Human Revolution is one of the best video games ever made.
I enjoyed it a lot. I kind of obsessed over the trailers when it first came out.

I noticed a lot of zoomers & non americans take deus ex much more seriously than ever intended. 90s was peak conspiracy theory media, you can find similar themes in a bunch of other products from that time period.
The 90s peak conspiracy media is exactly the kind of media I'm talking about.
It's inspired by something that was very serious, and rife with antisemitism prior, yet it manages to curtail that towards a different avenue, all while turning it into entertainment.

Anyway, the point is that a lot of these things are intended to promote Civil Rights & Civic Patriotism, but that goes for a lot of things I suppose.
90s was still a time period when you could make a game where playing as nazis was no big deal, if not expected in certain genres(e.g., wargaming), and in the latter it was often the only nation you could play as.

Yes, you could get away with stuff like that but I don't recall anything that glorified it, the sane and popular opinion back then was that it's a historical depiction. Non of that really counters what I said.

Whenever someone praises Deus Ex, Rusty immediately jumps in and says something along the lines of "only europoors like deus ex, because they never lived through the american 90s and only know about conspiracies through deus ex and x files".

He did this like five times to my knowledge, probably more.

I just don't think it's very interesting.
I also thought x files sucked.

@wndrbr I've also seen you do the same thing with ATOM because you grew up surrounded by the culture it's portraying.

Sometimes I forget how old DXHR is, one thing I'll give it is that its graphics aged very well.
Except the 'remastered' edition I think, they ruined it by using console textures or something

TBH a lot of the higher budget games from ~2010-2015 look better than most games made in the past 5 years when it counts. Couldn't do 4k doorknob textures yet so a lot of unimportant things still lacked detail, but the games tended to have a much better overall graphics design, less clutter, etc., Not even touching that they used to not be blurry.

The remaster removed the peepee filter (which I actually liked)
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

There is a mod now that adds it back in and gives you presets to tweak both it and the lighting which is nice

I wish I noticed this thread existed before I posted my rant, my bad. I won't repeat my points here, but there's a few things about Mankind Divided that I didn't cover in my rant.

- There's a fat augmented ***** in the Red Light District. Knowing liberals made this mod, we know this wasn't intended as a joke, which makes the whole thing funnier.
- Director Miller is a homosexual and has two kids. It's never elaborated on how he acquired these children, but I'm certain he stole them.
- Stealth is a joke. Just get the cloaking augment and you can bypass every single automated defense in the game, including guards. You don't need anything else.
- The bonus stuff you can pay for on the store page is only usable once in a single session. You cannot use them again for future playthroughs. No one brings this up when shilling this game.
- Hacking is a joke. I didn't need to use any of the hacking programs, just disconnect if things go south, try again, and just spam C to capture and F to fortify. Or use a multi-tool, I had 12 to spare by the end. Resource allocation is a huge issue in this game, they had no idea how to balance it to create a challenge.
- There's at least 3 side quests dedicated solely to commie journalists living in sewers. Normally I'd not care, but quests are already scarce in this game, and that's 3 dedicated to commies.
- The serial killer quest has you optionally talk to a indian doctor and the dialogue seemed to think he was alive when I killed him for being an evil ****. Lazy player choice detection.

When I saw the fat ***** I immediately thought it was a dev self insert  Repulsive

Didn't know Miller was a homo, where'd you find the info on this? I must have glossed over it as I lost interest in reading emails and PCs because almost every one of them consisted of libtarded complaints about bigotry

In his apartment. There's an email and a few framed photos of him, his gay lover, and two kids.

Started a new non-lethal stealth playthrough of the first Deux Ex on Hard and loving the challenge. :turtle: Going right from MD, I got so used to how easy it was with the third person cover system and radar even with the more limited AI it's trickier  The more limited inventory space and lack of merchants also forces you to make choices more wisely. I picked the GEP gun at the beginning for blowing up **** like doors and security crap and it's working out pretty well. Kinda wish they had kept the destroying door mechanic in HR

Warren Spector did fuckall, he's always been an incompetent hack hogging glory.

After he left Origin and Ion Storm he proceeded to make fuckall that was worthwhile.

Because they're game devs.

He's been pretty open about saying it was a team effort and that some of his calls were the wrong ones (for example, making a "Team A" and a "Team 1" of im sim and traditional RPG fans and having their ideas compete with each other).

I feel that Deus Ex has never been very difficult; it's all about interacting with and tweaking its systems and tools while playing. :)

People speculate that Nightdive next goal after remastering System Shock 2 is Deus Ex, but I wonder if they can do better than the MOD.

It's very difficult to balance a game that incorporates a multitude of playstyles, character builds, mobility options and ingress/egress points on the map.

I don't think I've yet played a imsim that would be considered challenging in the traditional sense.

The System Shock remake proved that Nightdive doesn't know the first thing about game design. Nothing is going to come close to Ash's GMDX or RoSo's fork of it.

And since GMDX is made by Ash, the game can be tweaked to be extremely difficult.
