Upstairs at the Inn's common room.

George strides back into the common room of The Mountain's Last Light, leaving the chaos of the cellar behind him. He approaches Brenna, who is still near the bar, looking anxiously towards the cellar door after Ostgar hurried back down with the candles.

With a grunt, George hefts the rough sack and drops it unceremoniously onto the wooden floor near her feet. The dull thud is accompanied by the distinct smell of dead rodent, adding to the lingering tension in the air. "Here you are, old woman!" he declares, perhaps a bit too loudly, gesturing at the sack. "Three dead ratties! That's a quarter of them killed by one man...".

Brenna recoils, first at the sack hitting her clean floor, wrinkling her nose in disgust at the sight and smell. "Gods' mercy, man! Not... not right there!" she stammers, gesturing vaguely for him to move it. But then her eyes fix on the sack, and a flicker of relief crosses her weary features. Dead rats. Proof that progress is being made below. "Three... dead?" she confirms, peering cautiously at the lumpy sack. "Good. Good riddance."

However, in George's next words, he dismisses his companions. "My men can clean up the rest. They're decent ratters." and immediately demands "In the mean time, I'll take a bowl of onion soup and you can show me to a room." Her brow furrows. She hired a large group, not just one man and his supposed underlings. And Ostgar just ran up asking for more candles – suggesting the job wasn't finished.

She draws herself up slightly, her practical, overworked nature taking over. "Soup, yes, there's soup on the hearth, help yourself to a bowl if you must," she says, her tone light and with warmth. "A room? You – all of you – will have get a big room and the rest of your payment when my cellar is cleared. Properly cleared. Are the others... is it finished down there? That lad Ostgar just took down more candles..."

Her expression is a mixture of lingering disgust at the rats on her floor and weariness from the whole ordeal. She wants the job done, fully, before handing out rewards beyond basic sustenance.
:read:
Did you work this out with George's player? (Sorry, don't have them memorized)
From the outside it definitely looks like a fitting reaction from the Inn-keeper, the blue text is identical to what the player said.

I just attacked out of combat, I hope I've done it right. Didn't expect any entity to be surprised as we all know we face our enemies directly but trying to get ahead initiative wise.

Don't need to roll Initiative for the first combat round. We may roll it in the next if the fight continues.

Quick suggestion, I think the 2 heckin doggos in the party should get names otherwise we're bound to mix them up eventually. At least tell us what race they are.

Interesting video, and pretty much correct.

Letting peoples characters shape the story, rather than letting the story shape the characters leads to LARP cringe.

@Irenaeus Does my attack not go off against the monster rat? I'd already rolled the dice for a To Hit of 13 and it was a pretty good damage roll for 9. The attack was conditional on the giant rat charging Stein, which is exactly what it did.

Edit:
Sorry, I missed the counter attack text. I see it now.

But the momentary distraction doesn't stop the primary threat. Fueled by agony and rage, the Big One gathers its massive haunches. Its unnatural muscles bunch, and with horrific momentum born of sheer size and weight, it launches itself forward in a devastating leap. It bypasses attempts to block or redirect, aiming squarely for the front line. Stein Von Steiner, having just readied his sword to strike after hearing Kal Arion’s warning, finds himself directly in its path. Before he can fully react, the monster is upon him, a flurry of raking claws testing his defenses and the snapping jaws lunging forward.

A tremendous bite on Stein's neck has the beast knocking him down and it lands on its all fours after the leap. It is in pain and hurting and looking all around and twitching its monstrous body in a defensive position trying to zoom in another target.

I'm going to have Stein run for his life going for the cellar stairs!

What's the tactical situation with the amount of rats? 1 minion and 1 big one left?

I was gonna cast Cure Light Wounds to get you at least some HP back before you retreated. But it's understandable.
