I agree that art style is nice. I don't have any hopes for DA4 thoEmphyrio wrote: ↑ August 23rd, 2023, 21:10i didn't play those games but the art from them looked great. i hope the artists who made these get to work on a good game.Atlantico wrote: ↑ August 23rd, 2023, 20:55Yes, isn't it the same style as Dragon Age Keep and the DA3 icon style?

Even EA knows it's going to be a massive flop, it's why they cut off bioware's access to SWTOR's dev team.

Why is everyone still talking about these studios? They're dead, let them go.

Good thing I haven't eaten anything yet or I would've thrown up. What a nauseating display. Let's hope this crap releases soon so that BioWare will finally be put out of it's misery. It's the one studio EA should've closed a long, long time ago.Emphyrio wrote: ↑ August 23rd, 2023, 21:19The last two game directors for Dreadwolf left. This is the new guy.► Show Spoiler

Swen got rich despite that because it's a good game. Nu-bioware couldn't make a good game if their wife's boyfriend's life depended on it.wndrbr wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 01:54Seems like a premature decision. They could've just pivoted towards full blown gay/incest/bestiality simulators. Swen did it, and now he's filthy rich.

regardless of game's actual quality, Swen would've been living on the streets by now if not for the gay bear going viral among the degenerate normies.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:19Swen got rich despite that because it's a good game. It already sold something like 3 million copies in early access prior to any degenerate content being added.wndrbr wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:35regardless of game's actual quality, Swen would've been living on the streets by now if not for the gay bear going viral among the degenerate normies.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:19Swen got rich despite that because it's a good game. they've been spending the money earned during the early access period on BG3's further development. The bear is what propelled the game into the smash hit territory, otherwise it would've sold merely OK which isn't enough to keep multiple studios across the whole globe running.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:42It already sold something like 3 million copies in early access prior to any degenerate content being added.wndrbr wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:35regardless of game's actual quality, Swen would've been living on the streets by now if not for the gay bear going viral among the degenerate normies.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 02:19

The employees in Edmonton cost them almost nothing. Would expect that to stay open even if they don't get to keep the name or work as lead on a project.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 23rd, 2023, 18:34https://blog.bioware.com/2023/08/23/an- ... f-bioware/Bioware is going to be shut down once they manage to force the aborted fetus that is the next dragon age out the door.As part of this transition, we are eliminating approximately 50 roles at BioWare.

somehow the ******** avoided getting the chop. Instead they fired a writer who did the based Qunari for DAO and DA2, and a technical director who's been working with frostbite and helped them ship anthem.

Imagine choosing who to fire and you pick the one person left who has been there for more than 5 years.

Amazing how long Bioware takes to finish. When was the last time they made a new game that people enjoyed? Dragon Age Origins was the last one that was mildly enjoyable for me.
Once? They took away TOR's revenue to light a fire under Edmonton. It looks like that didn't work, so the next step was to cut their funding. It gets worse from here.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 23rd, 2023, 18:34https://blog.bioware.com/2023/08/23/an- ... f-bioware/Bioware is going to be shut down once they manage to force the aborted fetus that is the next dragon age out the door.As part of this transition, we are eliminating approximately 50 roles at BioWare.
From the perspective of triage it makes sense to fire higher-paid senior employees instead of the a greater number of juniors. She's also "just" a writer and Gaider's talked about how Bioware management grew to resent the writers because of the cost of voice acting and cinematic dialogues. Firing senior programmers would be a backwards decision, but if you don't care about writing, firing a senior writer is an easy call to make.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 07:44Imagine choosing who to fire and you pick the one person left who has been there for more than 5 years.

Based Qunari and detract Varric = about net zero
Honestly none of the writers there are worth a ****, DAO happened fifteen years ago and Bioware of that time is long gone. It doesn't rest on the shoulders of a handful of holdovers from that era. That Bioware died soon after DAO was released.
The ending was ****, but I enjoyed Mass Effect 3. The citadel dlc was pretty funny and the gameplay wasn't bad for popamole.Dead wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 09:27Amazing how long Bioware takes to finish. Social media lets these shitcans make an international tragedy out of something as mundane as getting laid off. A cushy job and guaranteed salary are not normal for 9/10 of the world.
Weirdest cracker you know.

from somebody who hasn't played the game, Varric appeared to be the most interesting character.
She's as pozzed and apologetic as it comes. This is purely about money.Shillitron wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 13:42Who lead the layoffs / who decided who gets chopped?
My headlarp here is that EA demanded they cut costs.. and since the patients are running the asylum in Edmonton now.. the 5 ****** HR + Directors left at bioshit, got in a room and talked about which people were problematic to their vision of nuu-Bioxere.
That woman probably stuck to her guns on some foundational pillar of the lore and didn't let it get pozzed up.. plus... and far more importantly.. had two x chromosomes. They never had a chance.
You mean she makes too much?Roguey wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 18:02She's as pozzed and apologetic as it comes. This is purely about money.Shillitron wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 13:42Who lead the layoffs / who decided who gets chopped?

He's far worse in DA:I .. but what do I know.. I've tried to play that game 3 times and can't stomache it longer than a few hours.Emphyrio wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 13:48from somebody who hasn't played the game, Varric appeared to be the most interesting character.

Yeah, a senior employee is going to draw a bigger salary than a junior.
Is that really the reason? It's likely they draw more money and are perceived as not valuable / worth it.Roguey wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 19:36Yeah, a senior employee is going to draw a bigger salary than a junior.
I am positive people with fatter paychecks survived the chop.

Yeah it'd be daft to just sort employees by salary and cut the ones at the top first, that would get rid of management in its entirety.Shillitron wrote: ↑ August 24th, 2023, 19:39Is that really the reason? I am positive people with fatter paychecks survived the chop.It would also hurt them to lose too many senior programmers. Here was a writer who was getting paid more than several other writers, they consider writing unimportant or fungible, easy decision to make to save them from having to fire two people instead of her.
I've been through several fortune 500 company purges. Assholes and People who don't fit culture get axed just as often as overpaid dolts.
