That the death is off screen was truly unexpected to me. The sudden mythical god slaying of prophecy and sudden rush to the end I could live with, which reminds me of the likes of Farenheit and Detroit Become Human, but that a companion that seems, to me at least, be an integral part of the journey, a true companion to keep by your side, is gone and done and never seen again off screen is quite strange if not jarring I would even say. Is the body seen at the least, or is it just a line of dialogue or similar that tells you about what happened and he is just deleted from the game? Is there a buildup to it?
There is somewhat of a build up to it. It's a little forced as it's not as though this was a secret goal (it's the literal stated goal of the order from day one) but he begins to feel doubt about the mission to kill the gods and leaves at the beginning of the mission to go kill the gods. He's gone from the game until the very end until you overhear his last moments as you go to fight fate where his last words are declaring his love for you. You do see his body but it is in the boss arena which you are teleported away from once you defeat the boss so it's not as though you really get any moment to take it in. It really just seems like a cheap way to give you some strong motivation to fight this villain who you have basically no real reason to hate or personal animosity towards.

However it's of no concern, if I'm going to be the shadow god then surely I can use my godly powers to give myself a TRUE and GOLDEN happy ending :bounce:

Does this mean you can finally start playing Enderal? If so, would you be willing to do a Let's Play? I would absolutely love watching you play the game!
I definitely do want to give Enderal a try but I'm unsure how soon I will start it. I still have some unfinished business in Nehrim to clean up and I may be getting a lot busier soon. I also don't know how I want to handle it. Nehrim is a total conversion for a game I already love even completely unmodded. I know there's gameplay changes but the idea of vanilla Skyrim combat gameplay makes me shudder a bit :scratch-pipe:

As for a let's play I'm unsure. I'm still not very good at that format because I'm never sure how much to keep in or leave out. Not to mention needing to constantly take screenshots. I suppose I could record as I play but I'll have to see how feasible that is. I like to keep things fairly casual so as not to become a chore. I did really like Nehrim but it does start to wear you down after a while especially towards the end as there's a lot of deranged scripted sequences that Oblivion really struggles with. I should be upset that the final chapter was so insanely fast paced but honestly I was kind of wanting to wrap things up too.

Yeah, the gameplay in Enderal is absolute dogshit. Make sure to play the game with mods (gameplay, graphics, etc.).

I also recommend picking "Phasmalism" as your second class. What's Phasmalism?
Phasmalism is a magical discipline from the school of Sinistra that focuses on the manipulation of souls. Phasmalists can collect dead souls and trap them in talismans, which can then be used to summon the soul as an apparition, loyal to the owner of its talisman.
To reiterate: Throughout the game, you can find the bodies of dead warriors, mages, etc., whose souls can be "caught" and summoned. You can even equip them with armor and weapons of your choice.

They share your stamina and mana, so choose souls that mirror your skill set: summon a warrior soul if you're a warrior, a rogue soul if you're a rogue, or a mage soul if you're a mage.

In any case, they're really useful. High-level souls can take care of low- and mid-level enemies without your assistance. Against high-level enemies, they can be used as tanks, allowing you to hack away at the enemy. The summoned souls can't really die since they're already dead; however, they disappear after their HP hits zero, and re-summoning them increases your "arcane fever," which is bad.

You can also play as a mage who focuses on summoning beasts (i.e., animals and monsters). I'd recommend against it, though. For one, these creatures are weaker than summoned souls (former humans) in every regard.

Moreover, these beasts' AI is absolutely abysmal. They keep getting stuck all the time. You won't have this problem with souls because Phasmalism was introduced a few years after the initial release, and the developers made sure to address the issue.

Lastly, you won't feel like a complete fool for investing in beast summoning after finding this staff that lets you summon a significantly stronger creature than any you can summon with spells. This staff can be used by anyone, including warriors and rogues, with no limitations (no need to invest points in mana).

In any case, be sure to take a break after finishing Nehrim so you'll be in top form for your Let's Play! Please don't cut any content! According to HowLongToBeat.com, completing all quests takes 134 hours, so I'm expecting a 134-hour Let's Play from you!

Don't worry about the details; just be yourself and I have no doubt it's going to be absolutely glorious!

By "summoner" rusty means Phasmalist. Not to be confused with a mage who can summon beasts.

Yes. The SE version didn't add any content - it was just a technical update.

Also, you most certainly played as Phasmalist, but let me check your posts on the Codex to be 100% certain.

Hm, I cannot find any indications you actually played as Phasmalist, @rusty . Very disappointing.

Trust me: You wouldn't remember it being fun if you used spell summoned creatures - their AI is absolutely dogshit (zero pathfinding ability).

I just wanted to take a peek at the character creator and it has an obscenely long unskippable intro. Not good!

Serves you right for starting the game without any intention of actually playing it. :P

Aeterna are just altmer in this so I will have to do a lot of modding autism in order to make a halfway decent character. Pretty annoyed everyone else will still be an ugly vanilla Skyrim altmer.

Yeah, the first few minutes are really bad. Just pretend the game actually begins the moment you wake up on the beach.

And.... It's just a rebalanced Skyrim with its own worldbuilding. Neither Nehrim nor Enderal does feel anything like Gothic, they are closer to modern AAA open world "RPG" than old classics, and they both ****** the player in term of the story:
In Nehrim, your waifu (or husbando if you are a womyn, or a ******* ******) just ran a way at the beginning of the final chapter and die, and there no way for you to save her. You can at least keep playing after the ending, and there are also a few (albeit rather tedious) bonus quests though, but nevertheless you'll still be forever alone because of lol krautoid writing.
Enderal has a far more cringeworthy reddit esque writing and also an obnoxious amount of girlbosses. In the end you either just ******* die, or escape to a ruin with your waifu (or husbando, this time you are allowed to be a *** in the game fyi), who of course will eventually die because they are mortal while your character isn't. Forever alone here you go, like whoever the **** that write this plot.
