I started off with high Martial Arts and Speechcraft, but a couple hours later I realized I can't talk my way out of a bullet's trajectory or reach the guy before it's fired.Tadeusz wrote: ↑ March 24th, 2025, 18:48What build did you play?Valter wrote: ↑ March 24th, 2025, 18:20Wanna start a new game with a different build right away but I know it feels better to reflect on the experience for a bit first.
So with the best armor and painkillers money can buy, I became The Wall while my teammates did most of the killing. It was really fun, though some encounters were hell. (mainly ambushes
Kinda wanna actually do some damage next time

199 speechcraft is a lot of points wasted. You should have spent it on underrated skills like Pickpocketing if you don't play on anti-savescummer difficulty. It's easy money.

I get your strat, kinda reminds me of getting rich in Skyrim
It might seem excessive, but I find persuasion/charisma skills to be busted in most video games

God Gambling is such a meme skill, what the hell did I even level it for? A couple dice games? I noticed some stat checks with it too, but it felt so irrelevant overall

Most underrated skill ever. You can steal a PKM as early as level 5.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ March 24th, 2025, 23:48imagine being a thiefRyzer wrote: ↑ March 24th, 2025, 23:32199 speechcraft is a lot of points wasted. Cheating at games of chance should have been combined with pickpocket into a more general sleight of hand skill, and any honest gambling checks should have been against your luck.Valter wrote: ↑ March 24th, 2025, 23:50God Gambling is such a meme skill, what the hell did I even level it for? I am wrapping things up around the areas I visited in the past and this thing jumpscared me XD Is this all a reference to something? This whole area was very strange. A bit sad there was no mysterious underground train system in the end.
Don't want to make a double post but wanted to share to anyone that wants to play this game, unload guns before selling them! You can do this from the inventory by clicking and holding onto the weapon as you would do to Use an item. If the gun is loaded it will give the option to unload it, this gives you the bullets which can be used for your other weapons.

How about a game that's fun to play instead?
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

I eventually turned into a scavenger, immediately unloading every weapon I came across like some rat looking for crumbs.DagothGeas5 wrote: ↑ March 25th, 2025, 03:47I am wrapping things up around the areas I visited in the past and this thing jumpscared me XD Is this all a reference to something? @DagothGeas5 By the way, wanted to ask about toadstools - do they give any useful insights beside those mentioned before? I only used them once to save myself from an encounter after Bunker 317 so I'm interested if there's more to them than meets the eye.
I have personally found one encounter specifically that comes to mind, besides the spiral in Otradnoye, located in Dead City. There is a skeleton there and a more fresh corpse, they are located in the station to the South in the underground tunnels (the station starts with "K", I forget the name presently). The spiral is located just outside Otradnoye near the radioactive truck skeleton and it relates to a ritual that also requires a specific book (taken from completing a quest for the bookseller in Krasnoznamenny). It can be completed at night-time only that I noticed and recall, the book says more. If you want more information on the skeleton place do let me know, I am being obscure on purpose to let you discover it, but I can say more if you'd like no problemTadeusz wrote: ↑ March 25th, 2025, 09:20@DagothGeas5 By the way, wanted to ask about toadstools - do they give any useful insights beside those mentioned before? I am sure there are others that I am forgetting at the moment (one that I recall but that I doubt is related to the mushrooms, is a man with a pig I met in Otradnoye), I plan to make a character specifically to catch all the possible things I missed with them.

I was so geared up for the last fight, and instead it ended peacefully, I was not expecting that XD I managed to talk the General into speaking to the mushroom-experiment into finding a way to cooperate without making "mind-slaves" (Unity), I am very curious to see what will happen in Trudograd. I am very sad Fidel died according to the ending slides, but at least he died fighting. I was also surprised to manage to get Alexander to join my team. When I saw the Personality check I realized it must be important and "powered" up my otherwise 5 (with a malus rendering it 3) Charisma with all I had in my inventory and managed to succeed the check, very glad I did.
This game is one I absolutely was not ever expecting, especially that, as I recall already mentioning, was made recently. It truly feels like an older game made with modern potential like I had hoped to see when games started to get more advanced. To list all that I love would be truly just linking the game at this point. I did notice the dialogue was cut or the subtitles not matching what was spoken or missing pieces (like in the ending slide I got for Dan's factory for example), the companion AI at times felt like the game was tired of the player winning and purposefully sabotaged allies, there also were issues with the camera visuals where items were barely visible and required manouvering and quick clicking to interact with (though most issues were mitigated by the game allowing to click through walls), and on one instance my character was spawned too close to a truck during a random encounter to save a caravan, rendering it impossible for me to move and forcing a restart. These issues are all fine and dandy for me, but if I was to use the Survival difficulty option, they would be lethal, which renders issues like these unforgivable for those runs (I myself played on Normal to try the game, but will play on Survival my next playthrough so we shall see how these issues fare then).
What I really liked was, aside the care for the animations (like the coughing, and hallucinations too, having their own special idles) and the world itself, was the care given to every single character in the game and how traits the player character has, or the stats, and even status, was reacted to and accounted for. This is a game I will treasure for certain and am looking forward to more by this team if they keep the same passion as they did for this one
I can also testify that, indeed, this game doesn't lose steam as it progresses. It retains the same drive it had from its start, and I deeply appreciate that too.
As per my usual, but never without feeling behind it, thank you @Oyster Sauce for hosting these
If the reward thing you mentioned during the poll was not a joke, I hope you enjoy your reward also! I was afraid I wouldn't make it in time for you, but even with the exams and completing everything the game offered (as I wouldn't be playing if I just rushed through mindlessly, thus undermining the very reason why I am playing in the first place, whatever the stakes), I still managed to complete it within the month

Is it me or the Morlocks have insane crit chance? Like they can deal -7 hit points per attack and then suddendly they start doing crit a lot and deal massive damage. Molotov cocktails do nothing for some reasons even though it should be burning them like in Underrail.
Btw I killed everyone at the Circus. No ****** or child molester allowed.

Comrade commissar of trade tasked my character to eliminate the freaks at the Circus because according to him they are child molesters. I had no option to ask if it was true, the only option I had is a story about his past life. Maybe they lied, maybe they told the truth, but the portraits gave them look of freaks.
You could actually talk with the circus' staff and check their stories. I don't think that this is implied somewhere but the questgiver has a motive for lying about that.Ryzer wrote: ↑ March 25th, 2025, 15:08I had no option to ask if it was true, the only option I had is a story about his past life.

Yeah I know, but in the end you gain more money and exp by killing everyone. There is one clown that is said to have been a child molester and was lynched by his own people some time before the start of the game.

Fair point. I think siding with the circus gives extra exp so it's possible to cross everyone for profitRyzer wrote: ↑ March 25th, 2025, 15:47Yeah I know, but in the end you gain more money and exp by killing everyone. Something like 5000 Rub + 1000 exp
