They've waited too long to release and now they have some actual competition:

Looks like the same game, but Dead Season lets you run over zombies with a combine. Unless Urban Strife has destructable environments, it sucks.

EA release today, after 8 years.

"An incredible journey of over eight years reaches its harbor today. What began as a project that, on paper, seemed impossible has now become reality: Urban Strife.

This game was brought to life by a dedicated team of three devs, alongside a roster of amazing friends who generously contributed their expertise. It’s still a rough gem, waiting to be cut and polished—that’s why we chose the Early Access path. We believe this is the best way to finish our journey: together with you, the players. Those players who – same as us three - wanted more and always got less from their games, because “it is what our focus groups say is trending”.

Making this moment even more special, we’re launching Urban Strife with the support of MicroProse—a name that has been synonymous with gaming excellence for generations.

In the past two weeks, we shared an Early Access preview build with over 100 content creators. Thanks to their efforts, we identified and fixed a dozen critical bugs, resolved hundreds of minor issues, and introduced vital balancing and quality-of-life updates. Their generosity in donating their time and expertise has been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful to them.

To those who’ve said, “I like the game, but I’d rather play it when it’s out of Early Access,” we hear you, too. We invite you to stay with us on this journey—share your ideas and critiques, and help shape Urban Strife into the game you want it to be when it officially launches as version 1.0.

So… welcome to Urban Strife. If you’re curious about what lies ahead, we’ve prepared a detailed Early Access roadmap for you. If you’re ready to dive in, check out the introductory playthrough running on a loop on our store page, or explore the quick tips we’ve provided under the “Quick Reference” section of our Steam page.

Good luck out there, and thank you for your incredible support!"

Here is the EA roadmap. They don't give any dates, and I am not sure what Act II RPG etc. means but it looks like they did **** all beyond Act1. Wouldn't expect a full release before 2028. They are mentioning a 6-12 EA period on Steam though :D

If Im not mistaken, they were planning to release it sometime in summer last year. But then JA3 happened and they postponed it for more than a year.

Yes, they said JA3 would compete, then BG3, then Starfield, and after that were too close to Steam sales to have an effective release. In fact they've been saying "almost done" for the past two years until they suddenly said this would be an EA release - which they also swore for a long time they wouldn't do because they have too much respect for their customers.

Not promising at all. Almost tempted to try the EA version just to see in how crappy of a state this one is in

That's probably the Ubisoft branch that is located in Bucharest. They don't do that much over there. Especially 8 to 10 years ago.

But, as I say that I'm fully aware that these dumbfucks are Romanians that have made a game that cannot be played in Romanian, so one cannot expect much to begin with.

Meh. Game is very slow, especially combat. Missing a lot of features you'd expect for basic UX stuff. I suspect it will be added, I just expected more after all this time.

It seems quite detailed tho. But I just don't want to continue playing until they work on it.

It was a genre success.
So they assumed, probably correctly, that the market was saturated and purchases of a second game would be reduced, favoring JA3 in the consideration of which to buy.
