I'm ******* glad Piranha Bytes shut down. This is one of the worst control schemes for a game I've ever had the displeasure of enduring. Even the botched ******* PC port of that redditcore Sunset Overdrive game was less clunky and it had ******* ****** 8-directional analogue stick camera control when you moved the mouse.
The games controls are ******* great, as soon as you switch a and d to turn instead of strafe instead. The player can control every movement very precise and the animations are extremely clear. I really do not understand what the actual issue is.

Use your Mouse and Keyboard, I can imagine aiming being a bit troublesome without the mouse.
I hate that it won't rebind properly. When I bind Interact (pick up/talk/attack/etc.) to F, the ******* F key still goes into first person, even though the "Look around in first person" is set to a completely different button.
Same **** happens if I try to rebind Interact to Spacebar. The MC switches into the attack stance even when I rebind that to a different button.
It's ******* infuriating.

I am not entirely sure what control scheme you are setting up there and it is interesting that these bugs exists (and yes, not being able to rebind keys is pretty ****, no excuse for that) however you are making the game pretty uncomfortable for yourself, play it as it is intended (ergo just switch the turning to A and D) and it will click.

I mean you can try to experiment further and you will end up complaining again or you could actually try it how it works.

Left Ctrl being the primary button to do every single thing is a ****** decision on the devs' part. Absolutely horrible ergonomics.

You can Interact with the world with a left click. Speaking, attacking and all. You click and hold the button on an object to aim at it and press W (so forward) to interact with the object.

you do not need to press left-ctrl at all.

What you are encountering is however also something that is not in the Original version of Gothic, ergo w/o the patches, the game was developed at a time in which WASD controls were not yet standardized, the original would be controlled by the arrow keys for movement. If you change WASD to up,left, down, right you issue would also be resolved if you want to play with the keyboard alone.

Just understand that there is a reason for the switch by the mod, mouse and keyboard is more comfortable.

EDIT: Space is drawing your weapon, right click is Jumping. Try it, it works well.

Just spend an hour or so getting used to the controls and they'll feel natural.

Yeah me too.

I understand where he is coming from, Gothics controls are unique, they just did their own thing. But the moment tells me they are "****" I am pretty sure they have not understood them yet.

It's a matter of getting used to, not a design flaw.

People can get used to being beaten with sticks every time they wake up, that doesn't mean being beaten with sticks every time you wake up is a good thing.

While I myself love how unique the controls are, I concur with logincrash. I can get used to anything, but some people dislike having to re-learn or rewire themselves on how they play to play a game, even if the game will be great afterwards. I see it as part of the experience, but if there are bugs that prevent making it "your game", that is not a good combination :?

Sorry for double post, I found some ore veins and they seem to be infinite in their capacity if mined (meaning infinite ore nuggets). Is that true? Or do they dry up after a while?

The idea that there's ore veins just sitting above ground is kinda silly anyways, would prefer a mod that removes them

But is it normal ore? Don't want to be spoiled anything, but I found a camp that wants to use it to blow up the barrier, if it has some magick in it could it be something more than usual ore?

I installed the German version to be more immersed in the world of Gothic and the fan-made English translation on top of it, but the intro didn't have any subtitles at all. So this is news to me as well.

The intended language is polish.

Poland is basically a giant prison colony, it's obviously meant to be poland.

Doesn't matter what the english or polack version translate these to. They are Waldbeeren in the original because each region calls their regional berries forrestberries

What would Waldbeeren (forest berry) taste like? (I mean as a concept, a literal forest berry, with no other berry besides that being the forest berry.)
I am guessing a mixture of some sweet like raspberry but with the punch blackberries and un-ripe blueberries give.

Well, Waldbeeren is an umbrella term regionally to blueberries and, in general, to all berry and berry-like fruits found in the forest.
like:
Blackberries
Rose hips (Rosa)
Raspberries (Rubus idaeus)
Elderberries (Sambucus)
Lingonberries (Vaccinium vitis-idaea)
Sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides)
Sloe (Prunus spinosa)
Rowan berries (Sorbus aucuparia edulis)
Juniper berries (Juniperus)
Wild strawberries (Fragaria vesca)
Hawthorn berries (Crataegus)
