Too easily manipulated by people who merely dislike a game without ever playing it giving it low scores.
Also, if nobody knew that votes were discarded that were merely anti-votes, BG3 would have swept house. Yes, they toss out votes they don't like, Felipepepe admitted to this when Disco Elysium won after all the 1/5 votes for it were tossed out. So you just vote for multiple games instead of giving one game a 1/5 to deny it winning.

How do you even pick how to rank games using such a convoluted process? There's a hundred different ways to rank them to get the outcome you want.
BG3 technically has more people rating it 5/5 than any of the other games on that screenshot, by a statistically significant margin. If you look at the 1/5 % and compare it to CP2077 Phantom Liberty, it happens to be the exact same %, coincidence or people just giving 1/5s to games they don't want to win despite not playing it?

I'm not a fan of voting systems that encourage negative voting.

Surprisingly, out of the big name games, Roguey Trader ended up being the least 'woke'. They really dialed it back from wotr.

I think it was probably one part Underrail winning over AoD which ****** off many, and then their claim of uncovering hidden gems with their voting. So they had to make sure they can move the ranking as needed.

There's value in being able to find hidden gems, but the actual GOTY award should be as straightforward and transparent as possible. Set some cutoff for what you consider a 'member' to be and let them vote in a straightforward fashion.

Don't think they ever "found" any. Its just too much of a niche and the player base is too small. If there is something really worth playing, it doesn't need an annual vote to uncover.

Still, voting for 3 titles with equal weight is obviously good.

If we exclude the first place game(c'mon, everyone knew this), we have an interesting three-way tie right now.

Roguey Trader, Caves of Lore, and JA3?

Rogue trader, while I really liked their general take of the setting does not deserve any mention in the realm of GOTY.

It's not even the bugs, I can live with those, but many of the game design decisions regarding combat. It simply is very mediocre which is a shame coming from Build Porn WOTR.

Sorry but no. While I had to defend my Opinion that JA3 is woke, because it is, it is far, far removed from what BG3 does.

Yes both are woke, but BG3 is on another level. That normally based people think BG3 is okayish in this regard and I guess that is because the game in itself is competently made, is the biggest cope of the century.

I've played through it until reaching roughly the half-way point and I really like learn by use systems what bothered me is endless skill scaling. At some point it felt like Cookie clicker, which was a shame. Things should come to an end, upgrades to player strength should exist and so should mixing up skills in a playthrough, which just was not necessary until that point in CoL

Well I disagree on the statement. JA3 shows it's wokeness through 2 things: Character design (especially in the specialisation) and *some* story beats from main to side content.

Well I think Arcanums take is a Joke, while BG3 is not.

That is what I meant regarding the character designs: Girlbosses, women leaders and all mechanics being female. EDIT: What however is also different is that the men are not all ****.
