The problem with this style of games is that they're glorified tower defenses and quickly run out of steam gameplay wise. Imo they should be outlawed as they are used for asset flips and other types of corruption and draw important developer resources away from real games.

The game I think I like best in this genre is Paleon. It starts out as a bit of a copy of Dawn of Man, although it goes into eras past pre-history.

Keep an eye on this game.

The Rimworld modders that made "Combat Extended" are giving a go at making a full game.
Where you can go out and scavenge and conquer.
I hope they pull it off.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

norland has interesting ideas, but dealing with 'moods' is always incredibly ********

it is as if you are dealing with the devs own neurosis and stupidity

Picked up Paleon as it's 75% off. Pretty addictive little game. Slow going and a bit more primitive than Rimworld but still addictive.

Are there any mods to turn Rimworld into an RPG?

It meets any requirement of an RPG you can throw at it, so there's no need.

Went back to Paleon and finished it. There really isn't anything challenging about the game as there are no threats. Villagers randomly dying from the cold during winter because they decide not to go home and warm up is the worst that happens. Apart from that it's just build more things if you accept more villagers.
I stopped accepting vaillagers when I got to 32 because it didn't feel like I needed anymore. I had cattle doing a lot of the work for me.

The game seems to be in EA even though it's not advertised as such. They're certainly still adding things so here's hoping they make it more challenging.

This happened to me in Amazing Cultivation Simulator. I had built more than enough beds and had assigned them to people, but then sometimes I see people randomly sleeping on dirt outside and losing morale.

End game settlement.

They just need to rename Anomaly and we can be back onto the RIBWORLD timeline.
They could rename it to "Woo-woo Spooky Reddit Creepypasta". It would be accurate.

Haven't checked the quality but the premise looks creative, unlike the previous "Woo-woo Spooky Reddit Creepypasta" expansion which is when I lost interest in the game.

It seems to be a few very popular mods ripped off and made into official content, like SOS 2 (spaceships), Geological Landforms, and various animal packs. I think more devs should do this, Bethesda especially.

Yeah, I don't mind the idea. Makes sense to sell what people really want.

Haven't played the game since the Ideology dlc. Did they add mimes (mimics) to the game and did they implement multithreading?

Spreadsheet somebody made showing which mods have been absorbed into the game. Claims there are over 50.

Nope. The last time a modder commented on that was the Wall Light guy, who declared he was free at last...then promptly relapsed back into wall light modding.

@Oyster Sauce Can you maybe do up a critical/important mod list?
I especially want a reliable mod to get rid of the homosexual and perverse pronoun ****, which I think goes into the critical pile.
Also probably a mod that stops colonists with a bad mood from doing sociopathic **** like vandalism and arson from out of the blue.
That sort of thing.

I haven't rebuilt my mod list since the game updated to 1.6 the other week. This is what I was using when I finished though.

I want to like games like this! But they just don't do enough. I draw some squares, I put in some chairs and tables and a bed. Now I have a little village. Some little guys attack and we win and gradually grow. Now I have 10+ citizens with their own homes and a store room and everything is working great. But now what? I need something else to do....

I was excited at the idea of going to other regions and then maybe the game could be some kind of strategy game or 4X or something. If I could build up my little village and then found other villages across the world. And then tech improves and soon we have well armed troops that I can send to war against other big tribes or something. That could be cool like in a grand 4x type game. But nothing really happens. I basically fill the small starter region with buildings and that's kind of the end. I could repeat it in another region but it would accomplish nothing.

If it was completely crap then I could just ignore it. But these games are close to being interesting so it's a big harsh tease. I would really like a cross between this game and Factorio. Like if you are not stuck in a small region but instead you can just keep growing your village and it grows into a city, that would be great. And if there were more meaningful attacks and combat, I might care more about defending it. And then if there were rare resources far away it would encourage me to expand my tribe and send them to capture further away lands, that would be great.
