How viable is it to solo BG? Does all of the XP get funneled to a single character? Do only certain classes work for this approach?

Easy as goblin pie.

Yes, that character gets all the xp. For BG1 a martial character is best. Wizards are better in BG2. If you are human, you can take the character through both games and dual class.

Like with Icewind Dale I'll be running the campaign in multiplayer mode with a friend via LAN. The same problem starting a multiplayer game is present in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition but fortunately the same fix works as well. :dice:
Took a while but once the dice were subdued and a reasonable set of initial Ability Scores could be determined, we have assembled the following party. I'll be playing as an Elf mage and my friend has chosen a Dwarf Cleric.
Rath and Frawd Ability Scores.png
Hopefully pumping up Wisdom instead of Charisma won't come back to bite me... :scratch-pipe:

So far compared with Icewind Dale, I'm finding the plot of Baldur's Gate much more engaging. Image

Durlag's tower was part of the expansion pack, so designed to be way harder. But yes, EE is way easier than OG. They literally removed enemies from encounters they felt were too difficult, added a **** tons of epic stuff to it, it's a different game.

Did they change Kivan? He did not have a timer on his personal quest before that I recall, now I'm scared sick I will lose him as a companion
Edit to add: I managed to keep Kivan, so it seems, but I had to rush to the bandit camp. I will try to see if I can get a mod to restore him as he was if he indeed has been changed if I will re-play EE, as it robbed me of how I first explore the whole map before actually going to do the main quest :?

Could anyone tell me where can I buy a scroll case and gem bag? I found the thing that can hold potions, but it is not potions that are cluttering my inventory, and I can't seem to find anything in Beregost, Nashkel and the Friendly Arm Inn.

You can get a gem bag from Neera's body if you waste her.

Or you could have her join the team and take it from her inventory, I guess.

Because I read rusty likes Neera I made her leave my game peacefully so this is not a viable option for my game.
I myself dislike her because the options of dialogue the pc is given do not seem to be what Neera hears when clicked, among other things. Though I don't outright attack her because of it, I just dread visiting that part of the map.

Are there really no other containers in Baldur's Gate? I keep getting Icewind Dale's mechanics mixed up I fear, I was sure there was at least a scroll holder.

Did you check the Friendly Arms Inn? She goes there if you turn her down the first time.

Is she in the same main area as Dorn? I am not seeing her there if that is so. I turned down to help her outright from the start before the Red Wizards encounter. Was not expecting her to take it so personally when I roleplayed my character to have just wanted more information, she went from panicked to obnoxious and just walked off as if I ruined a joke/scene she had prepared more than her actually needing help.

She should be towards the top corner of the main area, between the bar and the kitchen door.

It's not too late to end her.

Siege of Dragonspear doesn't exist.
I played it, the terrible writing drags the entire thing down, everything else is pretty good but not good enough to overcome the awful writing/story/characters.

Also it adds a major cliffhanger that never gets resolved in BG2EE. Guess they couldn't even be bothered wrapping it up by implementing a small quest, which is lame considering all the other garbage they added.

Not for when I am playing the Adventurer's Guild, I won't do it for rusty

This is what I am seeing (forgot how to take a proper screenshot and I can't hold tab to show the names, but she is not here)
► Show Spoiler
I think she will be here if she has been helped, which I did not, the interaction itself was very strange, she just left, no information, nothing, when questioned about needing details, it was a very strange encounter and the first time I picked that option (number 2 on the very first choice you get when meeting her in Beregost).

Weird. I was as rude as the game allowed and she still kept trying to insert herself into my party.

I wasn't a fan of the map design, since the campaign map kept pushing you forward instead of letting you take your time and explore, while all the area maps funneled you into encounters unlike the open maps of the original.

Also, it has a ***** in a world where sex changing magic exists.

Can't find any videos on her, but this shows the options.

I selected number 2, I am most certain of it, unless I mis-clicked and picked number 3 without knowing, but even then it doesn't warrant an immediate leaving if she is need of urgent aid. She commented on rudeness of strangers and then walked off, it was very strange.

Thank you for letting me know! I played Icewind Dale II much more than Baldur's Gate and keep getting them confused, especially due to their similar aesthetic. Will stop looking then!

By the way @Tangerine I forgot to say as I was focused on the discussion, I wanted to thank you for brainstorming about Neera with me. Thank you for helping me with that

Does anyone know how to get to the Wyvern Coran is looking for? His personal quest always was a real hassle for me to complete as I get to the Shadow Druids area and then lose my way. The one time I did complete it I recall thinking how stupid I was as the solution (location) was truly easy to find, but I find myself in this same situation yet again where I am traveling the whole Cloakwood until Coran finally gets fed up and leaves.

In the fourth Cloakwood map, there's a wyvern cave on the east side.

Just made it to the mining town and chapter 2 started unexpectedly. I'm hoping that chapter 1's quests didn't just lock behind us...

Still questing around to fill up the last slot in the party. I'm kind of hoping for another good aligned fighter or paladin... :knight: :knight-cross:

This has been pretty great so far. Is Planescape: Torment this good as well? Image

I decided to play this as a fresh install no mods (also new pc). Unfortunately this means I CANT FIND A ******* WEB SCROLL!

I guess I'll go blow up the gnolls till they drop me a scroll
