Looks like they customized the **** out of UE5.
tbh they probably could have saved a lot of time just by using the ELEX engine, THQ Nordic owns both studios(well, before PB shuttered anyways…)

I hope that main character's VO is a work in progress, because he sounds like a *** with a smooth pebble inserted anally.
Also, what the **** is with the topknot. Gay AF as well.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

I thought the VA from Gothic 3 was actually pretty decent for most if not all characters.

I've seen another video which had the protagonist look more similar to the original game.

it would be difficult to learn how to use it, given the language barrier.

You play as this guy https://gothic.fandom.com/pl/wiki/Nyras

Interesting concept for a demo, to play as a different POV.

So you play as a guy that goes mental and gets killed by the real hero... odd choice.
You'd think they could have picked Gorn or someone consequential.

Wanted to ask, as I will probably be able to get back to playing tomorrow or the day after if everything goes well, how are the other Gothic games? Are there any of them that I should be aware of that might not hold up well, or are they all good in their own way?

Gothic 2 is the best one, Archolos a fan-made game using the same engine that I thought was better than either 1 or 2. 3 is decent enough with mods.

Now that I finished Gothic 2 Nostalgia Edition I wanted to write my thoughts:

Overall I thought it was a great mod, that really adds a lot to the game though there a load of features I didn't try out because I've only gone through it as a magician, but the mage game is certainly improved. There are a lot more spells to choose from, some of them seem to be aesthetic choices while others are straight-up improvements. NE fixes the bonus stat accumulation issue so you don't have to horde all of your apples, dark mushrooms, tablets, etc until after you've spent your LPs anymore. There's new skills to learn like shields or dual wielding as well as making your own bows. There's a lot more gear to choose from a new armor for just about every chapter as well as more armor to find around the countryside, some of these are aesthetic, some of them are useful.

NE also has companions who will level up with you, follow you around, and get themselves killed if you aren't careful. They're a big help at first, but they'll get in the way if you intend to exploit difficult enemies (I.E. climb up on rocks and shoot wargs with your bow and that kind of ****). As they level though they will become a lot tougher so it's sort of a power bell curve. There's two companions right outside Xardas's Tower and you'll find more along the way, I have no idea if I found them all. Companions are of limited use to a mage who can summon because summons will attack companions and vice versa.

I'm pretty sure NE adds additional things like cooking, new crafting, etc. I did some poking around and apparently you can even play the game guildless (documentation is lacking). In which case some special loot opens up, but I don't know all of the details. NE also features a myriad of bugfixes, QoL, etc etc and works with most of the usual Union and Ninja fixes and also comes with several of them packed in (and a lot of them can be turned on or off in the menus). NE also doesn't force you to wait to get the fast travel runes, some are lying about, others can be bought if you can afford them. There's also a few fast travel items lying around to help you get around faster.

So onto the bad parts, first off a lot of it is haphazardly translated from German so you'll see awkward sentences, even in places that were originally translated fine. Some options or skills are poorly translated I.E. shield parade is meant to be shield parry. If you want to learn to made bows you ask Bosper to teach you archery which is very vague. Some spells aren't clear as to what they do and some lines are just straight up in German. There's also the matter of the Wasteland Mod which is incorporated into NE. It might as well be called the Waste of Time mod. All it does is open up the Gothic 1 landmass all the way in the Valley of Mines and does nothing with it. So you can go behind the orc wall and kill even more stuff. I found the pyrokinesis spell back there, but never used it and one companion (whom I barely used). You can go to the Temple of the Sleeper and reforge URIZIEL if you really care, but it's all lazy and feels like it was made by someone who got upset that PB closed off the area to save space. If someone could go through and remove this part of the mod it would be that much better.

Otherwise, this is a great mod and I would definitely use it again.

Wanted to ask, I wish to make a purchase of Gothic 2 and 3 (which, though, I will hold off playing until an Adventurer's Guild poll happens), but I have found two different versions of Gothic 3 available on GoG, one being simply called Gothic 3 , and the other being Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition . I recall, a few posts above actually, that rusty said Gothic 3 is decent enough with mods, does that mean that it is not a good game on its own? Should I hold off on buying this one, or should I get it anyway when I will be able to?

Gothic 3 is an extremely flawed game that the community has tried to fix up over the years to various degrees of success, but it's always going to be flawed. Forsaken Gods is an outsourced expansion that's a pile of crap no matter what and can be skipped.

Double post, but wanted to ask if Gothic has some sort of save import feature. My pc seems fine for the moment, even if it said it has some hardware issue, but I would like to know if I should pre-emptively save my save files somewhere safe just in case or if I won't need them to continue the story in Gothic 2.

1. Remake an original IP as close as humanly possible to the original intent using modern tools and release it.
2. Create a new project branching off from that (within the scope of the original design concept) and expand in that theme respectfully to the originals world/story/intent.
3. Rinse and repeat (2) for as long as fans are interested.
4. Profit.

I have high hopes for the remake. The people in that video seemed to know stuff about gothic and didn't just talk PR. (I mean Pollice and Rosenkranz obviously but the others, even the women seem to know a thing or two)

The Nameless Hero now has an optional gay romance with Diego. Additionally, you will encounter a new character named Asum of Ilam, hailing from beyond the deserts, whose magics (and culture) far surpass those of the Circles of Fire and Water.

Nah, that's their new Gamescom (iirc) demo from fall 2024.
Not the much earlier playable teaser from 2021 (?)
They say they learned a lot from the fan reactions to both. And given the differences between the two, I tend to believe them.

The first one played more like a Dark Souls set piece in battles.
That's off how Gothic is in combat.
Scavengers, orcs, and such aren't meant to be epic fights (if you are skilled).

One of the few times I can think of where a developer gets overwhelmingly negative feedback and takes it to heart.
