As far as I understand, yes. The game holds zero appeal to me so I haven't played it.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 20:27Is it just running to NPC, talking to them, and running to the next NPC?rusty_shackleford wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 20:25Disco Elysium does not have combat.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 20:24Versus gameplay like combat or solving puzzles or whatever you do in that game?

There's no combat or puzzles per say in Disco Elysium. Outside of dialogue boxes there are walking and finding items. I think most gameplay-heavy feature there is changing gear and assigning stat points / thought perks.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 20:24Versus gameplay like combat or solving puzzles or whatever you do in that game?

RiceARonin is 175 gigs once fully installed. That should be illegal.

It doesn't even pass Ghost of Tsushima (a 50 GB game on PS4 disk) in graphical quality yet it's 3x the size, modern game devs really are ********.pillbox wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 22:13RiceARonin is 175 gigs once fully installed. That should be illegal.

I like the plot twist in one of the Yakuza games where a character is from a rival foreign Asian gang and nobody knew because they all look the same

Yet for some reason japs get the pass most of the time. I enjoyed Rice-A-Ronin on ps5 but 1)it was 140gb 2)it had framerate issues even though the world looked like it was from a ps3 game, character models were great though and 3) it was a little woke since you could date all those historic figures like Ryoma Sakamoto, Soji Okita, Matthew Perry, Shinsaku Takasugi, Genzui Kusaka, Kogoro Katsura and Ernest Satow, as a male character. Weird how making important historical figures gay is fine but a real ****** being the main character in Shadows being used for the story is too much (Yes, we don't really know what happened to him after Nobunaga died but that's the great thing about games and ****, people can make a fictional story about it as long as it isn't depicted as fact)traxtan wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 01:12It doesn't even pass Ghost of Tsushima (a 50 GB game on PS4 disk) in graphical quality yet it's 3x the size, modern game devs really are ********.pillbox wrote: β March 15th, 2025, 22:13RiceARonin is 175 gigs once fully installed. Yeah what I love about fiction is that I get to see Africans in medieval Japan.Finarfin wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 12:08Weird how making important historical figures gay is fine but a real ****** being the main character in Shadows being used for the story is too much (Yes, we don't really know what happened to him after Nobunaga died but that's the great thing about games and ****, people can make a fictional story about it as long as it isn't depicted as fact)
Isn't imagination the most powerful thing? You can put Africans anywhere you like.
Japs get special treatment, they could've released Yasuke Simulator themselves and every nip worshipper would bow down at their feet and say it's the greatest game of all time just because it's made by Japanese studio.Finarfin wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 12:08Yet for some reason japs get the pass most of the time. And you lost me, it doesn't matter that what they made is fictional it is being pushed as fact right now by several mainstream news sources and Wikipedia that Yasuke was a legitimate samurai instead of a zesty little buck.Finarfin wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 12:08Weird how making important historical figures gay is fine but a real ****** being the main character in Shadows being used for the story is too much (Yes, we don't really know what happened to him after Nobunaga died but that's the great thing about games and ****, people can make a fictional story about it as long as it isn't depicted as fact)

I really don't care that mainstream news sources and Wikipedia push Yasuke as a legitimate samurai. Several jap games have him as a samurai and warrior yet no one is crying about it.
Nioh 1 and 2 has him and they literally call him Obsidian Samurai and his entry is

Nioh 1 and 2 has him and they literally call him Obsidian Samurai and his entry is
Hell, for whatever reason these japs are so ****** up they even turned him into a loli."Yasuke was a warrior under Oda Nobunaga. An Africanβborn man of imposing build, he first came to Nobunaga's attention as the servant of a Christian missionary, leaving that position and entering Nobunaga's service at the latter's request. He was treated as a samurai rather than a servant and is said to have sworn fealty to Nobunaga for life. Nobunaga had never seen a black person before, and it was only after seeing Yasuke undress and bathe that Nobunaga finally believed that his skin colour was genuine. Yasuke was favoured not only with status but also with weaponry and equipment, and participated in the pacification of Kai province and other operations. He was by Nobunaga's side at his final stand at Honnoji Temple, and, on his own initiative, bore away his lord's remains after Nobunaga's death. Later he would be persuaded by the newly arrived Kelley to assist in the resurrection of the Overlord.
Yasuke is said to have delighted Nobunaga, who never cared much about tradition or popular opinion. In fact, Nobunaga reportedly planned to grant Yasuke a castle of his own. A full head taller than the Japanese men around him, Yasuke was also said to be ten times as strong. At the fateful battle at Honnoji, Yasuke's incredible strength helped drive back Akechi's forces, but he was unable to prevent his lord's seppuku.
After breaking through the guards around Honnoji, Yasuke concealed Nobunaga's remains and set out for Nijo Castle to join forces with Nobutada, Nobunaga's son and heir. It is unclear what exactly Yasuke did at Nijo Castle, but before long Nobutada, too, had taken his own life, and Yasuke must have been bitterly disappointed with how events had turned out."

Disco Elysium was intentionally written in the twitter-style of bite-size chunks so that people wouldn't get bored or overwhelmed by all the reading. If you don't have the attention span to read twitter, you're not going to make it.Tangerine wrote: β March 14th, 2025, 20:36There's no way a game that dumps reams of text on you is going to capture an audience that has a 15-second attention span.

More importantly, is there any actual substance to it? Or is it just politically charged drivel? If you don't know what you are getting into, for the first 1-2 hours you could be fooled for thinking you are actually playing an RPG. RPG-like exploration, skill checks, choices, factions. But pretty quickly you realize it's all fake and its indeed a pretty linear walking sim/visual novel hybrid.Bing_xiLim wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 14:05More importantly, is there any actual substance to it? To elaborate on that, I'd say that they tried to emulate purely social tabletop RPG with an emphasis on the inner workings of an individual. Narrative is the first and foremost point of attention of the game and all game mechanics work for it. I'd say this game is on par with Detroit: Become Human or other David Cage's games (though they have more gameplay).1998 wrote: β March 16th, 2025, 14:15RPG-like exploration, skill checks, choices, factions. In-game political factions are caricatures and are mostly tangential to the story but they are being shoved in your face so they are quite annoying.
