In Rogue Trader he's just a man, he even leads his armies to glory, in some of the early worldbuilding, but that changed in the lead up to 2nd. Later in 2nd, its possible he's died and harrowing the Warp. HH was all a dead and distant memory, nothing but hear say and heresy, until the novels. I think some of Rogue Trader's fluff ended up in HH.Kalarion wrote: β March 24th, 2025, 22:21The Monkey's Paw curls. TLDR; 40k lore is a complete mess and there is no established canon. Older editions seem to imply the emperor is Jesus, but that has seemingly been dropped.
Rogue Trader and I think Second Ed? Maidenhaver can perhaps confirm here, had the Emperor as just a man. A great man but that's all. The same with his Primarchs. They were just human generals of his armies. He wasn't turned into a not-god until like 3rd Ed, at which point several implied origin stories were created.
The first was that he was born immortal in the mists of Earth's pre-history, and was literally every influential religious figure in history (and most of history's Great Men), trying to guide humanity on the Golden Path to Secular Humanism. Then there was the idea that he was the spiritual gestalt of a council of psychic shamans who sacrificed their lives in a ritual that created the Nietzschean Ubermensch. Then there was the Starchild/Sensei, which was some Eastern mysticism wuwu ****.
Each of these received Black Library support in one book or another btw.
They finally settled on the "born immortal in pre-history" origin for the Horus Heresy.
He also "canonically" hates all organized religion, and did indeed attempt to force Secular Humanist Atheism on the entire Imperium (his dramatic smackdown of the Word-Bearers and Lorgar was the genesis of Lorgar's rebellion).

To be clear, I wasn't trying to say he was turned into not-god in the Horus Heresy in-universe event. I meant, GW decided on the origin story during the writing of the Horus Heresy novel series. It was strongly suggested from the very beginning of the Perpetuals arc, and explicitly confirmed by ADB in Master of Mankind (with the usual ****** copouts).maidenhaver wrote: β March 24th, 2025, 22:53In Rogue Trader he's just a man, he even leads his armies to glory, in some of the early worldbuilding, but that changed in the lead up to 2nd. The thing about the Horus Heresy is that the only reason why it even was mentioned as a footnote in the very 1st edition of Rogue Trader is that GW didn't have enough dough at the time to make more than one army of miniatures, so they decided to pit the singular army against itself as a civil war between Loyalists and Traitors and the Horus Heresy was the fluff to justify it.
I reckon that back when the very first 40k rulebook was released in 1987, nobody was none the wiser of the massive cash cow that single line of fluff was going to be decades later.

Why do some actual ******* work when you can just farm clicks to your website. Seems to be a growing trend.

That's like half of 40k lore. Some drunk britbong puts on a Duran Duran LP and goes "my guys are the *hic* Dark Angels and their boss is called *hic* Lionel Jonson!" and everybody has to kayfabe for the next 35 years, pretending that's not cringe as ****, because **** those miniatures look cool.UltraFan123 wrote: β March 25th, 2025, 04:47I reckon that back when the very first 40k rulebook was released in 1987, nobody was none the wiser of the massive cash cow that single line of fluff was going to be decades later.

Why zero Eldar/Aeldari games? Why did the tau get their own game but not the elves?
I'm just stating the facts.

With how bad Firewarrior was, the Eldar come out on top by not having one.

Because they're ******* with a capital F, especially the Dark Eldar.
Because the bongs couldn't resist the siren call of androgynous (space) communism. Why did the tau get their own game but not the elves?
I hate Tau so ******* much. Every other faction has some debilitating weakness or flaw that holds them back except them - and no, being a small empire is not an actual flaw, that's the kind of malus that a Mary Sue has.
They are almost immune to Warp shenanigans, there's no discord or rebellion among their ranks (barring Farsight) to the point not even their more Warp-sensitive races seem to have an issue, the human worlds their conquer aren't a perpetual Iraqi Insurgency on steroids on a planetary scale, they managed to develop technology to rival all the other races in a few centuries, they can apparently brainwash Inquisitors with ease, their power armor somehow makes their warriors the equal of space marines, they can take out titans with ease etc.
The imperium is eye rollingly boring

I apologize if my responses were not relevant to your needs. As an AI language model, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions, and I only provide responses based on the information provided to me.
I always did found the Empire of Man from Warhammer Fantasy far more interesting than the 40k one, I guess because the Fantasy version is a rare case of a nation based on the Holy Roman Empire, while the 40k one felt more like a typical sci-fi setting but with medieval superstition injected into it.

Tau were new, they needed advertising. The game sucked, and they suck. GW basically split Tau from fluff about Rogue Trader Orks, then turned both grimdark. Its gay.Vergil wrote: β March 26th, 2025, 08:39Why zero Eldar/Aeldari games? Why did the tau get their own game but not the elves?

afaik nobody likes(liked?) the tau
they're basically libtards so they'll eventually just make them not-imperium to attract people to actually buy tau stuff

The Imperium is the most interesting part of 40K and xenophiles can seethe about the attention that is rightfully lavished on it by GW. Xenos exist to be killed by Ultrachads.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
I've been working on a Blood Angels army for 3rd edition lately and it's finally starting to shape up. Me and my friend played a small game last week where I managed to beat his death guard list by avoiding his giant terminator blob. Anybody else have some tabletop projects their working on?
If I want to play as an Aeldari what are my video game options?

Yes, through their faith on the God-Emperor of Mankind and the idea of rejecting the heretic, the unclean and the mutant, they are also more likely to fend off the alure of the Chaos gods. So, the Imperium is absolutely based and most definitely the good guy in the setting.rusty_shackleford wrote: β March 21st, 2025, 23:16(not big into wh40k)
repeatedly read libtards saying how "akshually the emperor would have demanded everyone be atheist and he would have hated having himself be worshiped!!!"
looked into it, and it's because gods are made by believing in them in the setting and he didn't want more chaos gods made

if anything, it seems like them believing the Emperor is a god turns him into one, a very effective one against chaos
Woketards are just coping claiming chuds don't understand satire.
They are straight up libtards.rusty_shackleford wrote: β March 26th, 2025, 18:59afaik nobody likes(liked?) the tau

They are divided into 5 castes. The Ethereal caste uses mind control and/or pheromones to mindrape the others into doing their bidding all for the "Greater Good". The Tau empire conquers other alien races and integrates them into their empire but castrates them and prohibits their reproduction, like they did with the Kroots.
They ethereals are ***** and the rest of the empire are westoid woketards following the orders of their ruling class for "the Greater Good".
I like Craftworld Eldar. I think they are cool and they had very compelling lore before they were flanderized.Vergil wrote: β March 26th, 2025, 19:09Cool fellas

But, they are still xenos filth so they must be purged in the Emperor's name. But amongst the xenos filth, they are the most acceptable ones.
