Neverwinter Nights 1/2 + Modules

Post by 1998 »

Just finished the prologue. You start at level 10. That's actually a great starting point for a 10-15h adventure.

It got that nonsense respawn feature (you got 60 lives during that campaign). Really not a fan of that. I get what they are trying to do here, but "winning" an encounter after respawning fully buffed is just not satisfying.

what's the point of this

60?

He got it from Swordflight. But yes, it does make no sense if you got no idea how long the final campaign actually will be. I would assume right now the 60 life limit is for the entire Blades of Netheril campaign.

I died to some bs Yeti once, and sure as hell I did not respawn. Feels like cheating.

Yea I'll just play the 100000 free modules that are 10x more high effort.

It has some new music tracks, the one from the prologue sucks though :D

Haven't looked into the NWN modding scene for years. Has there been anything recent besides Swordflight that is worthwhile?

Not really, Tyrants of the Moonsea was pretty weak as well.

Last I remember reading is that redditors were making a spiritual sequel to Dance of Rogues where you play a guy and get ******.

Truly magical.

Tough, glad I didn't know about that one.

NWN is just my comfort game if I want to play something "new". Still plenty of modules worth playing I have never tried, and every single time I get back into it, it just feels like 2002 again.

I just wish browsing them was easier, or that people discussing them would mention stuff that doesn't get repeated every time the topic comes along.

It's funny cause it's true.

There's a Imoen cameo apparently where she's some empowered lesbian nympho as well. I saw people bitching about how it makes no sense in the vault comments and the creator said "AHCTUALLY ADWR could be in Forgotten Realms - Nobody knows what's west of the sword coast !!!!"

It's all so tiresome. :smug:

@rusty_shackleford
I have to clarify too, this discovery is purely accidental, I did not follow the stream, just happend to jump to the right time, so I don't know if there're other turds like this sprinkled throughout.

If it's just this one endgame incident, at best it's a mask off moment, at worst it's a too-late-to-refund scheme. :mad:

@1998
True, I literally couldn't wait. It motivated me enough to make an account here just to post it.
Sorry if this spoiled your enthusiasm about the campaign.

There is also a bit too much talk about young handsome men in there. Dwarves got a stronk and wise warrior queen. Will be great!

Aside from characters referring to you as the Hero of Neverwinter, this adventure is completely disconnected from the events of Neverwinter Nights. The author just used that as a marketing hook for his pet project "Blades of Netheril".

They are at best easter eggs and at worst done to justify asset reuse. I also didn't mention that Imoen shows up for 10 seconds.

Isn't that whole scene just an excuse for the modder to show that he was able to attach a skeleton rider to a dragon model?

Probably. But the entire module feels like he had too much fun with the editor and forgot the actual campaign. Everything feels cut short. Quests too short and simplistic. Maps large, but mostly empty. Loot just randomly lying around. Not really having fun here.

What an ugly collection of smudgy pixels. I only see a guy with smokey eyes and lipstick.

If Luke is the DM I'll keep asking it

Why are you ugly?
- I'm not ugly.
Yes you are. Are you a ******?
- What is that?
You, you look like one.

until I'm kicked out.
