There is a cool assault rifle locked in a locker waiting for all you thieves out there in Krasnoznamenny's weapons shop.

The merchants in Kakroznanosmmy are more cutthroat than any bandit
I have started to use the pharmacy and hospital as my merchants quite a while ago due to the outrageous prices and noticing they give a much better price. Now that I can kill without being killed as easily I just dump things on those merchants also as the sheer volume of items I own allows me to buy things anyway, but it is a real hassle dealing with them :? I love the feature though, someone I met in the game even told me to never buy anything in that city (which I love is reflected in the game and not simple "flavour text"), fortunatly I already had things sorted by then and even had found a better merchant in the sewers/catacombs.
I do appreciate that the game lets you get swindled with bad deals if you're not paying attention to the prices. :pirate:
The jew book keeper's prices in particular are just so on-brand :smug:

This game truly has it all, I am loving it more and more the more I play it. This type of details is something I really love, I finally feel rewarded for my continuous going back and forth to check back on NPCs I met, reading stuff and asking questions in a specific order, it truly has everything I ever wanted for a game's reactivity and character details

I wasn't expecting it to have such extensive reactivity and foresight when I played it. Rarely ever does the game not have an option I'd expect it to have. Enjoyed it a lot, even enjoyed just talking to NPCs because they'd have a lot of dialogue about where they live or what they do rather than purely quest-related stuff.

Indeed! Even the go back dialogue are accounted for, or even if asking for a character's name (or the name being revealed for the character if they mention it and similar), there truly is so much to love

Man I'd like to get involved in a lot of these 'guild' playthroughs as I have a number of them. Such a long backlog and with long/random work hours I can never get around to them. Hoping to get to this sometime. Got a character made, just too little time/don't allocate enough time to get to it. Maybe at some point ffs...

@DagothGeas5 Wow, never noticed these special descriptions on companions' character lists.

Yes, it is a nightmare. They shot so many times in me or other companions :D it is vastly improved in Trudograd though so their AI is decent enough there even on default.

I myself only noticed the AI being wonky after quite a while in-game, as if the longer I play the more the AI breaks, but especially with Fidel. He "gets stuck" as if on purpose, randomly walks away from a fight without a reason to, continually reloads an already reloaded weapon, spends his turn aimlessly loitering around instead of firing, and more. Another issue I found is when I tell the dog to avoid combat he "runs away" towards the enemy, then wastes the rest of his AP going from between two squares as if positioning himself in the middle of the fray on purpose. As for shooting, in my game they do their best to move a square away just to not shoot me, but there have been moments.

While its really easy to get shot, most of the times at least it was partly my fault and I felt you could have been avoided by better positioning.

I played it some time ago and wanted to try mods, used Phenomenon, Neutron and a new car model. It was much less immersive but quite different and enjoyable, especially the new companion, random encounters and weapons. The new balance and writing weren't great.

I do like it when games include friendly fire, but god **** they really should position themselves better before blasting away at my dog! :headbang:
The biggest problem is as @DagothGeas5 said. The AI randomly breaks and a full HP Fidel decides to go check if he left the stove on. :old2:

And yet, legends tell of the unthinkable: a decent AI, only to be found in Trudograd. Tales don't get much taller than that, but I want to BELIEVE...!

Are you issuing orders to your companions in combat? I don't think the game explains this, iirc.

It doesn't, but I figured it out. Yeah and they're all set to aggressive, I even order it so again when they start running around. Oddly enough, making them change weapons sometimes fixes the issue? Maybe? That's the impression I got on a few times I tried doing that, but it doesn't always work so I dunno. :pipe-thinking:

It was bad for me even with orders. Telling them to run away - they run into enemies; telling them to hold position - they run to it and then around it wasting action points :groan: Setting targets though may be useful.

So I decided to try Atom RPG and make a luck character with almost maxed-out 10 Luck, just to see how my character will fare because people consider luck to be useless.

So far, it's alright. I had quite a few dialogue check saved by a luck check.

Luck should either be maxed or left at 1, there's very little benefit for anything between.

I don't know if I should invest into pistols or go for automatic rifles and invest points into it. The assumption I have right now is that pistols are good early game but suck mid to end game and rifles shine.

I personally really like the failed Luck checks XD
There was one especially at Thug Fortress where there was awkward silence and the background cough even XD I love how they can set the scene and explain so beautifully what a character is doing. Much like reading a book, I can see the scene right before my eyes.

I played with pistols the whole game and they are decent (especially SMGs, like the skorpion or PPS-43) but maybe not as powerful as rifles. I delegated rifle skills to the companions so accumulated ammo could be used.

Is there some way to target companions to heal them through some UI or something that is not the inventory screen? I am exploring the underground in Dead City and was fighting the huge reptile monsters (called demons that I saw) and they take up so much space on the screen that I can't see Dzhulbars to heal him.

Been a while since I played, but you should be able to use any usable item by either equipping it or opening the action menu on an NPC and using it on them?
But I don't think that would help your situation

IIRC I had to tell the dog to stay back for most of the later game fights as he would go down way too fast.
