I just can't take him seriously because of the book...
I think I've heard of this cancerous writing. Is this one where he breaks into Sheperd's cabin and eat his cereal? :headbang:

If that was accurate, the author deserves much worse than crucifixion.

What the **** is this?
And why does it read as if written by a 5 year old with downs?

I used to LOVE reading and would get fully immersed with a good book, eyes phasing out and not really "seeing the words" on the page, but playing it all out it all in my head as if it was a movie.
How the **** can you do that with this ****?

I wish they kept the ambient Normandy music in all three games

Just the right amount of tension, wonder and intrigue. Perfect for a futuristic Sci-Fi / space exploration of the unknown setting.
This really lent well to the whole atmosphere of Mass Effect.

Loved exploring the citadel, too. Felt like I was in an episode of ******* Star Trek or something.

I agree, I was just correcting you.
Unrelated but seeing the massive push to make femshep the canon one is ******* hilarious, I've never seen a protagonist forced as hard except female V.

Soldier was the most played class, huh. I remember that ME at character creation did not present the other classes very well. It didn't feel like there were distinctive class fantasies there, like how in STO you very definitely knew what the flavor of the engineer was with him laying down turrets and shield generators.

It's no surprise the default setting had the highest percentage.

Vanguard and Infiltrator numbers should inform the type of play players were excited about. No surprise that people like playing a sniper, and I'm sure many soldier players went with that approach as well. But people really like charging into the fray with a shotgun and they should be considering that when they make the next one. Perhaps just have two areas of focus: guns and biotics, and allow the gunner to be good at sniping and vanguarding.

Also of note, over half of the people who started as femshep did not finish the trilogy.
That 18% femshep number is % of female gamers + % of men larping as jennifer hale.

The problem is that, of course, people will play the classes they most enjoy and/or give them the greatest combat advantage.

Engineer, Adept and the other non-soldier derived classes have the problem that their powers are either situational, fiddly or rely on an AI to do it's job (engineer with the drone). This gets worse on higher difficulties: On lower difficulties an Adept can shred through enemies with ease and ignore cover with singularities; but on higher difficulties everyone and everything has armor, which blocks most powers from working until you have removed the armor with gunfire... in which case you could just continue shooting and kill the enemies outright instead of bothering with fancy biotics.

It's telling that no challenging enemy uses biotics outside of flash-step, movement abilities or enemy-only abilities.

I never understood the Human Reaper concept
Image

So... they were harvesting human bodies and cells to... make a gigantic human-shaped Reaper? And they were using husks of Protheans they made into Spiders to do so... And they found us so extraordinary that they did it with us instead of Turians, Salarians, or Asaris before us?

ME2 is so overrated

Human-shaped Reaper was the only cool thing about ME2's world building. Then ME3 shat on that by making all reapers look like Harbinger instead of coming up with unique designs based on extinct races.

ME2 is downright ********. Offers the best gameplay in the series, and the companion quests are decent, but its like they put an absolute moron in charge of everything else.

No reason to pretend ME2 has better shooty-pooty other than to be contrarian.
ME3 has better gun controls & significantly better AI

ME3 has significantly worse combat mechanics, I found it janky compared to ME2 with all the changes it brought.

You are objectively wrong and should consider fire or ****.

To be fair that's a very easy contest for KOTOR to win since the two games were made in the early 2000s by peak Bioware and peak Obsidian. Include TOR and maybe the comparison is a little more fair.

Reminding everyone ME2 was supposed to have this system as a fallback for when thermal clips ran out but playtesters were ******** ****** cattle and got "confused" by this so they cut it entirely.

This **** was so cool. I loved trying to time when the perfect detonation would go off. Also I miss when there were real and varied armor sets for you and all your party members instead of 2-3 clothing options that are cosmetic for your party members.

There's a mod for ME2 that brings the hybrid system back.

Edit: eww, ****, I haven't been to Nexusmods in a while. The UI sucks even more **** when you try to use the search to actually look for mods.
