Odyssey is about as much of an RPG as Witcher 3, as it's very close to Witcher 3 in most ways.
Some think Witcher 3 isn't much of one at all… I'm not sure I'd go that far, but it definitely is close to "action game with RPG elements".

Yup. I've just been very busy as of late.

Regarding non-Woke game suggestions, I'm starting to make my way through the backlog of games that have been suggested in the non-Woke thread.
While many are indeed non-Woke according to the Group's methodology, some of them are not.

As a result, it is taking me quite a lot longer to research the games suggested in that thread compared to Woke game suggestions.
I have to do more work to check non-Woke game suggestions since I often have nothing to go on aside from "this isn't Woke" (according to whoever posted the suggestion), and, as I already indicated, that isn't always true.

I'll get to them all eventually, it's just going to take some time.

Gothic Remake
I would like to point to the G1 Remake in which one of the developers has confimed that there are women in the game, while that was true in the original to some extent, there were four of them all of them sexslaves, we have seen them in different contexts in the playable demo "nyras demo" and mentioned in the context below.

The dev team seems to avoid answering this question, which is also true on the Discord where they simply ignore all of the debates surrounding this topic or stop it because it's supposed to be "heated"


From my perspective we should at least already add it as informational until we know further details to inform buyers before buying. I will keep you informed about changes here, if it becomes clear that I erred in my assessment.

As I wrote in the Group's Mission Statement, I'd always hoped this would become a group project, rather than me researching everything myself.

While I won't divulge my exact process for researching games, I try to familiarize myself with the game's setting, story, characters, and gameplay as much as I can. In some cases, that means either watching an entire playthrough or playing the game completely myself. However, most of the time, it doesn't take that much to find what I'm looking for.

That being said, I don't expect any potential helpers to do that much. At this point, looking into the non-Woke games would probably help me the most.
As I said, I've starting working on them, but it is taking longer than I would like and I've run into some that have eaten all my time up.

Off the top of my head, if anyone here has played the rebooted Lara Croft games, let me know what you think of them. They were suggested as non-Woke but I'd heard previously they have feminist themes in them.

@Furin If there are any games I may help with too, do let me know, I always seem to find obscure pieces of lore or snippets that were altered to be woke or things like that in any game I play and, though I am too dense for the more "subtle" (subtle like a wall of bricks, but enough for me to have no idea) stuff, hunting down little trivia and differences is my forte with the few games that I played and was disappointed by. Two examples at the top of my head would be Star Rail and Genshin Impact, whose English translations were purposefully made to include woke elements compared to the original. Another would be the Soul Reaver remake, though this one is from second-hand experience by watching a friend play.
One recent example that I am unsure what to make of is that in Silent Hill 2 remake there is a poster in Brookheaven Hospital that says that eating red meat is bad for your health, which goes against all that doctors told me since forever, but that is on-par with what I heard TV saying in recent years out of the blue, same as with red wine (which also is something that has been "prescribed" to some people I know to help with blood problems, in moderation).

The SH2 remake was involved with one of the consulting groups that consult on wokefying games. Character designs are the worst affected, females are uglyfied to avoid the male gaze from this specific lists perspective it is definitely necessary to put it into the not recommended section. The game is otherwise pretty decent but I'm not willing to give an inch at this point.

Do you have any details on the SR remake though? I have already downloaded it and they seemingly listened to customer feedback when it came to an uglyfied statue, that is all I currently know about that.

From my experience with the Freddy games, there's nothing that jumps out as woke. The main villain isn't evil because he's a white man, nor is there anything gender-related. There are no non-whites or ****.
That said, I'm unfamiliar with anything past the first 5 games, like 3D games with the 80s themed mascots.

While I understand the "uglification" sentiment, beauty is subjective and therefore not something I take into account for the purposes of this group's list. You don't need me to tell you whether something is ugly or not, you can determine that yourself.

The only exception is if the body is altered to look more "androgynous" (like they originally did with the Water Glyph statue in the Soul Reaver remaster).

The new Lara Croft games are not what I would deem woke, just poorly written.

They want to portray Lara in a style the games and gameplay is just not suited to.
She's uncertain and emotional and borderline incompetent, while also a killing machine like John Rambo.
It works better where she's a confident badass that uses her brains and agility and surprise to win, like in the previous games.
There's no feminism that I can see, and the enemies are not the usual male stereotypes. The bad guys are bad guys, sometimes flawed or short-sighted, but not comically inept.

They're poorly written games with a flawed, and poorly narratively designed heroine (among a host of other issues), but there is no woke in them that I saw.

Will have to read through these links, but just from my own experience: I have watched Markiplier play through every single game (also watched him and another guy, who I believe holds the record for it, beating the ultimate of the ultimate mode I forget the name of at the moment that is made to represent hell). I am confident he and MattPatt went through everything by themselves already, but from my understanding whatever woke there might be could be in the novels, which I remember being centered around a girl but I disregard anything not in-game as unimportant no matter how much they try to push it, so I don't know much about those.
From my own experience just by watching the playthroughs, I have not seen anything woke, but I did notice emphasis on women in the later games, also Mangle being cited (by the rabid fanbase though that I recall) as being "*****" because it is an amalgamation of things and some ******** with gender that I have never heard of in-game (strikes me as in the same vein as with Pyro from Team Fortress 2).
To add to the Mangle thing, this thing from Dead by Daylight
"sparked controversy" because "*****" idiots saw themselves for the flesh abominations they are in it and got offended

Controversy
Some members of the community believed that The Unknown resembled a transphobic caricature, particularly due to the cosmetics resembling a highschool cheerleader.
However, this was not the intention behind this, as The Unknown is meant to poorly resemble and mimic the victims it takes.
The Voice Actress behind The Unknown was, however, the target of transphobic harrassment by hateful members of the community due to her involvement in the character.
She later clarified in a Twitter/X post that Behaviour were not transphobic, and her only issue was the lack of communication surrounding the character's final appearance, and not the skins themselves.
A spokesperson for Behaviour Interactive told PinkNews that “We will continue to express support to our voice actress, to all of our community members as well as standing actively against hate in our game”.
Zoey Alexandria also said in the previously mentioned post that Behaviour have been "nothing but kind and supporting" through the process.

For Mangle:

From my memory of the games Mangle was always meant to be a monster and, as quoted, every issue with gender was replied to with "who cares, is a rabbit" or "yes" (in the case of Mangle), which, like the monster above, lacks any sort of sex and is just a "thing", with everyone referring to it as they want because it is just a mass of things. It's like making a monster that is a ball of bodies, men and women, and, to make it more disturbing, they make it speak with an echo of every single of of its victims' voices but, to add to the creepiness, they make the female voices a bit more hearable, with the male voices being left as an eerie background. Focusing on if that thing should be a male or a female is disregarding the nature of it: it is a horrific amalgamation meant to be monstruous.
As for Mangle being sent for "ladies' night", I am reminded of drag performers and, while I find it hilarious, Freddy's pizzeria was a place meant for children, though I cannot recall Mangle ever being a real animatronic beyond just a broken mess of parts that came alive into one single being, this to say, I doubt it ever performed for anyone as the being it is now, even if its parts did and were different being at different points in time.

I was gonna mention the same ***** monster that the ****** got offended by, but @DagothGeas5 beat me to it. I'm not sure how Mangle would count as a "they" other than the most literal amalgamation of several individuals.

Character designs are the worst affected, females are uglyfied to avoid the male gaze from this specific lists perspective it is definitely necessary to put it into the not recommended section.

While I understand the "uglification" sentiment, beauty is subjective and therefore not something I take into account for the purposes of this group's list. You don't need me to tell you whether something is ugly or not, you can determine that yourself.

The only exception is if the body is altered to look more "androgynous" (like they originally did with the Water Glyph statue in the Soul Reaver remaster).

The devs deliberately made the outfit Maria wears less sexual and included the original version to poke fun at it.

I ******* hate modern devs. They 100% included this as an easter egg to get back at the original game for being sexist and ****.
