Episode II: Temple of Elementalist Evil
► Show Spoiler
I decided to try formatting things slightly differently to see if I liked it or not. It's still early so there's plenty of time to figure out some kinks and what works best. Feel free to give feedback on how much better or truly awful it was this time.

The next part will likely be longer since we're past the stage of having to introduce and set up a lot of basic things. Might have it out by the end of today but we'll see. I think one update per day is still absolutely SPOILING all of you as is...

I think it's fine as a mechanic for this game. Since it ties into the plot it's probably good that there's some sort of gameplay aspect that ties into that instead of it being a purely narrative infliction.
Don't think I would add it to Skyrim though. I think simply not making magic auto replenish like having the atronach birthsign is my preferred method. This kind of has the opposite problem where I just never ever want to use potions.
The magic rad rocks is a cool level design hurdle to add though. Usually when you see those blue rocks you know there's something interesting to loot but at a risk for staying in the area too long.
I'm sure I'll find some way to cheese the system by gathering obscene amounts of ingredients to make infinite ambrosia potions or something eventually anyway.
I'm just stating the facts.

Episode 2: Temple of Elementalist Evil
Small heads-up: There are locations in the game which are not marked on the map - these are usually the best ones.

Seeing how you didn't mention it in your post, I assume you already missed one of those locations, namely the Forgotten Temple.

How to get to it:
  • Wake up on the sun coast after the ship incident
  • Go through the first temple, and make sure to pick up the key to the Forgotten Temple.
  • You exit the temple at the top of a hill. That's when the quest to collect pumpkins and mana fungi triggers.
  • Instead of going down the straight road leading to the valley, go to the right.
  • There's a ballista on a platform. Behind and above the ballista there's another ledge with a door to the Forgotten Temple.
It's a relatively big dungeon with platforming elements and a treasure at the end.

I actually did notice it when I back tracked to pick up some items I missed but had already jumped back down and didn't feel like climbing back up under the assumption there was a good chance it was just set dressing. If I'm in the area again I'll check it out.

My favorite enderal memory was when I got a quest to clear out an attic of rats or something and it ended with me falling into a dungeon full of minotaur-things

Just an excellently designed game world/quests. Didn't care much for the writing tho.

IIRC, you cannot get back up there once you got down. You could of course always use the console, though.

Yeah, the gameplay and environmental storytelling is great. It definitely suffers from 2010ish Harris/Dawkins level "God isn't real but I hate him" antitheist writing.

For the layout, much like Stack I dislike seeing it this way, but in my case it is due to how it feels "less important", so to speak, as if the writing is trying to not be intrusive and hide away, instead we are here for it, so it should be front and center in my opinion, much like how Irenaeus writes his PbP for example. I am unsure on how to make it a balance between it being alright for mobile as well though, and I myself liked to scroll through posts when I was browsing through the phone after my SSD died, it's like reading a story, and if there is need to get to the bottom, there is always the option to do a swift finger motion that will plummet the visuals to the bottom.

Loving your writing style also Vergil, it's beautiful to read! Looking forward to the next chapter, though I am a bit worried for the writing for this mod with the atheism things that are being mentioned, I hope it won't become the sole focus of the story :?

Episode III: The Gods Delusion

Verzul wakes up from his second knockout in under 24 hours.
While recovering from his early onset CTE he's greeting by his rescuer (?) Jespar.
Immediately the tone is set with his "quirky" and "quippy" dialog.
► Show Spoiler
Thankfully he has more to say besides some real eye rollers and groaners by cluing Verzul in about the nature of his headaches.
Apparently they have nothing to do with getting bashed repeatedly but everything to do with magic
► Show Spoiler
As if he didn't give enough of a reddit vibe he starts direct quoting arguments from r/atheism which doesn't help Verzul's already souring opinion of him.
► Show Spoiler
Brushing that aside, and not really having any other options, Verzul strikes a deal with him.
He'll help Jespar figure out why this respected magister went sicko mode by committing a supernatural school shooting and whether it has anything to do with this "Red Madness" plague that's going around.
A plague that makes people's eyes glow red and act insanely evil. Basically, a creepypasta virus is affecting the continent.
► Show Spoiler
Given no other option we have our first quest.
Talk to his childhood friend and see if he threw a convenient manifesto outlining his motives into the ocean.
► Show Spoiler
Before setting out Jespar gives a map so that we can finally take a look at Enderal for ourselves.
I really love the paper world map aesthetic (I always mod the one in Skyrim to be paper as well) so this was a treat.
I do have to say the map doesn't look nearly as big or gorgeous as the whole provided in Nehrim but that one also could be a bit misleading.

Regardless Verzul has finally been let off the tutorialslave leash and is free to roam around a little.
► Show Spoiler
In typical TES game fashion Verzul ignores the main quest to immediately **** around.
This time by backtracking to peep out that house outside the Apothecarii's camp and see if he can't disrespect them even further by looting their bodies.
Inside he finds some paltry loot, an alchemy table (going to be seeing a lot of those I bet!) and some fuckass spiders which he burns to death.
► Show Spoiler
Sadly some EVIL NASTY opprotunistic bandits have done the unthinkable and stripped them of their good loot already. Sorry @Finarfin
Also found a bird in a nest who has some sort of genetic disorder. Why are his wings like that?
► Show Spoiler
Walking back up the path and moving in the proper direction this time. Passing by Jespar it seems the devs couldn't resist the omnipresent urge every single Skyrim companion modder gets to make their characters sing randomly and constantly.
Image
Thank God I put the game in German by this point.

Making his way to the first objective Verzul decides to test out his new shock spell on some rats...
► Show Spoiler
...troll...
► Show Spoiler
...a bear...
► Show Spoiler
...and finally decides to violate the NAP and give this random ****** the Mike Pence treatment.
► Show Spoiler
He just really likes to ******* electrocute things okay
► Show Spoiler
It's fine, that wild mage was reading books written by Dal'(((Goldenstein))) so he was a crypto-**** israel shill anyway, probably.
► Show Spoiler
Navigating the shore line Verzul spots an interesting looking island and decides to peep things out.
On the island is a gorgeous little waterfall. So far this game has kept Nehrim's quality when it comes to locations being pretty and interesting.
► Show Spoiler
Immediately he gets ******* trolled hard by a falling rock tripwire.
To make things worse girls start laughing at him...
► Show Spoiler
He shows that roastie ***** whose boss by frying her abhorrent **** with lighting yea take that you stupid *****!!!!!!!!
► Show Spoiler
Verzul gets a cute new backpack and a hood to hide his shame and embarrassment and sets off back to finding Yero's underwater secret.
Miraculously he discovers it. Somehow this old decrepit man slug an entire strongbox out to sea. Thankfully it stayed in a convenient spot to find.
Even better the USBs containing his live journal posts didn't get corroded by an untold amount of time being battered by sea water.
► Show Spoiler
Further along Verzul finally meets another fellow knife ear! This woman is randomly sleeping on the beach which is not something I would recommend doing in real Germany.
She needs helps rescuing someone named Elfriede from something called a "Vatyr" .
Normally he wouldn't care but Verzul is a staunch Aeterna nationalist and so agrees to help find little Elfriede.
► Show Spoiler
Rushing up to find Elfriede the Vatyr is nowhere to be seen.
That is until approaching the cage in the center of the room where it decides to do a jumpscare and rush from behind.
Thankfully it goes down without too much trouble.
What a horrible demonic crazy beast.
► Show Spoiler
To my complete and utter lack of shock Elfriede turns out to not be a person but a pet.
What does surprise me though is that she's... some sort of animal.
► Show Spoiler
Deciding to check the rest of these ruins out Verzul stops for a much deserved break. There's a convenient chair here to take in the view and what a view it is.
► Show Spoiler
That's all for now. I've decided to at least try and do one update a day but we'll see how that goes. I don't want this to become a chore.
Also you may have noticed that I indeed already broke down and installed more mods which I will list below and update the OP with.
Next up, we finally go to a town, talk to some old people, and see if we can't put together why old man Yero went nuts.
► Updated Modlist

Like others said, I love how you sprinkle in your wit in your writing Vergil! Love the little details like the fedora you added also XD
I have also no idea what I myself would call that creature, loving the dungeons and quests in this one for sure!

As for the bird, that is what Skyrim's eagles look like when they are in their nests. The birds are very *peculiar* in Skyrim, and I do believe they were supposed to just be shot down and seen from afar, eagles especially.

How does the map size feel? Just looking at all of the mountains drawn onto it I kind of suspect some areas might be hallwayesque.

It's definitely felt on the smaller side so far but it seems densely packed to make up for it at least. It's around half the size of Nehrim and Skyrim proper.
However comparing it to Nehrim is a little unfair because while Nehrim was very huge a lot of it was spaced out or areas you couldn't quite actually reach especially around the edges.
I don't mind that really. There's plenty of Nehrim I left unexplored just because it's so massive and without fast travel it's hard to justify wandering around long distances just to explore dungeons when I'm already 2-3 shotting every enemy in the game.
When it comes to actually traveling to a set point like when I went to Ark it's small but since I try to go into just about every dungeon I find on the way in these games there's a lot to keep my distracted and busy.

Yea I don't doubt that but at least this map is a little more honest/easy to read terrain. Nehrim's map is beautiful but seeing the interactive map online with all the map markers laid out you can really see how many just complete dead zones there are.

Yea there was a moment where I was following the shoreline and suddenly fighting NOT!Falmer (Arps) which were a bit more difficult than the bandits I was just fighting. Then I continued upwards and just barely killed two wild mages. I popped into a nearby ruin and got utterly decimated by more "Arps".

I believe I know exactly where that is.
As you come down from the start area there's some low hills to your left, and a river leading to a small bay ahead and to the right.
If you follow the river and the bay, as you tend to do, you see a wrecked ship.
It's filled with pretty tough skeletons, but it's doable if you're cautious. Not great loot for the difficulty, though.
If you keep following the coastline right into the wispy fog, you rapidly come into contact with those Arp enemies that one on one take everything you have to kill, just barely surviving (if you can at all), then there's more and tougher ahead at the village.
Killing the first one with all the scrolls and poison and whatnot you have is worth it to get a good sword, but going further is basically suicide.
That kind of thing is bad game design. The terrain and view can lead a new player right there and they'll get frustrated and angry.
You're supposed to make a 60° left turn (but not TOO far left because of multiple trolls hiding in nooks in the mountainside) and wander to the village that's way too far away.
There's lots of "traps" along the way that can easily overwhelm the player. There's a best path that's obvious, but also a lot of tempting side areas that are tough to lethal.
It needs a redesign to lead you to the village more quickly without having to cross all that enemy filled area.
The village should be closer to the start, with the other stuff moved beyond it into lawless territory beyond.

Episode IV: The Bite of 8234

After all that lollygagging Verzul packs up and decides to head back to that little cuckshed he appropriated from a wild mage for some alchemy before continuing north to Riverville.
Of course he's going to stop and observe some of the cute farm animals before finally heading to the inn for some rest (and to wait until the marketplace opens up. Unlike Skyrim you cannot just wait in Enderal)

Despite being a hated and persecuted minority beds are still only 10 pennies a night.
Before bed though let's take a peek at those waterlogged diaries that are miraculously preserved.
A really cool feature that is unfortunately wasted on someone like me can't speak German is that some books have voiced narration.
While I do think it's sort of nice, the fact it only plays while open makes it a bit of a novelty.
I can read much faster than they can speak so must like dialog I'll have closed the book long before the narrator can finish.
If it worked like an audio log I could listen to whilst roaming around that would be ideal I like. Personally when it comes to TES I rarely read the books in game.
Usually if I want to read lorebooks I'll read them on the UESP at my leisure later. If they served the function of passing in game time or were audiobooks you could read while exploring that would be really great so I'm sure no game will implement this.
► Show Spoiler
I posted some summaries of each chapter as well as the full next below in a spoiler if you're REALLY curious as to the full story.

Letter One
A young Yero, inspired and full of hope, begins writing life letters to preserve his aspirations. He’s newly discovered to have magical potential and dreams of changing the world alongside his wife Sira. They share a vision for a better society, and he views the villagers with frustration for their complacency. The death of his mother acts as a bitter catalyst for his awakening.
► Show Spoiler
Letter Two
Yero has achieved many of his youthful dreams. He passed the Holy Trial, chose to become a schoolteacher instead of a soldier, and lives with Sira. Together, they help enact social reform, including a charitable “Food Bank” initiative. Yet, their efforts are met with resistance and ignorance from the privileged. Despite this, Yero feels fulfilled and credits Sira as his source of strength and love.
► Show Spoiler
Letter Three
Sira is murdered while delivering food. Yero is consumed by grief and despair. The letters that once gave him hope now feel empty. His dreams seem to have failed—his charitable work has devolved into chaos, and he is left feeling directionless and broken. He questions his faith, his purpose, and whether his remaining years are doomed to solitude and meaninglessness.
► Show Spoiler
Brutal stuff. Ignoring that this is basically the ending of the Robin Williams film Patch Adams, it seems Yero learned the ultimate lesson.
It's easy to hate the rich, but he did not have the courage to hate the poor.
This does add some element of intrigue. Could the red madness be what caused him to go postal or just regular old blackpilling?
Either way, Verzul heads to bed and it's time for some perk point allocation sweet dreams
► Show Spoiler
Back on the mysterious island I have to get over my decision paralysis and decide how I want to build this character.
After much thinking I've decided to go with a Lycanthrope/Phasmalist mix while throwing extra memory points in Elementalism when possible.
I take an additional perk in Elementalist for more damage, the first three perks in Phasmalist, and first two in Lyncanthrope.

For Phasmalist I can start collecting souls and crafting talismans to bind them, and then one to summon them, though I have to find a workbench for that first.
► Show Spoiler
For Lycanthrope I take the perk to make wolf blood potions and the next one which lets me craft potions anywhere (though at reduced effectiveness)
► Show Spoiler
This clears out my surplus memory points and leave Verzul's talent trees looking like this for now
► Show Spoiler
Before leaving town Verzul talks to Yero's childhood friend Alfrid who basically elaborates further on what the diaries already said.
I guess this is helpful for people who got filtered by not being able to read the diary entries AND were too zoom zoom'd out to listen to the audio.
However for the investigation this does little than give a little more credeance to the idea that Yero simply cracked under the bleakness of life instead of some sort of Zalgo creepypasta disease.
► Show Spoiler
Leaving town Verzul gets a random gut instinct feeling NOT a random quest marker after taking the first discipline in the Phasmalist tree that those whispers he heard in the valley might be something worth investigating.
Lo and behold he finds his first soul to capture. A random bum.
► Show Spoiler
Likewise, seeing as there's no one around to make fun of him he decides to test out these wolf blood potions he's brewed up and they're AWEsome... @Tweed
► Show Spoiler
After this awe inspiring discovering he makes his way to where Jespar said Yero's house would be.
There is a workbench for Phasmalism but Verzul does not yet have the necessary components for a talisman so that is saved for later.
He gives Jespar the diary entries and the relay's Alfrid's assessment of the situation. While we're doing this he's made a discovery of his own in Yero's basement.
A gate locked with an advanced high tech Star People lock that can be permanently disabled by jamming random sticks into the mechanisms.
► Show Spoiler
That's simple enough work for a little (7ft tall) elf fella like Verzul and the lock is opened on the first try.
Inside we discover a flame atronach elemental and more importantly something a bit more grisly and only slightly less sexable
► Show Spoiler
Seems Yero really did lose his marbles because he kept the body of his departed wife (who the game keeps calling his "partner" btw  ) in a little shrine in his basement.
Even worse this is apparently double illegal because all bodies in Enderal are supposed to be cremated after death.
► Show Spoiler
Verzul foolishly asks Jespar his opinion on all of this and of course he spouts some nihilistic faux wisdom reddit ****** babble about how Yero is bad for being upset his wife of 15+ years got stabbed by some ******** hobo and nobody should ever try to do anything ever.
He calls him a pack of roll aids and says believe in something ****** which causes him to get butthurt and start irl fedora posting so he drops the subject and we move on.
► Show Spoiler
Moving on from that with the knowledge that Verzul's heterosexuality is safe and secure due to how much this dude sucks, he gets a Morrowind style "Hey feel free to **** around for a bit" out and a teleport scroll back to Riverville when it's time to actually progress the plot.
► Show Spoiler
However I already spent a bunch of time wandering around and popping into any and every dungeon, ruin, and cave I could fine so I'm just about ready to head out for Ark anyway.
Back at Riverville Jespar immediately tries to ply Verzul with Alcohol which is steadfastly declined.
Some local lore on how diegetic fast travel is handled in this game is discussed and he wrongfully assumes Verzul's class based on what we'll never know since he saw him in combat one single time where we shot two spells.
Regardless we decide it's time to hit the road at dusk to avoid any ambushes.

That's all for now. So far I'm less than impressed with Jespar though I do appreciate how the main quest mystery so far is a little more intriguing than it just obviously being a guy who went crazy just because of a magic craziness disease. There's some plausible deniability and possible motive involved.
I hope Phasmalism ends up being worth it in the end. I'm a bit wary of Skyrim companion AI being a core part of my character and so far I've handled myself pretty well but I do like it thematically.
My decision to go Lycanthrope largely came about because it's pretty strong early on and it synergizes well with an alchemy heavy playthrough which every playthrough of Skyrim I do ends up being.

Next up, we make our way to Ark and see if they managed to do a capital city better than Bethesda did. The bar is pretty low!

I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Verzul foolishly asks Jespar his opinion on all of this and of course he spouts some nihilistic faux wisdom reddit ****** babble about how Yero is bad for being upset his wife of 15+ years got stabbed by some ******** hobo and nobody should ever try to do anything ever.
He calls him a pack of roll aids and says believe in something ****** which causes him to get butthurt and start irl fedora posting so he drops the subject and we move on.

Right conclusion for the wrong reasons.

It's just a really gay thought process. Pretty funny how much Jespar whines and drops little condescending remarks about the nobility. They're not the ones stabbing people trying to give them free food.
Yero issue wasn't wanting to improve society it's having too simplistic of a worldview and method for doing so. Should have focused on uplifting people who had clear potential (much like himself) instead of trying to freely hand out food to everyone in the shitnigger ghetto.

But it's good for me if libtards have Jespar's viewpoint, because their ideas of what "improving society somewhat" even means will ALWAYS be wrong and stupid. I don't want them to have ideals, I want them to shut up and pull the wagon.

Yero was an idiot and the gods or nobility or whoever were RIGHT for telling him his role in life was to be some kind of peon.

@Vergil did you find the abandoned house in the village that can act like your home base?
You have to enter by a hole in the side using a prompt.
It has a storage chest and a workbench as well.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.
If you can.

Why do you bother writing things to me? I don't give the slightest **** what you think about anything, ever.
