Not a single attractive portrait in the bunch. If I wanted to see ugly people, I'd stop by the local college campus.
These are only half of them. I am sure the other 8 are significantly better :bounce:

Besides the ugliness, the armour looks straight out of a Marvel movie - it doesn't even remotely belong in the setting. They look like they were picked from the Hearthstone reject pile.

Should I try Neverwinter Nights? Did Beamdog **** up the re-release like they did with the Baldur's Gate duology remaster?

the undretide&underdark expansions were pretty good(they're meant to be played in order as it's two parts of a whole story), base game is terrible.

Yeah the NWN vanilla campaign is an excuse of an adventure that was only made to show what the game's creator tools could do.

The vanilla campaign of NWN2 is also quite meh, but that particular one is heavily tied to Mask of the Betrayer which is actually a very good campaign, so to fully enjoy it you have to ensure the vanilla campaign first.

Such a thing is not an issue with NWN thankfully. You can just ignore the vanilla campaign completely in that one.

Nah, that EE is fine. The issue here more is the OC. But if you have never played it, might as well play the Beamdog version.

Is anyone aware of a site that lets you set up a custom character creator, specifically with a positive/negative trait point buy system like this?

Don't find it particularly surprising that every publisher passed on a game where you have to play as a fat old ugly hag.

Gaider must have been seething with envy when Raph Colantonio got to do Woke West, two separate groups of Poles got to do Hard West and its sequel.

maybe it's not a good idea to let an obese 60 year old homosexual man decide on what product to spend the next 3-5+ years making which requires wide market appeal so your company doesn't go under

Man, what a lineup. Generica, the elven warrior from the land of Greenforestelfmistfairylandforestland and her CWUTE DWAGIN!. Grug, da fuckin' orc wit da glowy eyez. Da'Shawn the dark elf. HecksLacks the constipated barbarian.

And on the bottom we have Glambling, the Glow Hammer. Lilithilia, keeper of the magic urine. Androdgina, the key'd. Finally, there's Crow, ex-barber turned dickass elven rogue.

Basically, it's like a pre-WoW simulated MMO, with all the clunkiness, the grind, the good and the bad—you'll instantly be reminded of that era when you play it. It's a laudable effort, and I’ve had some fun with it recently, even if it gets a bit too grindy for my taste at times. But it really does feel like playing one of those ancient MMOs—minus the hassle of looking for a group. The bots simulate their roles surprisingly well.

Are there any driving RPGs? Like a proper rags to riches role playing driving game? That would be super fun.

I played two car MMOs, Drift City and Need for Speed World. Both had you start with mediocre cars and then you had to do quests/win races/evade police/smash enemy cars to progress and get better cars. NFSW (wow, what an unfortunate acronym) had nice looking sportscars, but I think Drift City overall felt the best due to its aesthetics and music. It had this futuristic sci fi vibe that and the lore made it feel somewhat interesting, whereas NSFW is just our modern mundane world. However, both were poor MMOs as there was no reason to group up with other people. I was pretty much playing a game by myself and occasionally seeing other people drive past.

I've had fun with it so far. It def has the "old school" feel. Which, in this case, translates to "purposely omits standard features present in modern MMOs". Reading through the game's reviews, discussion board, and discord, I'm not surprised to see people complaining about the dialogue system, lack of an interactive map, and not having quest indicators above NPCs.

That said, it's a neat idea that I can see people enjoying. I'm curious to see where the dev goes with it.

The lack of playable hobbits in RPGs is disappointing, especially when many of them are just "halflings" of the WotC D&D variety which are decidedly much different than Hobbits.

Hobbits are Tolkien IP, D&D had to be very careful about it to avoid getting sued.

Sure I might tell a work story to other friends at work or maybe a family member if it was funny but I wouldn't randomly broadcast it to the world on social media.

I know that sort of people. They are the type of narcissists that expect everyone in the world to agree with everything they say and they even expect clapping when they tell exaggerated stories about how they were mistreated.

It's definitely fun, but mostly for a specific group of players—those who discovered first-generation MMOs at release—because it really captures that feeling again. It also brings back many of the frustrating parts and mechanics, except one: the corpse runs. It's one of the rare indie games trying something new for sure, as I can't recall anything similar apart from privately owned servers with bots.

Azata in WotR get a unique dragon companion that grows as the game progresses
