Episode 30: 頬白鮫の帰還

頬白鮫 rolls a natty 100 to have his frozen corpse removed from his tomb. You know how you have to kind of twist an ice cube tray to get all of the cubes separated? It was kind of like that.

Image

Image

I never said it would be free of side effects though.

Image

We've successfuly secured a diplomatic marriage for the dementia ridden zombie. What a happy couple they'll be :)

Image

Waifu gets a cooking inspiration and will cook twice as fast for 8 days. Tangerine gets a point in Melee. Hoss loses 6 random skill points that he wasn't using anyway.

Image

GhostCow gets a pig lung surgically implanted.

Image

Prissy arrives, beating stick in hand, and doesn't look too thrilled to meet her betrothed who's still thawing in a hospital bed.

Image

Stack takes an honor guard out to meet a hostile leader for peace talks

Image

Elias has made some absolutely legendary leather boots. Maybe next time he can make a legendary gun or something useful.

Image

Our raiders return in the middle of a blizzard with a fuckload of precious components.

Image

Vitya gets some bots back up and running so repairs can get underway.

Image

Oyster gets married, conceding his wizard powers.

Image

Elias uses his necropath powers to absorb the residual energy from some corpses. I think these guys were our friends.

Image

A skiphound blinks inside of our base. It's a pretty cool animal so we just tame it.

Image

The honor guard easily fends off an ambush on the way to the peace talks...

Image

which end up being a complete waste of time anyway.

Image

Getting rid of the animal coffins in the throne room. You guys remember P'nut? Or Bishop?

Image

This kid is a menace

Image

Infestation time

Image

We can handle bugs pretty easily now, but they happened to emerge from beneath all of our septic tanks, destroying most of them in the process. Dozens of ****-covered insects charge through the halls making an awful mess.

Image

At least we have sewage outlets in the river in case of overflow

Image

We've built a frog, which is like a reusable one-man transport pod. It doesn't seem to be movable on the ground so... we'd better remember to remove the roof above it before trying to launch it anywhere.

Image

Tangerine has had some incredibly expensive power arms installed. They should be better at punching through armor.

Image

One of our guests starts beating the **** out of a 13 year old girl in the chapel. To her credit, she fractures one of his bones.

Image

A swamp of devourers takes 頬白鮫 by surprise while he's out hauling some stuff.

Image

In an instant, one leaps at him and vores him in a single gulp.

Image

Stack uses his shadowstep to teleport out and shoot the devourer until it regurgitates him.

Image

...but he can't shadowstep other people, so he nopes the **** out of there. Good luck, 頬白鮫!

Image

They're not so tough when you hide behind walls and shoot them, but they do cost us hundreds upon hundreds of bullets when we're somewhat in the middle of a steel crisis.

Image

Stack hops out again and carries his baby boy home

Image

Coizz looks happy to be knocked up. Considering that she's a horned red imp who breathes fire and GhostCow's like 1.5% pig, it'll be interesting to see how ****** up their baby is.

Image

More bugs outside. We've never been so well prepared to repel an attack.

Image

Speaking of getting knocked up, Herma is pregnant too.

Image

Yet another Christmas

Image

A royal comes to visit

Image

And immediately starts watching our ****** TV in the dirty old bunker

Image

It must be wedding season. All of the couples are now married except for Chuck and Waifu. Wonder if anything is going on there...

Image

Reception is held in the dining room, where Elias undergoes a bestowing ceremony. It also somehow makes him pretty, which really just cancels out his hideous nosferatuesque appearance.

Image

Image

Stack swaps out his peg legs for bionics.

Image

An acolyte from the Empire requests our help. She also has an entourage of 15 people. That's a lot of mouths to feed, but that second reward is immense. A hyper advanced archotech womb? Gotta have it.

Image

Captain greets them at the door. That's a lot of people.

Image

Image

Speaking of tons of people, @Elias is somehow getting another bestowing ceremony. This ticks off his last aspiration (gain a level five psycast, become a sanguophage, become noble, and drink aperitif) which unlocks...

Image

A growth moment for him. He can improve his passion for 3 of these skills and choose one of these traits. I bet you're all feeling silly for not taking 4 aspirations now, huh?

Image

PLUS he's earned a new permit. Will he go for the transport shuttle? Aerodrone strikes? Temporary slaves?

Image

Speaking of growth moments, Diana has become a child (3 years old).

Image

As her father, @Val can decide whether she should be put to work right away or schooled to have higher stats later in life. There's no wrong answer.

Image

@GhostCow is ready to choose an expertise.

Image

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that Elias is a Knight, he can request diplomatic marriages from the Empire itself. Only the choicest babes from here on out.

Image

Image

There are about 51 people hanging out in our base right now

Does Rimworld simulate room temperature? That is a lot of warm bodies crammed into a single room. Is it possible for a crush to happen with everyone trying to squeeze through that one door? Is room oxygen a thing? Smell?

Also, when WhiteShark was digested, the tooltip said "20 seconds" left. So was the acid going to kill him within 20 seconds? That is extremely fast acid. Even if he had only been in it for a few seconds, shouldn't he have severe burn scars? Can those be healed? Or is the game mechanic a binary where the digestion timer would have had to have completed for anything bad to have happened?

Fiiiiiiine this one's basically okay with nothing overtly wrong except for being a coward (woman).

Hahahaha, if nobody beats that, 3 coins to give her the best beauty trait so my aspiration triggers.

Temperature is a thing. Chuck needs to stay inside during winter since he's a nudist or he'll get hypothermia pretty quickly. We use coolers to keep food in the freezer from spoiling, heaters to keep living spaces warm, and vents to equalize temps between rooms which is basically free heat from places like the kitchen or anywhere with heavy machinery. Here's a heat map.

Image

I thought body heat wasn't a feature, but according to this picture from Reddit it totally is. Realistically it's a pretty negligible effect most of the time.

Image

Corpses emit rot stink when they start to go bad. It's dangerous to be around for too long as you'll get lung rot unless you have some sort of mask or bionic lungs or natural resistance. There is a (modded) hygiene need that's taken care of by showering/washing up at sinks.

Image
What are Val's current stats? I am considering spending turtle coins to increase them.
Image

As a bonus, here's a completely unprompted story about being deported in the Reddit thread where I found the body heat image.

I dunno. Enemies typically leave you alone once you're incapacitated unless they're kidnapping you so he wasn't gobbled up a second time. It DID kill two construction bots though, so maybe. Scars are permanent without advanced technology like the healing serum that was used on Vitya. The bullet that got him in the brain left two scars since it was an incendiary round (impact+burn). The serum only healed the impact scar so he's still a little addled and we can see it.

Image

His brain has a lower maximum health due to the scar, which also lowers its efficiency. Brain efficiency is what keeps you conscious (and consciousness affects basically everything else), which is why he was comatose with the other, larger permanent injury.

As funny as it would have been, I'm glad that 頬白鮫 didn't die on his first episode back. Speaking of him, @Oyster Sauce, he's missing from the list of characters with turtle coins.

By the way, is Waifu cooking twice as fast particularly useful, or does it just mean she has more time to goof off?

I've been keeping tabs on this playthrough for quite a while now. I've never played Rimworld before so I had no attachment at first but gradually, it became more and more endearing as time passed by. It has been such a hectic journey up to this point. I feel like now would be a good time to introduce a character of my own.
