If you've got Barkspawn, make sure he's being put on an enemy caster.

DAO having fights that actually require using tactics like this is why it's underrated imo

Probably a skill issue but I keep getting wiped by this one Darkspawn group in the Deep Roads and I don't want to skip them. It's putting me off loading up with the little time I have.
Crowd control key enemies, like spellcasters. (Crushing Prison, etc)
This.
I personally prefer Mana Clash against those, but it is a spell that costs a bit considering you need to pass 2 quite useless and 1 fairly OK spell before getting access to MC. However, it rocks against enemy spellcasters and all creatures of the Fade (yes, demons).

Having the dog do that charge attack that stuns any spellcaster can turn the battle in your favour and save your party from being wiped.

Puh, that would mean I would skip a month. Installed IW a few days ago and it literally gave me a bluescreen

Managed to get through the fight by drawing them away in groups (using a different entrance into the room) but still dropped a party member towards the end of the fight. All that to get to a chest I can't even open because Leliana isn't in my party.

My party consisits of:
Me: Dual wield rogue
Alistair: Sword and board
Morrigan: Switches depending on situation
Wynne: Switches depending on situation but mainly healer

Provided you got the right spells inbetween them or just one of them alone, you should be able to cast spells in sequence that together will become a "new spell": storm of the century.
Can decimate the darkspawn horde even near the bridge in Bownammar.

**** memory leak does NOT like it when I enter and leave buildings in cities. Both Lothering and Denerim have had the Lion's Share of crashes. Yes, I am using mods in an attempt to mitigate this. Gonna go un-furry some werewolves now.

Had the same issue even patched. Just had to relaunch the game every few hours and it was fine.

Yeah, those 4gb patchers don't seem to do ****. Had regular crashes even with it applied. And for whatever reason the longer I played the worse it ran until I closed it and then restarted it.

Going to repeat my dxvk recommendation then. It even recently got a major refactor in how it manages memory to alleviate this specific issue with 32bit games.

Why are you even playing a Rogue if you're not gonna invest in lockpicking? DAO is not that hardcore that you need to min-max your build to the point of saving attribute points by dumping Cunning, even on Nightmare difficulty.
Also, don't forget to buy a ton of Lyrium Dust and make like 300 tiniest Lyrium potions and then set your mages' tactics so that they would drink the smallest potion as soon as they have <90% mana. That way you can turn Wynne into an always-on healbot. I was running a "Goody Two-Shoes" party (Alistair, Leliana, Wynne) during my two-handed Warrior Nightmare difficulty run and we only ever got downed a few times during the big boss fights (Andraste, Gaxkang).

Well, I'll nominate Dragon Age 2. Just need to figure out how to do screenshots since snipping tool does not work nor does the EA Launcher have a screenshot button it seems. Might have to do it the old fashioned way of alt +print and then paste into paint.

Strange, works perfectly for me. Note that Denerim Market District is notoriously buggy, though; some sort of memory leak. If you can't load a save there, load a different one and THEN the Denerim save.
Are you using Win 10 or 11?

Made it to Orzammar, Elves & Mages all done, but I'm caught up making pointless changes to Textures, so I'm barely making progress.

That's a pain in the *** to do, as I was doing it for my first Veilguard playthrough.
I did download a ReShade to turn magenta into dark blue and the ReShade came with a very handy screenshot function.
You can download the ReShade by itself and just use it as a screenshot taker.

You don't need to invest anything into deft hands if you're using lethality. There are very few chests you can't revisit to pick later when you have 60 cunning to pick them without the talent points so all talents can be invested into combat.

Please elaborate.

I doubt I'll be able to finish the game this month, I haven't had much time or energy to devote to gaming due to work.
