It's got turn-based combat like what you see in Dragon Quest and a scaled-down overworld like in older Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest titles.
Them's the more JRPG elements I remember seeing.

Intriguing setting but yeah, what actual dialogue we've seen so far has not been inspiring... Not a fan of an overworld in 2025 either, but that's less egregious than quirky, vacuous dialogue... that I hope I'm wrong about.
