Out of all the Fire Emblem entries, I’ve only played Path of Radiance. Are the newer ones any good? If I recall correctly, the story in Path of Radiance was pretty typical by JRPG standards. I’ve always heard this series described as the bedrock of degeneracy in Japanese games—incest, lolis, faggotry, and the like. How much of that is present in the later games? I remember when Engage came out, the graphics looked like something a literal who indie dev would churn out.
I don't know if they started trying to appeal to women with Awakening, but the dating sim aspect of it was like cat nip to them and the series has been ultra-faggoty ever since.
I don't think it was women so much as horny 13 year old western redditors. Awakening was a massive, massive success internationally that basically brought the franchise back from the brink of extinsion. This is why is filled so much with fanservice (of all kinds), it was a sort of "last hurrah" for the series, either they made bank or they would have been sent to frozen storage for a few decades.

But yes, it leaned heavily into the dating sim aspect and, as other Fire Emblems before it, extreme glazing of the protagonist unit which was meant as a self-insert. So, extreme pandering to the player. And because it was so popular it basically marks a watershed moment for the series, with it considered the "nu Fe" in contrast to the GBA era and the Shouzo Kaga era in the SNES and NES. I would be curious to see how the popularity has shifted in demographics after Awakening.

perhaps the most ridiculous part of pillars of eternity gods is that not a single one of them is attractive. Actually, I'll go further and say they range from ugly to hideous monsters.
There's probably 30+ portfolios between them and not a single one has anything related to any sort of beauty.

I don't think pillars could've been saved by even the sexiest of gods.

I have started playing Wizardry 6 and wanted to ask, is there a name for this type of movement that requires clicking arrows? I personally really love this type of game, but am not sure how to call this type of movement system though I played plenty that are like this.

Not all RPGs where you control a group of units who move as one are solely oriented around exploring dungeons.

Kingmaker has heavy fae focus at times, especially towards the end

Amalur to some extent due to it making use of celtic mythos

I don’t understand why people are so fond of Dragon Quest. I played 1, 2, 4, and 11, and they all felt uninspired and boring. Especially XI—it’s the most vanilla JRPG experience you could expect from a relatively recent release. It also doesn't completely escape my nitpicks with anything made by the Japanese, like the "she may look like a little girl, but she's actually much older than she appears" trope. The melodramatic and overly drawn-out departure scene between the mermaid and the fisherman didn’t help either. In addition, There's this flaming homo party member, Sylvando, who keeps pestering you to ram his butthole. Like ****** I’m not interested, **** off. But aside from that, it’s pretty average across the board. Maybe
The fans make countless excuses for it because it’s one of the few JRPG franchises, if not any big established game franchise in general, that has stayed true and authentic to its original formula. At it's core, a homage to old Final Fantasy games and traditional JRPG fandom.
Speaking from a DQ11 perspective.

Sometimes I like to boot up a team-based RPG that's mostly or completely about combat. Extra points for looking good.
DQ11 lets you skip most of the dialogue and cutscenes, keeping the flow uninterrupted. Just combat and equipment management. Although there are... a few long non-combat sections that irk me. :notsureif:

Don't find many modern RPGs like that. Only other one I enjoyed recently is King Arthur: Knight's Tale. Never got into FF but recent entries seem to be very cinematic.

Most used for sure on the Codex. Probably originates from there.

I’m remember that people were so dissatisfied with the ending of PO2 that Obsidian to try to rectify the ending with a patch . Haven’t seen a game did that since Mass Effect 3 ending shitshow controversy.
