lol stat wise and how the 'blocks' display goes off a number range. So for example; when you have 60-69 in something it will show as 2 blocks, where as if you put 1 more point in and push it to 70 it'll show 3 blocks. You can go all the way up to 79 and it'll still show 3 blocks until you get 80 to make it display 4 blocks. You might just be 78 or 79 and close to 4 blocks in a couple of those stats but just to keep it balanced as best I can so we're not stacked in any one category too much plus it's a way to show 'rookies' /newer members. It's all being tweaked with some testing here and there before it's go time. This gave me a laugh this morning though.

When a new expansion team comes to a league, there's talk about it, names mentioned, cities speculated etc... we're going to assume for this playthrough it has already been done. Televised announcements made, a city was chosen in this case it's just "RPGHQ", so some references will be made similar to "Downtown RPGHQ" and the like. I could have done a build up Rp'ing all this with the announcement of the team and written it out but due to work hours and daily bs I have skipped this part to focus on the 'main course' as it were. 'RPGHQ' will to be referred to a fictional city/location and I'll be planning out some intro/flavor posts in an attempt to make this sports game into a more narrative/emotional journey with what limited options I have to ( hopefully ) the best of my ability with what I have to work with. I may preface a post with a request for the viewers to play/listen to certain things like a music track or video in order, in an attempt to 'set the scene' or mood. I can only hope that you will participate in this to enjoy what I will be trying to set up.

Depending on my availability I may post the results the following day of a game, that night after it is done or live as things unfold. I like the idea of posting live during playoffs if we make it. Regardless I will try to promptly post a summary/end of game 'report' as soon as I can get it done and provide additional posts and events in between games leading up to the next one. I've always had good ideas for videos/narrative descriptions and ideas for how to display how I feel about a scene or story I come up with in my head but as mentioned before I lack the time and technical knowledge to properly show it. Music for me is a huge thing and means a lot to me scene by scene so I'll try to get this across as best I can and when I can. It's hard to describe a scene with a track to others as it's often unique to me and 'hits different' if this makes sense. Some tracks you may hate or the music genre but to me it's perfect for the moment, I can only hope you 'feel it' somewhat like I do. A lot of my attachment to tracks stems from my time spent fighting along side my brother who means ******* everything to me, so I don't expect most to get it or listen in full any audio I post. This is my first attempt at something this ambitious so bear with me as I hope to improve.

With that out of the way, here's the general playthrough expectation...

- - > This 'Let's Play' will be a long one. It will be following the general timeline/scheduling of a regular football season for the team, being 1 game per week. It will last months.

Some people will play NHL/NFL/NBA etc... titles one game after another. Multiple games a day and just rush a season. I will not be doing this. This will allow me time to 'story board' and come up with ideas and formatting the journey in between games based on my hours available.

- - > It will be played on "Super Star" difficulty ( one down from max; "Legend" )

It is rough and will require full attention based on my testing, player stats and hours played overall. Yeah it's a sports game, NHL games are notorious for cheesing the AI and having perfect deaks to fool the AI goalie. This is not the case on here.
Many times your dodges/jukes will not work and you get tackled regardless. I've done over 50+ hours now of tweaking and it's a battle most plays to hope your Defense holds the line to allow the QB to make a play and not get rushed/sacked.
I feel the adjustments to our team and others has been enough to provide a proper difficult playthrough with us as the underdogs. I assure you, we won't be going down without a ******* fight.


- - > Win or lose, the games will continue.

I won't be restarting games I am losing or attempt to get some kind of perfect record with win after win. Same with when I PvP on games, I don't leave or give up. With the adjustments I've been making, a win streak will most likely be a long shot the first season at least. Win or lose we are chugging forward with no reloads or restarts.

It's a project and a 1/2 for sure lol considering my time available. I was going to do this originally with a hockey game but football has more players and it's more challenging as every play matters, only 4 chances per ball possession to make something happen.

*** PRE-SEASON GAME 1 ***

-Houston Mustangs made it to the finals against the Tampa Bay Corsairs the previous year losing 24-21 in a back and forth defensive battle.
-They are hungry for another shot at the Championship.
-QB Tanner Stewart (Age 39, 14 years experience) told reporters he's ready for the 2025 Preseason Opener against the HQ Shitposters stating that the team is confident about facing this new expansion team, ready for another Championship Run.
-QB Tanner Stewart was top 5 in the league for pass completions making the Houston Mustangs a formidable passing opponent.
-A number of the The Houston Mustangs Defense and Offensive Line ( Wide Receivers mainly ), have expressed their frustration with the 2024 Loss to the Tampa Bay Corsairs.
-Contract extentions, trade speculation and raise requests have been ongoing.
-First pre-season game is at Home so expectations are high for a good start.
-Multiple veteran 'stars' are eager to secure a Championship before possible retirement.

The RPGHQ Shitposter organization has been quiet regarding comments towards the media for the upcoming season aside from several questions directed towards acting Coach Classix.

Reporter: Coach, your expansion team is mostly comprised of undrafted and rookie players, what kind of realistic expectations do you have considering their experience going into their first game against the Houston Mustangs who were just shy of a Championship the previous season?

Coach Classix: How fitting isn't it? We face off against the number 2 to start off. I've spent many hours watching them play and getting to know them, some personally and some off-hand observedly before they were signed. Most on here are not 'close friends' or 'buddies' who've battled together and have been through some shared hardships. I will tell you this though, the boys will be coming out swinging looking to hurt.

Reporter: You're looking to hurt the other team?

Coach Classix: The guys will be coming out with 'punishmnent' on the mind. Houston wants the shot at another Final, we'll see how wanting they are. Our boys on Defense are made of stern stuff and will be ready for kickoff. That's all I'm saying.

Coach Classix ended the questioning promptly with a smirk followed by QB Kalzone "The Bomber" who stood silently behind him.

Kick off is set for late afternoon Monday August the 11th.

Reporter: Gentlemen a quick question please...

TKVNC: *nods* Yeah go ahead...

Reporter: First game you guys are going against the runner up of the Legend Bowl for last year, how do you guys feel about the matchup?

Manny V: *Laughs* Bruv, we're not worried at all, we're going to take care of business as we've been instructed. Just a pre-season game.

TKVNC: *Hand raised up* The boys aren't worrying over the Ponies or whatever they call themselves, we're set for tomorrow and what needs to be done.

Reporter: As a new team do you...

Opium Den: *Blocks questions with a hand up towards the camera* we're ready for tomorrow, that's all there is. F*ck off.

The three proceed back into the hotel and into the lobby elevator.

Field conditions are dry, light humidity, high winds. Rain ( Unlikely )
The crowd is excited and on their feet as the Houston Mustangs make their run-in entrance accompanied by player numbers and introductions.
QB Tanner Stewart leads the way ahead of his team.
Most of the players have serious expressions, facing forward and are not gesturing to the crowd.
Our team makes their way out in unusual fashion. Our Defensive Linesmen come out ahead of QB Kalzone "The Bomber" in a wall formation left to right.
QB Kalzone "The Bomber" follows behind our Centers, Defensive Tackles and Guards, followed by 2 rows; single file each and side by side of the remainder of the team.
It resembles an arrow or 'spear' like formation.

A banner presentation for The Mustangs being Conference Champions and runners up in the Finals last year takes place
There is a lot of talking seen among the Mustang's Offensive Lines in between announcements.
QB Tanner Stewart shifts his weight back and forth from side to side, perhaps loosening up the legs or he's nervous.
The presentation concludes with a roaring cheer from the fans as both teams settle in on their respective sides of the field for the national anthem.



Helmets are placed on and strapped in as QB Tanner Stewart and QB Kalzone "The Bomber" make their way to center field at the 50-yard line for the coin toss.

QB Kalzone "The Bomber" calls 'tails'.

Coin lands on 'heads'.

Houston Mustangs receive the ball to start the game.

*** PRE-SEASON GAME 1 VS HOUSTON MUSTANGS ***

1st Quarter.

Went back and forth trading possessions with no one able to gain much ground especially from running plays. The Mustangs stuck to passes most of the time as expected so our Safety's and pass blockers were very busy with trying to swat down everything they were tossing. They'd make a few good connections to Receivers, get some 1st downs, but when they tried their running game to give their Receivers a rest every few plays our defense held them to 3 or less yards gained every time. They'd be forced to punt and we'd end up similarly gaining ground and be forced to kick it out to play it safe.

Play had to be stopped/whistled down multiple times with ref warnings for the guys on our Defense for rough stuff after the play was dead, usually after a failed rush attempt by the Mustangs. The boys would give them ****, shouldering them while walking past to our sides of the scrimmage line for the next down. Both teams took a few 5 yard penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct with some face guard yanking and after one play Noone Atall 'allegedly' Headbutted another player but the cameras didn't pick that up and some more pushing and jawwing at one another ensued. A Mustang player is injured in one of the scuffles.

Game stayed deadlocked at 0 for most of the quarter.

Mustangs would gain some ground again and made a FG attempt at 36 yards but the wind took that. We couldn't get anything going so we punted off and the Mustang's get possession once again.

Manny von Carstein got the game's first QB Sack after a bobbled hike to QB Tanner Stewart left him out of position momentarily to get the ball under control and Manny von Carstein found an opening around the QB's Defenders. He stood over top of him for a few moments after getting up which prompted another shoving match between players. Following this, the Mustangs were on their 4th down and elected to try for a Field Goal yet again to break the 0-0 deadlock at 40 yards...but the wind took it wide to the right and it was NO GOOD.

We'd get possession once more with no luck either. Back to the Mustangs again...
They too would gain some ground and made a 3rd FG attempt at 38 yards but the wind took that as well. NO GOOD

1st Quarter was winding down under 3 mins to go when we took possession after the failed FG attempt.
Vergil "The Vampire" ran the ball in splitting the Defense getting a 1st down. Then on the next play Nemesis "The Skull" finds a gap splitting the D again for another 10+ yard run for another 1st down. Couple more plays, ground gained.. another 1st down. QB Kalzone "The Bomber" lines up to what appears to be an identical play to what Nemesis "The Skull" just ran, but the line shifts and a fake is made TWICE with a fake handoff to Vergil "The Vampire" and Maiden Haver before Stacko Turtles picks it up and runs in for a whopping 18 yard gain before going down, keeping the 1st Down active.

We're at the Mustang's 33 yard line closing in. This push looks promising. QB Kalzone "The Bomber" opts for a long down field bomb to the right side to Fin Arfin, he has to toss it fast and low to fight the wind from taking it so Fin Arfin turns on the jets to try and get it just before it gets out of his reach ahead of him and he narrowly snatches it! The defender behind him can't keep up with that speed and Fin Arfin brings it in at 1:29 remaining, for the franchises first TOUCHDOWN!

Mustang fans are stunned and quieted down a bit after that. They've been noisy all game with all the bs going on with both teams. White Shark lines up for his first extra point attempt. Kicking slightly wide to the right to combat the wind it just slips inside the left goal post to make it count! 7-0.

Wndrbr Boots kicks it out downfield and it soars down to the 20 yard line. The Mustang's make a push upfield with several plays trying to fight the clock and in the final seconds before time is out they opt for another FG attempt at 38 yards to net at least 3pts to end the quarter with and this one finally goes in. A little momentum taken back.

2nd quarter the boys are coming out pumped up. They walk out in a similar 'spear' formation.

The Mustangs come out to the crowd roaring looking to keep the momentum going as we get ready to take possession after a Mustang's kick to start the 2nd quarter.

We aren't able to make it up field much even on some safe running and passing plays by Bing Lim, Element "The Watchman" and Vergil "The Vampire". We get stuck inside our own 15 yard line after a good deep kick by the Mustang's to start the quarter off.

Mustangs seemed to have calmed down from the rough-stuff now along with our Defensive line but the yapping during every down persists.
On 3rd down QB Kalzone "The Bomber" 's toss is INTERCEPTED at our own 31 yard line. Crowd erupts. Turnover deep in our own zone.

Lines change up, Mustang's Offense comes out and the crowd is electric. Touchdown in sight.
The Mustang's line up a pass formation and QB Tanner Stewart's defense gives him a good amount of time to look for a receiver. He pitches it low and fast just up field to the left but SPELLSWORD INTERCEPTS IT RIGHT BACK MOVING UP A FEW YARDS! HOOOOOOLY ****!
The crowd is a mixed chorus of fading cheers and boos as they are stunned.

We make our way up field in the following few plays but The Mustangs are holding their ground and it becomes a back and forth again like in the 1st Quarter with possession exchanges and some close near catches. Jim "The Mandalorian", Rand "The Shade" and Manny von Carstein making some good stops for us not allowing runs or plays to get very far.

The Mustang's manage to get to our 36 yard line and attempt another FG, which misses again. Wind had been a nuisance the entire game.
The quarter is winding down now to the 2:28 mark. We're on another push upfield and QB Kalzone "The Bomber" 's long deep right pass is INTERCEPTED at the Mustangs 47 yard line! Crowd erupts again. Play goes under review though as we challenge it. We're sure Ninety Eight was slew footed with his feet kicked out from under him ,meaning the play gets called back and the down is replayed. The review goes on for a few mins and they reach a determination. NO PASS INTERFERENCE OR TRIPPING. Mustang's keep the ball just inside our 40...

They are able to make it to our 2 yard line a few plays later at the 1:19 mark. We are able to HOLD THEM at the 2 yard line for 3 downs, but Element "The Watchman" takes an injury on one of the plays.

They can't run it in and a pass is swatted down and bobbled leaving them at 4th down...
They opt to FG attempt it instead of risk another run or pass. This one being so close it finds the mark just fine and it's 7-6.
Crowd is fired up again...closing in.

We receive the ball after the kick, making some safe running plays to keep away from our end and the quarter ends.

Team comes out to a "spear' formation again for the 3rd time. Boon Taker, Fin Arfin, Nemesis "The Skull" and Stacko Turtles all make some great running plays and handoffs trying to push up field at the start of the quarter. We get a 1st down here and there but The Mustangs are locking down significant gains consistently.
Possessions change back and forth yet again with no luck getting past the 30 yard line on either team's side.

Rand "The Shade" gets a sack on QB Tanner Stewart during one of the Mustang's possessions and a punt ensues as it goes back forth with nothing much gained. We get to their 38 yard line and White Shark lines up for a FG but the wind is working against us too and it drifts too far left. No good...

The following few plays after the Mustangs have it back and try once more to push upfield there's a stalemate on a running play and both teams lock up trying to get one of the Mustang's runners off his feet and Nathaniel Saxton is injured on the play. a Mustang player looked like he gave a bit 'extra' when jostling with Saxton but no penalty called on the play. Doesn't look serious, we'll get him some massage work and he should be back it for next week or any zoom meetings he needs to attend.

Mustang's can't get anywhere as we hold them at their 41 yard line, the boys riled up now after that injury. They are forced to punt yet again and Vergil "The Vampire" catches it for the return. He's taken down with double coverage by 2 Mustangs and his helmet is dislodged. This sparks another dust up and it takes several mins to get the teams settled down again. Crowd is noisy again after that big hit. We are held firmly near mid field again as the Mustangs got some energy from that one and QB Kalzone "The Bomber" gets sacked twice a few plays later. We call a timeout to resettle the boys. We punt it off and on the next few plays Manny von Carstein returns the favor with another sack of his own for number 2 on the day.
Houston can't get anywhere and is forced to punt it back to us.
Down to under 2 minutes now in 3rd Quarter.
We are able to push up to the Mustangs 26 yard line, where White Shark makes another attempt at a FG. SHE'S GOOD BABY! 10-6!
Quarter ends with the Mustangs safely running the clock down and a couple safe running plays.

[4TH QUARTER]

The 'spear' formation stays for the final quarter as we walk out. QB Kalzone "The Bomber" flanked this time by Roguey "The Stealthy" and Lord Rumbles, no doubt reminding them the importance of keeping that down field covered for the nasty passes The Mustangs are probably going to be relying on again to try and take the lead. Roguey balls a fist and strikes his chest, 'bumping' Lord Rumbles, T.K Viency and Atlan Tico, nodding in agreement. Gerey talks animatedly with the Defense, telling them to keep the Mustangs off QB Kalzone 'The Bomber" whatever it takes. All displays meant for the fans and Mustangs to see. A show of confidence.

The Mustangs resume their possession gaining decent ground but again we are able to stop them from getting too far and we exchange possessions a few times. Bing Lim makes a notable rush for 21 yards finding a gap in the Mustang's defensive coverage for a nice 1st down.

We can't make progress after that though and are forced to punt it off away with the quarter over 3/4 completed.
Nothing gets too far for The Mustangs and we get it back yet again. We are able to push it up to their 39 Yard line on a 4th down.
We go for another FG attempt and White Shark lines up again for another battle with the wind. The kick hugs just inside the right goal post and it's GOOD! 13-6
Houston is able to make slow progress up field on their next possession and after 2 quick failed pass attempts and a near sack by Rand "The Shade"...
Houston calls timeout. Trying to settle the guys down and refocus.
They make a few small gains on some rushing plays getting a 1st down and opt for a long bomb way up center into our end zone! but Roguey "The Stealthy" is able to swat at it and it juggles in the air but the Mustang Receiver is unable to get a hold of it! Almost a go ahead score. Roguey "The Stealthy" saved us with this pass swat.

They get to our 25 yard line the following 3 plays. They go for a quick toss over the defense up center again and it's INTERCEPTED AT OUR 11 YARD LINE AT 1:43 TO GO BY T.K VIENCY!
The boys on the sideline are elated and celebrating commences as the win looks like it's 'in the bag'.
QB Kalzone "The Bomber" works the game time running the play clock down to the last second every play as we make some safe running plays forward. More jawwing and scuffles take place.

QB Kalzone "The Bomber" runs the play and time clock down once more for a final time and the RPGHQ SHITPOSTERS get their first win in Preseason game 1!

Rand "The Shade" is awarded MVP of the game with 9 tackles on the day and 1 Sack.

A hard fought battle with the wind saving us multiple times with how good Houston's Special teams usually are. What a first game. Our Defensive lines are crackin some brews tonight, well done boys.

** Edit ** short day yesterday but was roasting outside with the heat so I finished this up and posted before crashing and relaxing the rest of the night and to handle some work stuff so it was posted kind of 'flat' looking. Will make some adjustments to it and post some follow ups when I can.

Pre-season opener for the Houston Mustangs and the RPGHQ Shitposters on Monday Aug 11th in Houston ended in a stunning defeat for the Mustangs, who just a year before went to the finals against the Tampa Bay Corsairs, narrowly losing 24-21. The ceremony and banner raising for the Mustangs for their finals appearance ended in a disappointing loss to the newly formed expansion team.

The Shitposters came out onto the field resembling a 'lance' like formation during the Houston Mustang's introductions with their quarterback not leading the formation but electing to walk behind members of the RPGHQ Defensive line. The banner raising and ceremonial affair went off without issue but after the coin toss to start the game, it devolved into an on-field back and forth "school yard" brawl with stoppages every other down as the HQ engaged the Mustangs right off the bat with antagonistic gestures and 'flag' worthy physical altercations which took up most of the first 10 minutes. A number of players on the Houston Mustang's claiming the RPGHQ Shitposters of spewing racial slurs and even spitting. The 1st quarter took a league record to complete with double digit penalties issued to both sides before the halfway mark, echoeing Coach Classix's pre-game comments about "punishment on the mind".

The Houston Mustang's ongoing contract negotiations, personal team disputes and the previous seasons' failure clearly displayed as they readily engaged the Shitposters in extended hostile altercations which lasted the entire match.

The Houston Mustang's previous season saw them clinch top 5 in Passing but were held to less than 10 yards per pass on average as the HQ showed surprising coverage and holding the running game down to less than 2 yards per carry. No expansion team has done so since the mid 90's when the Dallas Rangers held a tight grip on 1st in the league on Running Yards Allowed with an all time low of 3.7.

The game was a back and forth game of "you're it" for most of the quarters' play time, the Shitposters able to keep the Mustang's pass game looking dismal. The wind was not on the Houston Mustang's side for a majority of the game as multiple passes and field goal attempts fell flat despite adequate looking setup and execution. Sacks were exchanged on both sides throughout the match shifting momentum only to be squashed mere plays later. The defensive standstills and exchanges reminiscent of the previous years Championship game between the Mustangs and the Corsairs.

The persistant scuffles between the teams in between plays seemed to have an affect on the Mustangs as the game went on as uncharacteristic mistakes and misplays piled up.

Several key interceptions occured shifting momentum but unltimately favoring the HQ as T.K Viency of the RPGHQ Shitposters made a crucial and game deciding 'pick' in the final minutes of the 4th quarter leading to the Mustang's pre-season opener loss at home. The Houston Mustang's face the RPGHQ Shitposters in game one of the regular season in 3 weeks time, no doubt looking to settle the score as this will be their only meeting in the regular season until playoff time...

-Detroit Cougars managed to get 1st place in their division just ahead of the Greenbay Beavers who fell off near end of season with several injuries.
-Several trade aquisitions in the off-season for some quality young running game talent like Rookie HB Randy Asiasi and a 4 year deal with FB Alec Gottschalk.
-They have stuck with a focus on younger legs as the team has several veteran runners nearing end of contract length and career.
-QB Armando Goral (Age 30, 9 years experience) recently signed a 2 year extension and disposition is Good regarding the team's deal.
-This is the Detroit Cougars' second away game of the pre-season, winning their 1st last week against the New York Empire 24-16.
