And that's how I am being rewarded. That **** apparently couldn't figure out how doors and chest work. Close every time you reload. Problem is, you pass a puzzle door, quick load for any reason before you passed that one and for some ******* reason its game over. Door is hard locked, no way around it.

Indies should probably do at least a short early access, they'll never have access to a real QA team to find bugs.

I went through all the screenshots, read the description… No random generation, no soulslike, no deckbuilding. Seems to hit every checkbox without any issues.

What's the catch? ********?
But what about replayabilty? I mean, if I can't play it over 100 times and have it be different every time it isn't a good game!

I know you are not being serious, but with more polish and less bugs it could have had quite some replayability. I am sure you can finish it within 15-hour. Only 4 characters, but 14 classes with different skill sets. No other way to gain any of the skills you do not automatically gain via your class. So technically you can easily roll a new party and use entirely different skills.

Not sure if I can finish it though, just had to replay idk maybe an hour or so to get pass that **** door.

It looks good and I understand some replayablity (different class makeups, etc...) and personally I may replay a really good game years later for this reason. The whole RNG loot and other crap they put in "replayable (tm)" games don't make me want to "replay" them. In fact, I have a hard time getting through them the first time because of those features as they are so bland, phoned in, lacking flavor and feel.

I always wondered why modern generations love the argument for RNG. Sometimes I think most modern gamers cheat too much (ie look up everything while/before playing) and so have ruined the mystery of finding things in the game so they think RNG will sovle their issue, but all it does is make everything generic and bland IMO.

That reminds me...

Did anyone ever put in a mod for DOS and DOS II that hand places crafted loot in the game tailored and balanced? I have checked from time to time over the years, but I didn't see anything. I can't seem to make myself go back and play it because of that and I would love to play it again if it had some actual care put to its loot placement.

Sure, that's modern crap. Back in the day replayability basically meant you still had fun at the end and were happy give it another round, maybe try out 2-3 new things. That's how it should be anyway...

Alright, reported the potential game ending bug as well. Would imagine quite a few could step into it, just too easy

Finally had a bit more time playing on. Dude is fixing bugs hours after reporting, that's quite commendable.

Overcame my first real, tough fight, grinded a bit, which is easy on that islands with the entire population spawning on one spot

Thank you for covering this game 1998!
Do you know if there will be any plans to have this on sites like GOG? Would love to make a CD out of this one.

No idea, but you can ask him. He is extremely responsive, this game's player peak is at 14 and still he is responding on Steam and updating the game almost daily. He clearly doesn't need the money, it's really a passion project.

Finished the 4th island and now back to what I believe is the final dungeon, and finally one that feels different. Playtime seems indeed to be closer to 15h than the 25-30 or whatever the dev estimated. Islands are also pretty small, so once you got your dudes up and running you can pretty quickly finish them. Bug of the day another skill not working as advertised. There are very few unique items in the game, I just found on with the chance to weak your enemies, sadly that debuff only ever is inflicting with the kill blow, aka useless.

By the way, the developer, as 1998 reported, answered my question incredibly fast. He said he might look to have his game on other platforms in the future but not at this time (as he understandably has to focus on the game itself). Been meaning to report back but completely forgot, sorry for the long delay.

@1998 Do you have any news on the state of this game these days? Have you, or anyone reading this, tried it again any time recently? Was wanting to get it sometime soon, but the latest update it seems was around April of this year.
