This is true though.

Rusty is actually right that no small amount of JRPG depict Western religion as the bad ones or at least under a somewhat negative light, which does get tiresome.
I've lost track of the number of times I've killed the Pope and/or God in a JRPG. They get a taste of their medicine once and the flip their ****. Which is actually based, but weebs defending them is gay.

I was watching parts of that speech in another video(Assassin's Creed Shadows went too far) as well. I don't believe they actually care about anything that happened in the video game. Instead this is just an excuse to push more censorship and 'Hate Crime'(TM) law.

"Here's my worry: In this game, non-player characters and these real places used without permission, you can attack them or destroy them. What if that kind of behavior in the game spills over into the real world? Could it inspire copycat nuisance acts? That's what's on my mind."

"...Sure, it ties into freedom of expression, but freedom taken the wrong way? That's not okay with me. It shouldn't fly."

Those chains limiting what they can and cannot say are easy to put on, but I think they'll find them quite difficult to remove afterward.

real places used without permission

We're supposed to ask permission to depict 500 year old locations?
If Chinese politicians were acting like this it would get (rightly) mocked.

tired of weebs pretending the average jap game isn't 10x more woke than ac shadows
GBF is either the top-grossing, or very close to it, game out of Japan.
the game grossed at least ¥54.8 billion ($499 million) in Japan between 2017 and 2018.
GBF has a variety of ******** in it, most recently introducing this character, a man who wants to be a woman

Weebs were, of course, upset that the western translation did not respect his pronouns or whatever by instead localizing it as a ****** instead of some very specific kind of 2spirit ******.
Actual picture from a BASED anti-western article trying to **** on localizers:

LMAO

Yeah, Chinese politicians never throw hissy fits over anything that goes against the Glorious 5000 Years of Unbroken Harmonious Chinese History. And they're always dignified and reasonable when discussing the fee-fees of Chinese people.

Though in a sense you are correct - they do get rightly mocked, at least abroad, when they ***** over Lara Croft riding a bike over the Great Wall (this literally happened and they banned the movie).

Now for the flood of articles saying how well the game sold and how Ubisoft is 'happy' with sales, only to find out a few months from now they are very displeased with how poorly the game sold.

While I agree with your point, I can't really blame japs for being ****** off. If we westerners are a bunch of pussies that don't make any complaint when they mock our culture, the issue is on us at that point.

If we want to indulge in some schadenfreude, the majority of Korean manwhas depict Japanese as slimy, contemptible bastards (due to historical animosity), and the bad guys in general.

We should go back to wildly misrepresenting every foreign culture like we did in the 70s-90s. It was a lot more fun.

And yet their bitching got violence in shrines removed on a day 1 patch, Ubishit sales let's say for now are not rosey at all, and the rejection of this game is at a national level when the Map gov butted in for brownie points (I would love to see their sales number in Japan).

My point being, bitching works.

If anything, we are even weaker ******* than them since we don't even complain when an anachronistic black guy lectures us, in our own home, that we are all savages while his country is the blackwashed version of ******* Atlantis, with yoghurt, honey and human flesh on the side.

A trivia I discovered just yesterday, apparently Oda Nobunaga's nickname was the "Demon King" / "Demon Daimyo" due to his ruthless policies.

Stop conflating my point of view here. I never said censorship is ok. My stance on that would be that politicians using this game as a launch platform for hate speech laws should be imprisoned for life; at the least. However, it is ok for me that an entire population is offended and "******* about it" to the point the company insulting them goes bankrupt.

If I were to conflate your stance like you are doing with mine here, it would be "just consume product and never complain about it". I am sure you are not thinking that. Let's not do that to each other.

You can not buy the product, you can boycott the product. But when you have the prime minister of japan whining about how their culture is being 'disrespected', oh **** off.

At many points in history things could have gone very differently, if we chose more wisely.

It's like western game devs going woke and China swooping in. Chinese corpos are bastards because they funded DEI and ESG? Sure. Western devs taking the woke deal are the ones who took the bait hook, line and sinker though.

In 300 years, Christianity will still exist in some form. Communist China will be a footnote in a history book.
