You're the only person with this problem, roguey.
Just so you know, aim for the part without armor next time champ.
I was aiming them at his face.

Unfortunately Questline decided to replicate the "5000 arrows before the enemy dies" experience precisely.
One spell in stealth and 1/3 of the boss HP is lost.

PS : I'm playing in the lowest graphical setting possible an on normal difficulty
I refuse to play a melee character in a first person game and I'm not interested in spellslinging, so bows it is.
False. At level 20, a Dremora Valkynaz would have 180 hp (50 + (5 + 1.8) x (20 - 1)). Lightning bolt deals 35 damage. Meaning 6 lightning bolts for one kill. Meanwhile, Morrowind Lightning Bolt deals 40–100 (10–50 damage for 2 seconds) or 70 average damage, and a Dremora has 135 hp. It doesn't matter if you are level 1 or 50. So, a level 20 Breton Battlemage can kill a Dremora with two casts. On Oblivion, he needs 6. Making fighting dremora in Oblivion 3x more bloated even without counting the ridiculous levels hp bloat. At high levels, according to my math, many enemies could soak up like 15+ lightning bolts.
This is an Oblivion-spell-damage-doesn't scale-with-level problem, not an archer or melee problem. :)
Such bad design, a plague infected lv 1 nobody with the worst bow in the game and worst arrow has problems dealing with armor. What Tainted Grail needs is a system where at lv 1 he one shots everything. After leveling up, enemies get much more hp than he gets damage and everything soaks 666 arrows /s
As Josh Sawyer put it over a decade ago, a character in an RPG should start off competent and improve from there. I no longer have any interest in playing games where "it takes 10 hours to get good." I put up with it in ELEX because it's an open world game where you're supposed to stick to the settlements and run away from everything in the world until you've built up enough strength and receiver higher-tier equipment. The opening of this one is a big dungeon. With the enemy I faced, a tutorial window popped up explaining the melee mechanics. You're intended to fight him.

Just proves that adding near-arcade, action combat similar to dark messiah was what Bethesda should have been doing all along. The combat being fun carries the game very hard.

Not replying to roguey with this, he's sperging about something idk. I played a big guy with a big axe.

Level/quest design also completely btfos bethesda tho, it's much closer to gothic here

Main complaint I'd have is often the dialogue feels very childish or comedic and it's very very out of place. Almost old larian tier and it just does not fit at all.

Is worse with archers and melee.

Daedric claymore on morrowind with MAX STR, no buffs or anything deals 90 damage. On Oblivion, 26. And enemies have more hp on Oblivion. I don't like any mob being able to soak 646851361684684 hits from a Daedric warhammer by a fully maxed high level Orc or any enemy able to soak 4651354651653 thunderbolts in the face. I like when stuff are lethal to the point that you try to avoid being hit.

EDIT : If you add enchantment to the weapon, the weapon would melt most enemies, including Werewolves in few hits.

Disagreed. The most satisfying progressions in RPGs are like Gothic. A lv 1 char should be BARELY better than a lv 0 commoner peasant. IF you want to star competent, just start at higher levels. Simple as that.

If you put it on Veteran then I don't think you can play it without a backup melee weapon. My spells are also dealing crap damage atm.

Just to annoy @Oyster Sauce, you can force enable DLSS or FSR3 framegen by using OptiScaler + command-line arguments.

Launch the game using `-force-d3d12` to switch from d3d11 to 12 renderer(I noticed zero issues doing this beyond some stutters the first time as shaders compiled, YMMV) this is required for framegen
https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler

If you're on AMD and using the jank builtin scaler anyways you should probably install that to use FSR3 instead(just use DLSS on the ingame options.) You can enable framegen by using the "FG Hud Fix" option, no need to tweak the "Limit" parameter, just enable the "FG Extended" option. Make sure `FG Active` is ticked, and the FG Type is set to `OptiFG`

Noticed zero input lag due to optiscaler also using reflex/latencyflex, enjoying my fake 200fps :cowboy:

No body type BS
The game is inspired by Celtic mythology and people look like Celts
Most bandits are male
Most woman have "traditional" work, eg - tailoring, I didn't saw a woman blacksmith in the first and second area.
No girlboss
No equality cultism so far
Made by a small Polish studio

_______________

About Archery, seems like is really good in outside but it sucks inside, with your limited to sprint stamina till you invest a lot of points. Not sure. Never drawed a bow in the game, just read the skills and some bow descriptions.

Also has lots of arrow types.

Does this game have level scaling and if so, how is it handled?

EDIT: I would really like to support again without nonsense but level scaling is in itself AIDS

FWIW it seems like a very easy game in general. Playing on the highest difficulty that isn't the survival mode.

Seems like I'm locked out of MQ.

Remember when I said that I was doing everything before MQ? Well, I explored everything that I wanted in second map and made most quests. Decided to go to main quest. There is a problem, in the "have a nice trip". I need Rapsberry, there is a problem. I already looted everything that I could see and visited every merchant including buyback options and .... Zero rapsberry.

Image

I can't progress MQ. What now? Any way to get this items?

anyways, the writing isn't good enough to keep me around and the combat is getting repetitive so I guess I'm out at ~10 hours

once the level design started becoming more mundane it just becomes meh, exploring around an area and finding nothing was becoming the norm

if you like skyrim-style sandbox games it's probably more fun

The hold interaction for stealing things takes so long I can't be bothered. Can walk outside and get the exact same stuff from public boxes.
