I am always interested in what people today who have never played EQ think the negatives are.
Old EQ is just clunky. It sucks that a lot of good games are stuck behind terrible UX/UI, especially so because a lot of grognards will defend the clunk no matter what.

I also found the grinding in EQ to never be the fun part, but a mandatory part of the game. About half of the ideas in EQ were great and either never copied or poorly copied, and half aged like *** or weren't even good at the time but got widely copied.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.
If you can.

Hours later, I couldn't get into this ****. Uninstalled.
So what was its turn offs? Could you be more specific?

I am always interested in what people today who have never played EQ think the negatives are.
Two Things:

1. I don't like MMOs in general. Boring as ****.

2. I'm a dipshit, so that probably factored into it.

No worries, at least you are fair about your reasoning. People who don't like it often blame the mechanics as being somehow the fault (ie bad game design) rather than it just being a taste in play that they don't care for.

Haven't played current EQ in several years. Last time I tried, I didn't care for it. I tried a progression server, it wasn't so bad, but it still wreaked of all the modern changes. As for FTP, no idea how they handle that in EQ.

EQ 2 is just plain ******** these days. I don't remember the details on what FTP restricts, but what I remember is that you get less of the "Cheat" crap that comes with a sub. Game is complete garbage now though, littered with modern mechanic changes, hand outs, and just pure moronic mainstream crap. While I was never a huge fan of EQ2, there was a time after release where it had some enjoyable play, I want to say... around the first Kunark expansion wasn't bad, but sometime during that they screwed the stat system up and made it mainstream MMOtarded (ie stats used to have different uses and were important regardless of class) by making only a single state relevant to a class.

Anyway, anything you get from the games won't have the charm of their original formats, so I would say... it depends, but not likely worth it.
