Well, so do I - however, he hasn't done himself any favors by a) not adressing that community conduct update, and b) not clarified a lot of the issues people have had.

I do think/hope it will be not only a good but a great game, but things like retroactively making Henry bi (even if it is buried under a few dialogue options) and introducing a negro from a country way too far from Europe does kind of leave a sour taste in the mouth. I mean, have you checked a map of Africa? It's landlocked and surrounded by other tribal nations most likely out for a traveller's blood. Had this negro been from say North Africa, Turkey or Spain, then it would make a lot more sense.

And finally, the negro is apparently a muslim. The game takes place shortly after the crusades which were an answer to the muslim invasions of Europe (in fact, there were still muslim incursions in southern europe at this time) and any muslim in a zealous world as the uber-christian Bohemia would be seen as a spy and even worse, a heretic. Now add to that that anyone seeing a black person would likely think its a demon from hell and you understand why he doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I would be shocked if it didn’t pick up in the sales charts.Its always hard to gauge how controversies like these affects sales in the long run. More often then not it has minimal impact unless it complete shitshow of a prolonged marketing campaign like Dragon Age Veilguard.

My guess is it will still sell well, but this will also cost it a good deal of sales. Evidence is the lagging sales in USA/CA, and Vavra going full cope mode on xwitter over accusations of loss of preorders.
KCD already didn't sell all that well, and I'm referring to full-price copies, not the ones given away for $2 or free. This has been in development since 2019, with 250 developers currently.

This might end up being another embracer flop just because the development cost was so high — KCD cost $36.5 million to make, smaller scope, smaller team, and shockingly less time overall if you only include actual full development rather than a few guys working on a prototype. Yes, it took them more time to make KCD2 than KCD, again, if we exclude the prototype stage where they weren't funded.
I'm not saying it won't recoup development cost, but it's entirely possible it won't make much in profit. But who knows, it might be a major hit.

We have a floor of $36.5 million, which was KCD. They went from 130 developers to 250, have more overhead, and took longer to make it.

My guess is somewhere around $70 million once marketing is included.
