Sawyer is not a "subverting expectations" guy, he finds that boring. He just wanted to make, what to him, would be a plausible-feeling world. In his world, where any given kith is from matters more than their race since that tends to be the way things work in this world in terms of culture.

I am actually impressed by how dreadful the companion choices are. None are remotely acceptable. Obsidian sure knows how to make ****** games.

Just like how the freaks are already predicting this game's failure and blaming us normal people who encompass the majority of the population, we too can easily predict that the only ones who will say good things about this game are the same chills who sucked the ***** **** of Veilguard.
The only thing that I believe will be surprising is if this game flops several times harder than Dilatation Age did, since I think the consensus is that it will flop equally hard, not necessarily harder.
There are some Veilguard shills in the KCDII forums trying to convince people that it was actually a success, just not as successful as they hoped. LOL

Well Orin has her hands full with BG3 already, so I think it will boil down to if there's somebody who thinks this game is even worth modding in the first place.

If I'm honest, at this point I doubt that game devs even have to say anything about "lowering expectations" because pretty much everyone, normies included, are well aware of what state a AAA slop like this one will be launched at.
Still remember how everyone was outraged at the poor state of Cyberpunk 2077 back when it was first released, believing that a game with such a huge budget coming out in such a **** state was an anomaly, blissfully unaware that it was a taste of the new AAA standard that was to come.
Perhaps this will finally kill off Obsidian's risen corpse.
Doubtful, unless things go really bad for MicroSoft and they start slashing down their gaming division drastically.
Mind you, this is bound to happen eventually, especially once they stop manufacturing consoles and switch over completely to a software provider, but unlikely in 2025.

Sounds like it's got all the makings of a cult crpg classic then.
No Cipher, nor Chanter, nor Druid transformation(imagine how cool would be to play as a PoE2 wereshark in FPP), they took away all most interesting classes
All interesting Wizard spells are off the game too
Ranger animal companion has no variety and is a single summon on cooldown
It doesn't seem like the game can offer anything interesting gameplay wise that Skyrim couldn't. None of the interesting stuff from Pillars of Eternity got in. They couldn't at least put in Cipher powers to acquire?
The fact that almost no noise is being made about this game - neither from us nor from the shills - is most likely proof that we have finally gotten past the "hate" phase to reach the "apathy" phase, the most important phase since this means no publicity neither good nor bad.
And most importantly of all, apathy is something that hurts the ego of the narcissists far more than hatred towards them does.
Bringing the furry, cat-like and relentlessly horny mage Yatzli along will almost guarantee you won't have to go very long without some innuendos. Sadly she's just a tease. You can't actually romance any of them.
