I'll work on a list of things I need help with tomorrow. It's ~99% translated.
I didn't play a new game yet so enjoy whatever issues you encounter!
Known issues:
I know the opening text crawls aren't translated, text crawls are harder to do properly, I'll get to it eventually.
Text not fitting/overflowing. Bug with the translator plugin, I'll fix it tomorrow or so.
other stuff!
As manually reviewing all the lines would be incredibly difficult, I need assistance from those willing to play the game with the current translation. Presumably, it's still the best translation around as it has gone thru a bunch of manual tweaking.
Things I need you to watch out for:
Nouns being translated in multiple different ways in different dialogues. The translation should be consistent.
Inconsistent honorifics. An NPC referred to as "Uncle" in one dialogue, and "Elder" in the next.
Inconsistent naming conventions. Example:
杜府 丑儿=Dù Mansion's (Name redacted)
杜府 怪儿=Dù Residence (Name redacted)
Inconsistencies in general! Lack of diacritics on pinyin, etc.,
Any text that just seems poorly translated
Including(but not limited to) things such as referring to venomous creatures as poisonous
Any untranslated text
Any pronouns used incorrectly. e.g., singular their/they, he or she used to refer to someone of the opposite gender, etc.,
example: "Ah? You'd really give it up?" in reference to a male child, it should be him.
Item & Item description disagreeing with the correct translation. Example:
Name:White Cloud Bear Gall Pill
Description: White Cloud Bear Bile Pill: Bear bile is an effective medicine for internal injuries, but its nature is bitter and cold, and its medicinal power is quite strong. Harmonizing bear bile with warm chuânxiông can refine it into a superior elixir for treating internal injuries.

It might take a bit longer than I originally thought.
I can't just extract the lines and translate them line by line because it makes heavy use of context for translation. When it translates dialogue it takes all the lines from the conversation and includes it as part of the prompt, including the names of the speakers for each line. So I either need to figure out the format they use for their dialogue to parse it(the names, the order, etc.,) Or I need to figure out how to extract all the dialogue when in the game.
I thought I could do the latter but it seems limited to whatever NPCs I have active at this moment. I'm not quite sure how it determines what NPCs are active, I think it keeps all NPCs that should be active in memory(and the NPC data itself is kept separate from any visual representation)
On the one hand the devs have released a bunch of neat, pozz-free RPGs, on the other hand they refuse to release their games in the West (can't really blame them tbh). Still, they're a small studio fighting the good fight.

OK, got all the dialogue translating. I'm doing them file-by-file, so after dialogue I'll move onto equipment, etc.,
Biggest pain will be going back and sorting out all the existing translations into the proper categories.
my best fighter just left my party because he disagreed with my moral choices
He keeps writing me & sending me items every time I check in at the stagecoach. I thought it was a dumb oversight at first but yeah I know a lot of people I like but couldn't go on long adventures with due to personalities clashing.

This is amazing. I'm starting to wish I didn't already have a project in the queue for after I finish Exile III.
If you name your character '东方 未明' you get flagged as a special character. Don't know what it does. Seems to be related to their prior games.
One of those is the surname(first, perhaps?), the other is the name.
reeeeee, the embedding model I was using was really subpar for chinkanese. I'd have to redo a bunch of dialogue with the better embeddings.
I think you guys will really appreciate the translation, at least.

但是官军收复西川后,不但建都司的军营于此,连布政使司衙门都迁过来了。大家都在传皇上要在此地建新城呢。=But after the government troops retook Xîchuân, not only was the military camp of the Dû Sî built here, but even the Bùzhèngshǐsî Yámen was moved over. Everyone is saying that the Emperor wants to build a new city here.
哈哈,您问别人还真不知道。那天吶,有人找上我传话给文爷,想约他们在美馔楼附近的破庙见面,说是有柳叶剑庄掌门人遗物的消息。文爷一听见传话,当下就带着夫人离开了客栈。=Haha, you wouldn't know if you asked someone else. That day, someone came to me with a message for Wén yé, asking to meet him at a dilapidated temple near Měizhuàn Grand Inn, saying there was news of the Willow Leaf Sword Manor Sect Leader's relics. As soon as Wén yé heard the message, he left the inn with his wife.
The dialogue lines aren't really spoilers, but marked it anyways just in case.

"Capital" instead of "Dû Sî" ?
"Government Office" instead of "Bùzhèngshǐsî Yámen"?
"Liuye Sword Manor" instead of "Willow Leaf Sword Manor Sect"?
I apologize if my responses were not relevant to your needs. As an AI language model, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions, and I only provide responses based on the information provided to me.
That's not the translation. It's short for '都指挥使司':
都司 (Dū Sī): This is short for 都指挥使司 (Dū Zhǐhuī Shǐ Sī), which was a specific type of regional military command during the Ming and Qing dynasties (and potentially earlier, in similar forms). It's a title and an institution, not a person's name. Think of it like a "Regional Military Command Headquarters" or "Provincial Military Command."
The problem is I have no idea what they're trying to tell me with this! Cool sounding gibberish is no good.

well now you know yamen means government office
All I had to add to fix the sword manor things was clear out the generated lines referring to it and add this to the config:
Who knows? But seeing how the big pot head was so afraid of him, it must be that this big pot head of the He family caravan was not just a name.
DeepL:
Who knows? But looking at the fact that Cauldron Head is so scornful of him, it must be that this Wojia Horse Gang Cauldron Head is by no means a mere name.
Gemini Flash 2.0 out of the box:
Who knows? But judging by how intimidated the dagoutou (big boss) is by him, this Hejia Mabang (He family caravan) dagoutou must truly live up to his reputation.
Our translation:
Who knows? But seeing how wary the Yè Family Caravan Leader is of him, the Hé Family Caravan Leader must truly deserve his reputation.
I'm cleaning up the translation now, most dialogue has been moved to its own file(broken down into… three separate ones at this point? the old file with all translations, the one before the new embeddings, and the one post new embeddings.) Items, skills, talents, etc., are all getting moved to their own files.
It will make it easy to contribute if anyone wants to.
