Dawn of the Ashen Queen

Grid-based, RT dungeon crawler. Basically a Dungeon Master/Grimrock clone. It looks competently made and we hadn't many of those lately. I am in.

Biggest neg. for me from what is known is that you only create your PC, the other 3 NPCs are joining "all with their own personality". This and "Fleshed-out narrative driven gameplay with text-based cutscenes, dialogues and party banter bringing life to the world" is a bit off-putting, but I will try it either way.

Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

If there are only 3 NPCs, that's pretty bad and could even constrain how you build your PC. If it's pulling from a pool of 20 NPCs that come and go throughout your adventure and there's randomness to it, it could be cool.

Bit of a slow start. But it looks great and plays great. Just not all too interesting after the first couple of dungeons. Mostly easy fights, a very few basic puzzles and not much else to discover. otherwise.

Finished it. Pretty short at around 13h. Looks great, sounds great, exploration OK but overall not very exciting.

It's rather linear, you only have 3 mandatory companions and also otherwise not a great many options to build your party. Yet, they somehow completely miscalculated the players progress or so. It's getting bizarrely easy, even on the hardest mode. There is no need to dance around enemies after a few level and even the final boss falls in about 10 sec of just bashing him down. Still pretty nice game for a few hours.
