Is there one speed? I don't understand why you couldn't burn your space gas to fly to a planet in ten minutes and get stranded there for pirates to spawn to you, or coast guard to haul you back home.

I'm gonna make a full post on this soon after I get all my FACTOIDS straight.. (since rusty loves to nitpick everything I say between Todd blowjob sessions)

You basically fly your spaceship like your in a mario kart game, you have a set speed based on your equipment & energy input, and then you can do a thruster boost to temporarily increase your speed (when you eat a mushroom)..

For all the coping Rusty does about "muh realism" though - it is very interesting.... after your "thruster speed boost", your ship seems to magically slow down after, almost like the vacuum of space has magic-space-******-friction or something...?

Rusty will say it's your reverse thrusters that you use when you break or reverse in-game.. but uhm.. I didn't hit those after my speed boost.. If I am constantly thrusting myself forward, I should be gaining momentum.. that's the other side of the "space is big" realism coin.. interesting that "realism" is ok when it means your not allowed to leave the cuckshed.. but when it benefits me as a player, then 'game design' takes precedence.

theory: it just counts the number of systems visited regardless of NG+

So I'm about 60ish hours in, close to beating the main quest, ignoring faction quests now. (as per @rusty_shackleford guidance.. I bow before his star lord mastery)

The nearest possible blackhole is further away than any of the star systems present ingame afaik.

So, is ship speed in km/s? It's not clear.
I guess km/s would make sense?

It's also physically inaccurate in that your ship has a 'top speed' in space, rather than constantly accelerating.
It would take my ship a bit under 50 minutes to go from the earth to the moon. 36 days to go from earth to mars. Admittedly it is a rather slow freighter.
