@fkirenicus What is this about an attack speed bug I keep reading about and which fixpack/mod fixes this problem?
Some attack animations are for some of those who grew up with flashier fights than the ones in DA too slow, and they have tried to correct that. Personally, I find the default ones more realistic, but; to each his own.
Dain's fixes those that were positively wrong IIRC (talent bugs); the rest is IMO more a matter of taste. I think these "fixes" came after DA:E, where fights are considerably "flashier" - and with that, the start of the downfall of the series, IMO.

Alright. Installed all the mods I wanted, got the 4gb patch. Gonna play a City Elf this time, should be fun.
Ugh, forgot how ugly the faces were sometimes. Might have to switch to Humans since Elves don't seem to have mods.
Yes, I switched to Human, since I installed some faces and also the duncan armor so Cousland again.

You wouldn't like him if he stuck around. If you find out more of his backstory, you'd like him less.

There's a reason they chose Master Splinter's voice and only had him around for a little while. It's a psychological trick.

How can he be your favourite character, if there's so "little" of him in the game? Just the type of character he is? Don't get me wrong, I like Duncan, but there are characters far "better" imo and there's just not enough of him to justify that.

Duncan is a right **** to a Cousland and Mahariel players.
Oh, you want my help escaping with your life to avenge your family? Whoops, you have to agree to join the Wardens first.
Oh, you're dying of a terrible disease? I know of a cure. No, I won't tell you what it is unless you agree to join the Wardens.

As I understand for Cousland - he was required to join the Grey Wardens in case you were captured / spotted - Howe has no legal jurisdiction over the Wardens.

Maybe I misremembered it though. He seems like an okay sort though.

No Idea why everyone keeps thinking of Duncan like some goody-two shoes good guy when he is morally grey. You really think he is going to help you BEFORE getting what he needs from you? What is stopping the main character from saying "Oh well, you did cure me but I don't really want to be a warden. Huh, my family is avenged and I can start a family of my own to keep my royal legacy, no way will I be a warden." ?
And most of the origins, he gets you out of ****** situations by recruiting you because Grey Wardens can conscript people whenever they want, kinda like TKVNC said.

Yes, from his short apperance he already makes an impression and is memorable, both from his design and personality, add that to the fact he is voiced by Peter Renaday (Or if you play in german, Thomas Karallus who also voices Kevin James)

I’ve read his background on the wikipages of him, but honestly, I think you guys are exaggerating.
But enlighten me though, been awhile since I played it

Ah yes let's install this "fixes" mod. It would be annoying if my game was messed up by bugs Bioware didn't get around to patching out...
Increases movement speed out of combat by 50%
Removes the strength requirement from Helm of Honnleath. Inspiration for this was it bugging out with the No Helmet Hack on my low-strength rogues.
Increases Monetary Gain: Implemented this item effect in line with source comments and codex rewards. Gold from killing enemies is increased by 5% per such item held by the killer. Fully stacks with codex xp increase.
Greatly increased the chance of the starmetal encounter, slightly increased chances of other easter egg encounters.

Yeah, I don't actually like the fix packs. I'm using Combat Tweaks and it's addon for Awakenings.

Dain's includes fixes AND tweaks. It would be unwise to install all of it, simply because some features "kill" each other. I stick to the fixes - and not all, mind - and some tweaks. None of the above.

It's simple to customize by deleting folders.

Yep, but one has to do some reading in order to get all things to play nicely together... I have a setup I've kept for some years, storing it in a cloud service so that I can simply download it as it should be whenever I want to.

You'll want this mod to scale the UI if you have a 2k or 4k monitor. Could barely see the health bars without it.

If you get any dlc armor/weapons when you start the game, just destroy them. That's OP preorder ****.

I'm going on memory here, but there's two major DLCs that are part of the main campaign. One is earlier and gives a companion, it's not very long. The other is much later and higher level. I don't recall either breaking the balance.
All the other DLCs are separate campaigns you import your character into, except for leliana's song(takes place before the main campaign), and the one that lets you play as darkspawn(what if? scenario)

Oh, just remembered a third DLC. Mid-game DLC, short. Think it had some OK rewards, but it was mostly story to wrap some loose threads up.

[edit]
By 'import your character' I mean you have to finish that DLC then import it into another one, those can't be done while in the middle of another campaign(main campaign or DLC)
