What country produces the most raspberries in Europe?
Russia!
We also have a book The Gulag Archipelago, it's about criminals mining ****.
And the commies used to wear red clothing like just about everyone ingame.
And they used to use foreign-sounding nicknames like Frida, Levi, Gomez...
And they used to fight orc savages from the Wild Fields.

Horosho, komrady, I'm almost tempted to pick up the game again.

By this definition, Turkey is also European.

You know, it's funny how not a single dev was able to make a gothic clone.

Explored the first camp, talked to everyone there. Me and my trusty swoooooooooooord killed most of the mobs near that camp that don't outright one-shot me... And I don't feel like playing any more.
Does it get better? Is magic way more fun or something? Am I missing a crucial mechanic that will keep me hooked? Does the writing really pick up after the 10h mark or something?
Just not feeling it.

There's Drova but it wasn't welcome here since it was made by self-hating shitlib krautoids.

This is one of the worst games I've ever played. Castlevania 64 is better

Explore more of the world of Gothic. Climbed a mountain and was struck by lightning. Spoke with a man who told me that "Abandoned Orc dwellings often contain Orcs..." (Which doesn't sound very abandoned to me.) then I made it to a town. Spent some time walking around but night had fallen so there wasn't much to do but wait for morning when everyone would come out of their houses.
► Don't let the guard's intimidate you, get right in there face! "Hello, I'm new here..."
While waiting I interacted with a bench and as my character sat down I got an application error message that crashed the program... Now when I try to start Gothic it just displays this splash on the desktop and then everything locks up until I restart the computer.
Gothic - Just logo and frozen.png
I'm going to look for a solution, but I fear my Gothic campaign has met with its end for now. :scratch-pipe:
(May try copying my save files and then reinstalling Gothic...)

Also, the default controls have a bit of a dangerous combination to watch out for:
CTRL = Action
ALT = JUMP
DELETE = Side Step Left

Why set it up like that? Image

I don't like most of the changes.
Not a fan of 'modesty' mods that make no sense, it's a prison, harpies should be unclothed, so on and so forth.

This is ********. Why is a harpy wearing clothes, why is Snaf wearing generic digger clothes. He is wearing an apron. Why is the Picture of Gomez with two slaves a problem? He is literally the leader and a criminal. Why are the novices wearing digger clothes (again) they are in a humid swamp. Thanks for linking it though, I blocked the user because the modesty mods he makes are ********. He literally made one for dishonored 1 where he replaced all paintings with the same painting and made the body of an npc invisible/black resulting in a floating head.

If you want to head in the other direction... I've read that in the US version of Gothic there is censorship not found in the original release.

To remove it find the file "textures_bikini.VDF" and move or delete it.

You can access magic vastly later, really and it's not great in G1 imho. If you have trouble with weapons being janky, go to scatty in the Old camp an learn one-handed weapon. I beeline this skill ASAP and it's.... ug 30 LP in total, not a huge investement. Then skill strength.

EDIT: also to get a foot in the door regarding XP, speak with the sect camp follower in the Old camp he will kill quite a few mobs for you and show you around, the same is true for Mordrag for the new Camp (for this, you have to start the quest to join the OC though and speak with thorus)

The barrier has serious abandonment issues.

They were abandoned, but since nobody can leave they've become unabandoned lest the orcs also suffer the barrier's abandonment issues.

If you play the original version 1.0 you would see that you move with the arrow keys not the WASD keys. Then ctrl and alt are spaced reasonably for the games control. Strafing is pretty **** in G1 and 2 I am not sure if it was also moved by the patch, like movement but it is pointless anyways.

Hopefully it'll stay stable, but I'm going to treat this game like it was made of glass.

Yes, but the game was release to run on Windows 98/ME/XP/2000 so if you pressed CTRL + ALT + DELETE at the same time you'd restart your computer.

I have been using the default control setup with the arrow keys so far without using the mouse. CTRL+UP as action is taking some getting used to but isn't that terrible.

There is no logical reason why you would be pressing these three buttons at the same time, not only would it be extremely irksome to use if you wanted all three things to happen at the same time but also all three actions are fully incompatible with each other.

Lastly I do not know if that is part of the original keybinding, it could be that the modders for the patch changed it, we simply don't know and I am not even able to install it from CD anymore to check :?

Do merchants restock their items? I need more ore to trade for armor but I've already bought all of it that I could find in the camp.

In between chapters they do.

The Merchant down in the old mine has the single most Ore in the game I believe.

Secondly you can, in most cases, just knock down a character you spend ore on to get the money back. I am not sure if the dynamic was somewhat changed due to the mods, however I managed to knock out lee to get his weapon and money back as long as the other Mercs did not see me doing it even with the mods.

EDIT: you can also generate Ore by selling swamp weed for the novice in the NC if you have not done that. Every Bandit/Merc without a name will pay you 10 Ore per day, per joint.
