This a false comparison.
The EU has an established market segment that represents proven revenue streams that already exist today and have for years - its not the same as chasing a market that doesn't exist AKA "Female Gamers" or "The Moden Audience" etc.
A company has to weigh <insert ******** policy> with <revenue loss value>.
That equation so far has always resolved to the EU getting their way despite them being an unelected body of globo-stooges who keep attacking / grifting off American companies.

That's probably true for social media companies and similar examples, but I'm not sure it applies to gaming. At any rate, the Euro market will evaporate in 5-10 years when Europeons don't have any money anymore.Shillitron wrote: ↑ July 8th, 2025, 16:32Stack of Turtles wrote: ↑ July 7th, 2025, 16:25That's the same ******** ideology that created the modern woke game because "women are 50% of the video game market" (they're not)Lord of Riva wrote: ↑ July 7th, 2025, 16:19

Games are an economical substitute for other entertainment.
Americans don't need to have money in order to buy things, they can borrow up to and including the cost of a luxury vehicle.
If games aren't selling the product is the problem.

Gaming is extremely cheap as a hobby if you factor in the amount of free games and the ability to create your own games. Way cheaper than other hobbies like warhammer or those card games, sports, travel, etc.J1M wrote: ↑ July 8th, 2025, 17:47False.Norfleet wrote: ↑ July 8th, 2025, 17:43AMERICANS don't have any money anymore, either! And yet, gaming sales are still down, simply cuz Americans are broke. Of course, the product is the problem, and that's why it's MOST down in NEW games, because people are still buying old games. See Steamfax. But they're still DOWN, cuz Americans are still BROKE. And yes, obviously, games are the most economic entertainment, which is why I would imagine they will ultimately be hit less hard...but things are still down.J1M wrote: ↑ July 8th, 2025, 17:47False.Norfleet wrote: ↑ July 8th, 2025, 17:43AMERICANS don't have any money anymore, either! Counterpoint: We shouldn't stop killing games. Games have been on the decline for decades, and there can only be one reasonable answer: We must KILL MORE TO FIND OUT WHY.

It's not, and if he is doing work for this EU group specifically, he counts as a sponsor, but if he's only doing work for his own non-EU part of it, I'm pretty sure (but don't have any legal precedent to back this up) that wouldn't "carry over" even if the EU group benefits from his work. But he doesn't seem to know that and is infuriatingly vague about it.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ July 21st, 2025, 21:09I assumed it was some EU specific thing because he lives in the EU but is not a citizen thereStack of Turtles wrote: ↑ July 21st, 2025, 21:07"I've been advised I'm not a legal person; I'm a natural person." The EU is a **** jurisdiction so they have limits on how much volunteering you're allowed to do. The complaint specifically called that out; you'll note that he quoted them as mentioning that his contributions allegedly exceeded the volunteer exception. I have no idea what that limit actually is or whether it is true that he did, because I'm not European, thank God, but I'm going to guess the complainants probably checked and find that it's reasonably likely. Regardless, if he was directly assisting this EU group, he probably WAS required to keep track of the time spent.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ July 21st, 2025, 21:25the volunteer exception seemed pretty clearcut to me tbhStack of Turtles wrote: ↑ July 21st, 2025, 21:24It's not, and if he is doing work for this EU group specifically, he counts as a sponsor, but if he's only doing work for his own non-EU part of it, I'm pretty sure (but don't have any legal precedent to back this up) that wouldn't "carry over" even if the EU group benefits from his work. It seems to me like, MOST LIKELY, his efforts were ancillary to the EU group itself and don't count for this, but I can't tell for sure because he doesn't seem to understand the difference well enough to explain.
