I'll go so far to say that the iron crisis plot in BG1 is one of the best plots in video games across any genre

I could just watch a TV series or a movie if I wanted plot. I'm not really invested in the plot when it's delivered like that.rusty_shackleford wrote: β January 28th, 2025, 05:13I'll go so far to say that the iron crisis plot in BG1 is one of the best plots in video games across any genre

The same people who like FF7 saying tyhat BG1/2 has bad gameplay... BG1/2 has a much better combat than line A vs line B, and very long flashy spells, your summons are summons, not attack, your character can be whatever you want, from a lawful good paladin to a chaotic evil necromancer, dialogs instead of two lines by two lines and zero player input, offers some times dozens of options, you can lay traps, steal stuff, pickpocket, use magic like charm out of combat(...) But sure, sure, not good gameplay /s

IE combat is far better than FF7 combat, with sword coast stratagems it's not even close.

I'm sorry to break the matrix, but FF VII is one of the games that has had the biggest impact on me, and BG1/2 is MY favorite game of all time.WaterMage wrote: β January 28th, 2025, 06:40The same people who like FF7 saying tyhat BG1/2 has bad gameplay... I still think that BG Trilogy has never been equalled as a CRPG since.
I replay the trilogy every 4 years with a compilation of maniac mods, I was even French dueling champion on BG2.
In short, I don't see why one should be exclusive to the other...
Even for console peasants. From Software 90s RPGs > Square Enix 90s RPGs.
Try Xenogears. And Chrono Trigger.FloSharChosen wrote: β January 28th, 2025, 21:47I'm sorry to break the matrix, but FF VII is one of the games that has had the biggest impact on me, and BG1/2 is MY favorite game of all time.WaterMage wrote: β January 28th, 2025, 06:40The same people who like FF7 saying tyhat BG1/2 has bad gameplay... A sci fi game.
Will it force players to play as a androgynous teenager with a oversized sword too? And let me guess, it is more effective than railguns, coilguns and everything else despite making no sense?

They're both dated, the difference is I played the OG FF7 when I was a child. Thought that was obvious.WaterMage wrote: β January 28th, 2025, 06:40The same people who like FF7 saying tyhat BG1/2 has bad gameplay...
Because of nostalgia, it's easier for me to endure the bad aspects of the OG FF7, than endure playing BG1/2 now, but I wouldn't play it again anyway, we're talking about an entirely different game.

When I was a child, I was unable to understand English. So, I only played games like BG1/2, FL1/2, IWD, NWN as a late teen/early adult. I have ZERO nostalgia towards this games and love them. Hell, I also only played Wizardry 6 recently. Really loved the game despite a huge flaw(the game is impossible to play without a guide). Is not nostalgia.
Is because RPGs declined a lot. Way more than any other genre.
BG1/2 isn't something kids would enjoy, so go figure.WaterMage wrote: β January 29th, 2025, 04:16When I was a child, I was unable to understand English. Having been a kid when playing it isn't a requirement to have the same nostalgic view of something. Some people played Skyrim as a teen and it was their first open world gaming experience.
I played FF7 as a kid but wasn't able to complete it until I returned to it, and obviously, it's a very grindy game, the turn-based & randomised combat has all the same issues as pokemon, that being said, if I had to choose between that or attempting to play BG1 again, I'd choose the former.
I played Neverwinter but it was too preachy & libtarded for me to bother completing, on top of being a variably uncomfortable gaming experience in terms of difficulty being either too easy or weirdly frustrating with no in-between.
Holy... this Wizardry 6 is such boring eye cancer, even the pixel art is bad- you can enjoy this but a big sword puts you off? You're either a contrarian or just built different.

Wonderful diversity.

Yep. Is a masterpiece. You in GoG forum can see a LOT of people trying to get into it and loving. Is not only nostalgia. I never played W6 as a child and if tried, wouldn't be able to do anything.

I just wonder if you even need a video game, if that's what you enjoy, you could just take up a new hobby like watching paint dry or removing your own toenails.

Wizardry VI is a classic, though. FF7 looked so bad it actually put me off of video games for a while.
I never expected his would be the fighting ground where ArcaneLurker would go down with the zoomers. Sad.

I didn't like the differences to the story, with the whispers and multiverse ****, the ending of Remake was very Kingdom Heartsy, and the last few bosses weren't enjoyable, but the DLC was. I'd love to know which guys were responsible for what elements.
It's annoying that Rebirth is almost the same game as Remake, on the same engine, with similar visuals, yet they've made RTX a requirement (likely as an agreement with tech companies).
The GTX series isn't supposed to be able to play it, but it can, if you trick the system with a DLL.
They put so much focus on processing and shaders, when it just makes the game blurry or uncanny, and then underneath all of that, they still have to use very low res textures for large segments of the environment. Extremely irrational, alongside with the focus on "representation," with ******* and LGBT everywhere in the background. I wish game devs would focus on gameplay, I don't care if the game looks like a PS2 game (if it's like FF12 level visuals).

Hi all, i just registered desperately because i'm playing FF VII rebirth, which i consider one of the best jrpg's of the last years, and they've filled it with woke npcs, black ones, other ugly ones, etc and they ruin the game's atmosphere. i came to ask if someone could create a mod for the antiwoke npcs for this game, if i had the necessary knowledge i would do it myself. it's bothering me quite a bit while i'm playing all this. greetings, i'm very happy to see a website/forum dedicated to cleaning up woke garbage games.
