I found Metroid Prime to be rather boring and generic. Also like two third of the upgrades you get are just different types of missiles, and like 90% of roadblocks are just rocks that can only be destroyed by a specific type of missile.

Im not far into it but I haven't had time to get tired of it yet, we'll see.

Withering Rooms.
2.5D indie with a surprising amount of systems (melee/ranged/magic, stealth, stats and leveling, puzzles, sanity/curse, status effects, armors, rings, upgrading etc), themes and content. Feels inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Haunting Grounds, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dark Souls/Bloodborne and many other sources. Great graphics and music/sound design.
The story is kinda weird and you play as a 15-yo girl. The whole thing shouldn't really work, but amazingly it does.
Almost through ng+2 and the third ending (/4).

Finished Gradius for the NES. I love the Parodius series but I didn't like this; too many projectiles you have to dodge with pinpoint precision, some bad framerates near the end, every boss is the same up until the end. Some iconic music that ended up being reused in Parodius at least.

The usual way to beat it is keeping the shields and max power until the end, as well as using the shortcuts and positioning your plane correctly on the volcano sections; instead of using a rewinder to get away with playing poorly on the first run. Makes avoiding the projectiles much easier.

Bioshit Infinite is atrocious on every level. I can't even see what you'd get out of the gameplay. What little fun Bioshock 1 and 2 had are gone in favor of riding around on magical rollercoasters that go nowhere, and Levine's little action girl tossing junk at you while you shoot predictable enemies isn't fun in the slightest. I also don't see how you can ignore the story when it's so BAD.

He accidentally made the race commies unambiguously bad, then pussied out and retconned it to them being misunderstood in DLC when he got **** on for it.

Right now Hogwart's Legacy, it has been a very immersive experience.

Sadly, it's not a true RPG. The combat's just click-to-win, zero build diversity, and the open world feels empty/lifeless. Huge disappointment

I've been marathonning Yakuza over the past couple months. I've wanted to get into the series and many years but kept putting it off. It is raw, uncut, unfiltered, unadulterated KINO of the highest order. It's easily one of my favorite series of all time now and I've loved every game. I'm currently playing Infinite Wealth which is the latest mainline entry, but I love the series so much I plan on playing Ishin! (spinoff with Yakuza characters set in the 1800s), Pirate Yakuza, and Judgment/Lost Judgment (same devs, same world, new story/characters) next

Also hard switching from beat em up to turn-based jrpg on the 8th entry of a series was such a ballsy move. I don't normally play beat em ups but I still enjoyed the Yakuza combat a lot (except for Y3), but I am a jrpgfag so seeing a series I'm already obsessed with make a switch to my favorite genre is just amazing. Like a Dragon was amazing and Infinite Wealth refined the gameplay so much, how a studio who's never made a jrpg did such a great job on their first attempts is really impressive.

I love Kiryu so much, one of the characters of all time for sure

Decided to try Schedule 1 because I found the number of positive reviews in the short space of time hard to believe.

All you do is the same grind over and over again and then do more grind in larger numbers. It's crap, don't play it.

They added a Shenmue-esque system where you turn the dial to call people.

It is cool that you can dial in to listen to radio dramas.


Kohei Tanaka's music is pleasant as usual. I prefer this new day theme to the first game's.

It sounds like when Yamazaki got possessed by the demons 2 years ago, he took his idea of the Koubu with him and that's why the demons started building mechs.




Having played SW5 and SW1, this is the first time I have heard about us having investigators or detectives. They seem to be pretty useless as we almost always wait for the bad guys to show up at some city block and start wrecking havoc, or for them to summon their evil JRPG final dungeon fortress at the end which we use the airship to go invade. I think the only time we ever got the jump on the bad guys at their hideout was in SW1, and IIRC that was by accident. We were just going into an abandoned house on a whim. It can't be that hard to track down the supply of metal and parts that the bad guys are using to build their robot armies.




I bet she's evil. But can unauthorized people just waltz past the gift shop in the front lobby into our base? It doesn't seem like there is anything stopping them from just walking through the front doors, walking down the corridor, going down the stairs into the basement, and seeing our mechs and command room. And do we have a way to scan new hires to make sure that they aren't demon impersonators like that officer from the last game who revealed the location of our secret base to the demons?




If she likes it so much up there in the attic then why doesn't she ask to have a chair brought up?




Having perused art galleries of Sakura Wars art years ago, I already know Reni is actually a girl. But it would be nice if I could have a reliable bro lieutenant. Subaru in SW5 was the closest we got if you headcanon him as a boy but then the weird asexual thing gets in the way.




The old Eisenkleid model looks stronger and cooler than our new cutting edge Koubu Kais.

You get to pick how the mission begins. Neat.

That hurt. I think the thing to do is to surround the enemy boss, have Ogami give the command to raise attack power, and then everyone on their second turn uses the defense option to halve incoming damage. That will give the most amount of outgoing damage and least amount of incoming damage. It doesn't seem practical to spam rest to try to recover mana to spam special attacks.

I apparently procced some sort of combo/followup attack, not sure what the requirements are. Does it happen if it will finish off a boss? How does the game determine who does the followup attack?




This might not happen with alarming regularity if those Moon Division detectives did their jobs!

I only played like a Dragon and infinite wealth. The former I enjoyed that is was my favourite game of 2020 with latter of infinite wealth I actively dislike it to point I may never touch another entry again. What a ******* disappointment.

I loved everything about Infinite Wealth aside from parts of the story and the terrible ending, but the gameplay still made it worthwhile for me. I had just got done playing every other game in the series first though so I actually appreciated the Kiryu stuff a lot. I was used to some dumb story **** from some of the other games, I had pretty much learned to embrace the retardation yet the IW ending was still terrible and the worst in the series by far. You should at least try Yakuza 0 even if you don't plan to play any others

That’s my main problem the story is **** with only serviceable gameplay . If the game primarily focused are its story I expect it to have decent writing. But no its characters are nonsensical, plot convinces galore, character regression ,awful anime tropes and constant tonal whiplash.I seen more logical planing from Dr Evil than the villains in this game.It’s very rare for me to actively dislike a game because of a bad story but this is one of those exceptions that completed sour my opinion about the entire game. Its hard to believe that this the same dev team that did the excellent spinoff judgement games that is better in every aspect that like dragon failed badly in.

Y0 is getting an English dub with the Switch 2 version that I'm sure will end up multiplat, but playing Yakuza games in English is a ******* crime against humanity. Kiryu is my absolute ****** so I don't care that he keeps coming back tbh, but after IW I'm sure he'll never be playable again, at least. Like a Dragon Gaiden was one of my favorite games in the series. I haven't gotten to Judgment yet, I'm really excited for them though. I know a lot of people consider LJ the best game RGG has ever made. I'm going to play them as soon as I finish Expedition 33
