Played the 0.7 version that is available for free in selected stores. It's...undercooked. VERY undercooked. There are lots of things in the game and they all show great potential but none of them is in a satisfactory state as of june 2024. Yes, I'm aware 0.7 is dated, but I don't believe they progressed at breakneck speed since then. The combat feels super floaty and janky, magic is unimpressive and boring, crafting is super limited and uninteresting. This thing needs at least another 6 months in the oven.

Sure it has the potential for greatness, but it also has the potential to be very, VERY, mediocre. I hope they postpone the launch date, may/june is still too early. The build I played feels like 2 years away from a solid game.

EDIT: watching the videos. HOLY CRAP, they are adding even MORE features? Oof. Hope I'm wrong, but this is not a good sign.
EDIT 2: OH, so 0.8 is a totally different game than the one I played? Revamping magic and crafting is a step in the right direction.

honest view from me:

the game itself does have a nice look to it, arthurian fantasy is up there with conan/hyborian age as severely under utilized in setting and lacks a lot of the outright ugly z00mer **** you see today with fantasy based games like purple/pink lighting everywhere and that faggy nuD&D look characters have.

central issue it has is it's more of a skyrim clone than following a game with a better combat system like dark messiah. if you like skyrim, this game if it actually delivers on what devs promise will likely hit that for you. combat isnt as ******, there's a parry mechanic that i'd say is almost mandatory to learn since lethality is pretty high but it has a nice clash feedback when it happens.

i dont really do magic in these games or archery, i find that to be for little ******* so no idea how thats like. the problem right now is the devs might be ******* gay. like that stupid pet they have, that is some dumb funko popper bait trash. just make the pet a dog or cat that looks normal, or better yet dont do one at all. some dialogue is a little on that "why are we speaking like normal people today in a medieval world" side too but i tend to skip most of it since i just want to explore dark dungeons and kill ****.

what i find weird is they have some internal build they have yet to put up for EA and the game is supposed to be launching in a few months. this build apparently has tons of new features but it's hard to test those new features when you dont release it to the public, it comes off as snakeoily. i dont like that.

but it looks approximately 70x less gay than avowed and you can steal **** therefore it is by default superior
