It’s almost admirable how Bethesda can go out of it’s way to learn absolutely nothing.
That takes true dedication right there ,far more dedication than the work they do on their own games
Thou shalt not SIMP
What needs to happen before these devs realize nobody wants to play that crap? Apparently ZAU sold too well...

The craziest thing is that I genuinely believe that these "Afro-centric" settings could be far more interesting if they were actually inspired by medieval Africa instead of just being "European but black".
Mali, Songhai, Aksum, Kush, just to name a few African kingdoms and empires that could be used as potential sources of inspiration that even someone like me - who only dabbles in history as a hobby - can name from the top of his head, yet game studios that burn billions of dollars can't even be bothered to use ******* Google to search up medieval African stuff.

It's not that surprising to me if you think about how this stuff is made by people who don't actually know anything about history nor are really interested in it on the one hand, while on the other hand being basically just motivated by anti-whiteism as opposed to wanting to produce something positive or aspirational for themselves.UltraFan123 wrote: ↑ October 25th, 2024, 19:00The craziest thing is that I genuinely believe that these "Afro-centric" settings could be far more interesting if they were actually inspired by medieval Africa instead of just being "European but black".

You wouldn't believe how common insane Afrocentrist beliefs are among Africans in America.
It's a majority of them. Like 95%.

Now I'm somewhat conflicted.
On top of the digital art I'm learning, I also got myself a copy of RPGMaker cuz I'm considering the possibility of one day making my own media, and obviously my fantasy setting will be focused on true European-inspired stuff from both West and East Slavic stuff.
However, at the back of my head there's now an idea of also creating another human tribe inspired by the medieval African stuff I mentioned, and I don't mean a copy-paste of real-life Africa but a true fantasy setting that uses some elements of it, just like how Tolkien didn't made a copy-paste of real Western Europe for his books.
Part of this idea comes from my desire to own the libtards making these boringass Afro-centric games ala "this is how you do it you hacks". But at the same time, I myself am tired of looking at ******* everywhere left and right, and the market of pretty much everything - games, comics, books, TV, films, etc - is also sick of ******* as well.
I reckon this is part of the damage that woke intersectionality had done to modern culture, even if someone in good faith made a fantasy setting inspired by Africa purely because this someone genuinely liked history and had no malicious antiwhite intentions, pretty much everyone would automatically assume he's a libtard pushing an agenda.
Hell that's what I would assume as well. lol

The Linux version of Wasteland 3 is strictly superior to the Windows version.
Windows version uses il2cpp which makes modding much harder, Linux version doesn't.
You could almost guaranteed convert the Linux version to Windows with a bit of effort tho.

The open ended feat list design with very few that have prereqs is really bad design imo. It shifts the burden of choice to the start of the game when the player knows the least about the game and how it works.
A 'tree'(...) design is strictly superior from a player's perspective. It eases you into the game with only a handful of choices and opens up the longer you play.
Tree in this context does not refer to the standard so-called "skill tree" but more of a general term for a large branching design. Technically with multiple prereqs it would no longer be a tree but some sort of graph. But we don't call it a family graph, so, I digress.

Unity uses it to convert c# to c++. It was originally intended for iOS deployment due to their strict policies on apps using JIT compilers. Also saw some use in online games because it makes it harder to decompileRand wrote: ↑ October 27th, 2024, 08:34Weird.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ October 27th, 2024, 01:33The Linux version of Wasteland 3 is strictly superior to the Windows version.

For some reason devs decided to use it for single player pc games. I assume they see c++ and think it will be a huge performance benefit. I could go on a long tangent as to why that's debatable, but very few games are cpu bound to begin with.

Not really beating the stereotypes here; women demand to stop being associated with cooking and other domestic stuff -> women take over tabletop -> women transform tabletop into cooking-based and domestic-themed general ****.
Also, WotC really enjoys hammering down how they believe that orcs are just fantasy ******* in their modern art, huh.

The next Utawarerumono game and the sequel to Monochrome Mobius has been announced! Utawarerumono: Shiro e no Michishirube. Seems they decided to put the Utawarerumono franchise name back on after MM. So far no screenshots, just stills from the anime OP.

Hopefully most of the game will take place in Arva Shulan (the new fantasy India introduced and briefly visited in MM), rather than Yamato yet again. Sadly our party seems to be the same. No Vurai tagging along. Hopefully we will get some new party members from Arva.

Looks like Karura is being shoehorned into the story, and a Touka expy? Is this supposed to be Touka's mom, or some never before mentioned sister? Or is it a coincidence that we are seeing a new member of the extremely rare Evenkuruga race who coincidentally looks very similar to Touka? Maybe I am being thrown off by how much older this character looks than Touka did in the Masks duology, where Touka looked younger and takes place several years after Monochrome Mobius. Maybe she just got a redesign. Alternatively given the time travel stuff in the gacha game, and the insinuation of timeline manipulation at the end of Monochrome Mobius, perhaps it could actually be future Touka from Masks or after Masks.
Checked out some games via gameplay footage:
Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale - Steam/GoG
Hand of Doom - Steam/GoG
Band of Crusaders - Steam/GoG
From what I saw, all are more or less without diversity, or there is next to none. Band of Crusaders is the most promising, but Hand of Doom has its charm too. Tortuga looks boring with the hex-grid combat but it can be your cup of tea.

I hate ending slides in RPGs, take the time to make "post-game" content so you can go around visiting everyone. If it's meant to be some time after, then set it some time after.

100 percent agree on this. I understand why indie devs don’t do that because of budget reasons but never found a satisfying reason why AAA or AA continue to do the slide endings when they have the capability to just do a proper epilogue.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ November 14th, 2024, 10:07I hate ending slides in RPGs, take the time to make "post-game" content so you can go around visiting everyone. Trails of Cold Steel 2 had a playable epilogue chapter set 3 months after the climax/final boss, where you got to see the fallout of your actions, got a final sendoff to the NPCs, and got to go on one last fun outting with the characters. And then it also had ending credits slides to show you what people were doing even after that.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ November 14th, 2024, 10:07I hate ending slides in RPGs, take the time to make "post-game" content so you can go around visiting everyone. RDR games take care of this by having you play as a separate character in the post-game content.wndrbr wrote: ↑ November 15th, 2024, 06:46Ending slides would make sense in a game with a definite ending where the main character won't be able to see the aftermath of their actions. Like in Mass Effect 3, for example.
