Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their hard work on this, it's been a lot of fun to play. There's another Reddit meltdown about it if anyone is bored. Not sure how long it will stay up though

Was we tricked into racism when we saw a show about black queen of England? or black Cleopatra? Always amused me how race swapping white characters into black ones are okay but the other way around is a war crime level offense.

Btw, don't know if i in minority her or other way around, but in my demented outlook on things I'd say the RR is the mod that removes racism from the game, because Faerun supposed to represent fantasy version of medieval Europe, not modern California. And RR returns in the game that - representation and immersion contrary to vanilla - some weird simulacrum populated by blue-haired, black-skinned cosplayers from USA, and orcs with squeaky voices and pink pigtails (because masculinity bad)

In the setting of Faerun, largely based on Tolkien's stories, which in turn based on European folklore, inclusion of demographics that represent modern USA and not medieval Europe is immersion breaking. So by installing RR we made this game less racist, because demographics based on setting logic is not racist, demographics based on political ideals are.

The CC for me shows the normal Dragonborn Durge and then next to it "Not Found" and clicking on it slows the game to a crawl...

I think the diversity would have been better received if it was few & far between with a backstory as to why certain people are in the region. It would also have made them easier to mod out.

I wouldn't even bother modding it out if it made lore wise sense. Like a group of Rashemi witches with dark skin and tight curls visiting bg to chase some artifact or another ? An oni mage from katatur? Some genies/ merchants and their slaves from calimshan, No problem. But telling me the residents of bg are 60% midgets , 30% black and *****, just screams revisionism and partisan politics.

Edit: Even throw some Chult guy who tagged along with an explorer out of curiosity. Give it some lore sense, I won't complain.

Their racism isn’t even based on superiority. It stems from a victim complex that reveals them as: Weak, Degenerate, Detached from reality overemotional snowflakes. They’d gladly let foreign invaders conquer them and endure disrespectβ€”just to earn β€˜good person’ points in their little cult of propaganda-brainwashed vegetables.

I noticed that you used Rickard from Faces of Faerun for Tiefling M 1. I use that head for my guardian and I'd like him to be unique. Is there a way I can restore or replace just that head?

EDIT: I'm assuming that there are NPCs who use this head. If not, then this question is moot.
IIRC, that face is only used on Arabella's father. Tief M 1 wasn't a popular face for NPCs apparently. Never saw it on any other tiefling male, or at least not memorable enough.
If you still have issues with Locke having same head as your Dream Guardian (even if it's only one instance of NPC), you can probably install any Tief M 1 replacer mod and make sure it's below RR in priority in your BG3MM to override Rickard face from RR.

Thank you for the info! Locke looks different enough from my Guardian that I can deal with it. :)

Alright, I finally downloaded Baldur’s Gate 3. Now I need to:
  • Remove black characters (not fantasy races like Drow, but self-insert Africans)
  • Delete alphabet people.
  • Make characters attractive/sexy ("The men are important. Beautiful men" – Araki)
  • Optional gameplay improvements
Where do I start? Looking for a step-by-step guide. Bonus question: Will this work with Russian subtitles, or do I need the English version?

Autistic nitpick: Dynaheir being black did not make sense and was contrary to the lore, there are no ******* in Rashemen. Rashemaar were supposed to be fantasy Kievan Rus, i.e. mostly viking-like but with orientalist overtones:

(Spellbound campaign expansion, 1995)

Dynaheir is black for the same reason Quayle is an Asian gnome: because the BG1 portraits were based on actual photographs of Bioware staff in the mid-90s.

Is 'we want to put our coworkers into the game' less malicious than 'every fantasy world MUST be exactly like California'? Definitely. But it is no less disrespectful of the setting. In BG2 they corrected that mistake; when they wanted to put the exact same Asian* dude into the game again, they came up with Yoshimo so the looks would fit the character.

* or some kind of hispanic / indian(dot) / indian(feather) Amerimutt, can't be sure from those tiny photos

I'd argue that if anything, BG3 suffers from a severe lack of diversity. While they shoehorned all races and colors into the game, they're all samey and whitewashed. The gith speak the same language as everyone else, generally dress the same as everyone, and their values are weird, but not truly alien. Drow are largely treated the same as other elves, with people being somewhat suspicious of them, but quickly getting over it. Compare that to the old days, when a drow would be murdered on sight if seen above ground. Dwarves have no specific accent, no speficic culture to tie them together. The druids in the grove have isolationist tendencies, but their beliefs aren't ever specified or delved into. Modern writing/critial theory has stripped culture and diversity of their meaning, making skin-suits out of them for the sake of selling **** to the widest possible audience. It's a sham and a **** shame.

I'd love it if there were more folks from Chult in the game, if they spoke about what it was like back home, how it's different over in Baldur's gate. I'm reminded of the French merchant in DA Origins, who tells you about her homeland and why she had to flee Denerim -- it's a great little interaction. Same goes for all the alien squadmates in Mass Effect, their differnt cultures and values is what makes them so fun.

There are ru translations for NA and RR somewhere here. Both work fine with their core mods in ru version at least in Act 1 which I tested.

Found the culprit, "Interesting Origins" https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/9359 . RR isn't really compatible with that, it seems.
Btw, is Durge is really a good idea for the first playthrough?

Could be a script randomisation issue could be purposeful, can't remember without checking. @Silver , can you confirm?

A good idea for genuine and brutal. A bad idea for a generic DnD experience.

Durge is the genuine playthrough, the character the game is primarily made for. All other are made as options, for variety if you will. Tav is if you want to play through it without a real story-connection, as just some random dude so to speak. As said above durge is brutal, but it's also a very genuine experience. Your character is practically a psycotic with urges to kill for pleasure. You can choose to embrace the urges and be utterly evil, or you can choose to resist them and be a tragic hero. It's the quintessential Baldur's Gate experience really, the character as he would have been in both BG1 and BG2 if those games were made by adults for an adult audience.

I would even go so far as to say this is what the BG1 and 2 protagonist should have been. But I guess they were really trying to keep it secret until the reveal. I'm old enough to have played BG1 when it first came out and it was my first D&D game. Yes, I was suitably horrified when I found that my naive Cleric of Lathander was a Bhaalspawn.
