Titan Quest 2 Thread

Post by The_Mask »

https://titanquest2.thqnordic.com

I have copy-pasted most of the announcement, so you don't have to give anybody any clicks, if you don't want to. The video embed is Odysee. And, finally, this is bought to you by THQ Nordic.

EDIT: changed to Rumble, because Odysee embed stopped showing up, for me.

The Game

A World of Myth and Monsters
Set out on an adventure worthy of myth that takes you from picturesque beaches, to serene Greek temples, to places where no mortal has ever ventured, including the mysterious realm of the Moirai themselves. Battle classic creatures from Greek myth and the original Titan Quest, including Ichthians, Centaurs, Satyrs, Harpies, Sirens, Gryphons, and many, many more.

A Challenge Fit for a Hero
Heroic deeds require heroic effort. The enemies you face are far from defenseless - dodge and counter their attacks, then overwhelm them with a well-timed flurry of blows. Powerful rituals allow you to freely control the game’s difficulty, while deep character customization systems ensure that there’s always a good reason to replay.

Exploration-Focused Campaign
Pay close attention to your surroundings! The world is full of mysteries and secrets to discover. Legendary monsters lurk in hidden groves, and you never know when you will end up face-to-face with a god. Visit memorable towns full of life and intrigue. The conversations you engage in and the items you find along your journey can lead to surprising discoveries, or they might just hold the key to stopping Nemesis. This is your adventure.

  • In Titan Quest 2, you are in control of you own fate. Customize your hero, then form your own class by combining two masteries. Build your character around the strengths and weakness of both masteries, exploring different combinations of skill modifiers, attributes, and items to create your own hybrid class and find your favorite playstyle. Grow your powers from those of a young mortal to a hero to rival the gods themselves!

Every item serves a function, and every character class has many options when it comes to finding the perfect equipment. Even the most common spear can be upgraded via affix crafting, and with the right ingredients, you may even forge it into a unique item spoken of only in legend!

Enemies form factions and work together, combining their unique skills and abilities to keep you on your toes. Use the deep character build system and access every skill at your disposal to vanquish them in this unique action-RPG experience.

Encounter stunning vistas and deep caverns, and traverse the world with your divine mount, Areion. Use the powers of the gods to uncover secret locations and explore lovingly designed levels full of verticality.

Join up with friends to take on the Goddess of Retribution. Like Jason and the Argonauts, sometimes you need a group of heroes for your journey.

An atmospheric soundtrack blends traditional Greek music with modern orchestral elements to create epic, memorable themes, drawing you into Titan Quest 2's unique world.

A serious gamer on another forum said that no ARPG player wants this and that you should play strategy games if you want intelligent enemy behavior. I'm interested in seeing how this will work in Titan Quest 2.

Around the time the original Titan Quest got the Eternal Embers expansion they also added Epic Games Store's 'Epic Online Services' files to the game regardless of if you were running it off the steam or GOG version.

This addition was reported to send telemetry even if the user did not have Epic's client installed. The solution at the time was to just deleted the folders that contained the 'Epic Online Services' files as the game ran fine without them.

I don't have high hopes that Titan Quest 2 won't have something similar integrated into it. Or rather I'm still quite angry about it being added to the first game via a patch.

I got part way through Titan Quest, but it'd probably be more fun with friends.

Completed the game way back and I would probably just use a mod that makes everything faster so it doesn't feel so slow and sluggish.

I felt the first game aged pretty poorly, so I'm interested in seeing how this one plays. If it comes on GOG I'll probably get it, otherwise it's a pirate.

I read this games steam forums. People are complaining about janky animations and stuff. They expect too much imo. This isnt going to be another PoE, Diablo or even Last Epoch.

If it's as good as the first I'll be content. I replayed it a few years ago and enjoyed it (bought cheap the Anniversary edition and Immortal Throne).

In this update, we want to share a little information about our masteries. In Titan Quest II, just like in the first Titan Quest, you will be combining two masteries to form your own class.

Tried the demo. Runs like ****, is woke, uninspiring gameplay. Requires a lot of work to even mildly compete with poe2 diablo 4 or even last epoch.

You know what was the very first item that droped for me? BARDICHE. In Ancient Greece. BARDICHE. You get it? And the xiphos in this game is called 'sabre'.

Body types - feminine/masculine, character presets have every possible race available from negroids to mongols, start of the game greets you with numerous girl bosses.

Skills are unremarkable. Demo has only 3 masteries - earth, lightning and warfare.

You can try it yourself btw. Requesting access on steam wont give you immediate access but the demo is also available on EGS, just add it to your cart and purchase and you are in. Size is 16 gs or smth.

Titan Quest 2 is being made by THQ Nordic.

They are owned by Embracer.

I wanted to be interested, but I do not find enjoyment in humiliation.

Yes, it's only slightly more out of place than Richard the Lionheart in a Crusader tank.

Ancient Greece: 800 BC
Bardiche: 1300 AD

Richard the Lionheart: 1189
Crusader Tank: 1941

I recon its a clever trick of theirs to launch this little demo a few weeks before early access start. The only purpose it serves is to soften the tidal wave of negative reviews.

They're not dense, they're dishonest. It's like random ******* in medieval fantasy; they know it doesn't fit, but they like it and want to discredit the critique that it breaks verisimilitude by equating it to gameplay/genre/setting concessions.

Never attribute to stupidity what can explained by maliciousness.

I'm inclined to agree, however some life experiences taught me that some people really are just stupid and are completely serious and honest when making such statements.

music and landscape looks pretty good, but action rpgs usually depend on how ridiculous op some of the loot can be and havent seen anything worthwhile there in the demo gameplay.

They posted some feedback from their EA. Obviously, according to them feedback was generally great, but it seems combat was one main criticism. They didn't even post the overall rating for combat, only the "challenge"-rating"

Overall Experience
The vast majority of survey results showed that you really enjoyed your time with the Titan Quest II playtest. ~92% of you described your experience as being in the positive to very positive range. This is huge for us!

According to our survey, over 66% of you have recently played Titan Quest 1 or would consider yourselves Titan Quest experts. If those amongst you like the game, it means we managed to capture the Titan Quest spirit quite well.

Those of you who either never played Titan Quest or only remember it from back in the day really enjoyed the playtest as well.

This shows we're on the right track in keeping the old spirit alive while creating a modernized game. It's a thin line to walk, but it looks like it's working out!

Atmosphere & Presentation
An overwhelming number of you loved the visuals and audio of Titan Quest II. With visuals scoring a whopping 5.25/6 and audio an impressive 5.16/6.

The team is pouring a lot of love into making the world of Titan Quest II as vibrant and beautiful as possible. Many of you appreciate the more positive and bright feel of the world, which sets Titan Quest apart from many other settings in the genre.

Image

Masteries & Combat
Despite some criticisms (more on that later), the core gameplay and mastery system were widely described as fun and engaging. We know the playtest only allowed you to play a small part of the game, so it’s hard to give a final verdict on these systems. We can’t wait for
you to get your hands on more content and Masteries during Early Access.

We were pleased to see that combat played out close to what we imagined – more active and requiring you to work around certain abilities from the more powerful enemies in a pack.

When we asked about difficulty, with 1 being "super easy" and 6 being "super hard," the average score was 3.63. This is a good place to be – challenging but not unfair. We want to strike a balance between engaging combat and an experience relaxing enough to enjoy after a
long day

Image

Exploration and Quests
Many of you highlighted these in particular. The hidden areas, environmental storytelling, and narrative events were mentioned as elements that made the world feel alive and rewarding to explore.

This playtest only contained the smaller, more linear Intro Chapter, so expect much more openness and handcrafted quests, encounters, and events in the future.

Areas for Improvement
Your feedback highlighted some areas where we still have work to do. That's exactly why we chose an Early Access approach!

Combat Feel: Some of you described combat as a bit "sluggish" or "slow." Our goal is to make combat more tactical and meaningful, but it should never feel sluggish. We're looking into improvements for this aspect.
Aiming: Some mentioned difficulty aiming abilities, especially with bows. We've already made improvements to this system, but will keep an eye on it.
Balance: This is an ongoing process. Some abilities might feel too strong, others not impactful enough or too expensive. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue tweaking these values.
Performance: While most felt performance was in a decent state, some experienced issues. We're constantly monitoring and improving this. But some of the improvements to performance might happen when we close in on our 1.0 launch. It’s just much better to optimize when you have all of the pieces in front of you, without new ones getting added and existing ones being moved around constantly.
