Just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention, looks like a solo developer effort(?) and absolutely cozy-maxxed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I'm tempted, but I hate being an early or first adopter. If it was free or < $3 I'd probably try it.

It's very good.

He has a lot more planned, like changes to the combat UI.

But the next release will be delayed until likely October because he and his wife are having to deal with both of their cats due to diabetes and old age and will likely have to put them down. :(

So, for a serious answer:

It's a party-based dungeon crawler that has a surprisingly large world. The emphasis is on exploration and he's put many different ways to interact with the world through puzzles and traps. As you advance, additional ways to interact become available through items and skills.

The player class is pre-defined, but is fairly generic with a lot of different types of skills to choose from. You only build the PC, party members are found throughout the world and can be recruited. Some classes have more than one recruitable character (1 male and 1 female), although hunter and shadow (iirc) only have one each because of the exploration skills they provide.

Combat is round based. Party members are in front or back rows. The guardian class has a unique ability to use all attacks from the back row.

Enemy type and attack variety is good.

Performance can take a hit sometimes, as he created this in RPG Maker using a 3D plugin, so it can use a suprising amount of CPU. He's put in a lot of performance work, though, from what I can tell. I haven't played it since April, but at that point performance was decent enough.

Thanks @rusty_shackleford I appreciate it! I've been meaning to create a profile here for some time now to start a thread about this game (yeah, this is indie marketing when there's no budget) and was happy to see that one was already created.

So, I now take an opportunity to mention that there's an update coming on Monday, which will bring some performance improvements, details to the forest textures to add depth and other tweaks and fixes.

The next content update is planned for October and it will bring a new overworld area, new dungeons and new enemies.

I posted some screenshots of the upcoming forest textures in X:

I'm not here to push agendas, I'm here to create as good and deep drpg as I can, inspired by the classics such as Dungeon Master, Wizardry, Eye of the Beholder, Might & Magic, Lands of Lore and so on...

Anyone trying to find some modern politics or other crap from this game will be disappointed. Human npcs in that world are white - it's a fantasy setting inspired by European middle-ages. There are two other races than humans, Arkon (silver skinned) and Anuna (bronze skinned), but they are not some allegory of today's racial issues. Main character's gender can be chosen from male or female, but that's it for the gender. There's no 'other', 'them/they' etc.

There isn't any visual novel stuff, there's not even cut scenes! Also it's not a dating simulator. The game won't hold your hand, explain everything and there isn't any forced tutorials.

The game may look cosy, but that's because I want the art style to bring contrast to what's happening in the gameworld. And it looks rad when playing with Nvidia 3D Vision.

@Witchgrove Games

Any reason why there's no playable demo?

I would like to try this but $20 is a bit steep for an unknown quantity.

There was a demo version, but I removed it because it became so outdated that I felt it didn't give a proper impression of the game. There were so big changes/additions to gameplay mechanics, performance and graphical improvements etc. to the main game that it started to feel like that the demo version was from a different game. And because I'm working on this alone, I didn't feel like making those changes to the demo version - there's enough work for me on the game itself. The demo version might be floating somewhere around the internet, but the game has come a long way since.

Who am I to choose who gets interested in the game, beggars can't be choosers. When it comes to politics and the state of humanity in general, I've lost my faith for them a long time ago (and I really don't care to get it back or need someone to tell me how to think or feel), so I really don't give a **** if someone worships eastern bunny or shoves beer bottles up his arse, as long as no one comes ******** on my corn. I'm just here to promote my game for anyone who might be interested in a good old-fashioned rpg, not to talk about ideologies or the insanity of the human race.

@1998 I'm aiming for the next summer. All the mechanics are already in the game, so most of the updates will be about content.

Thank you @rusty_shackleford.

@Kalarion a purchase always helps, at least it helps to keep up the illusion that spending years with this project just might be worth the effort someday. Just kidding, I'm doing this out of passion for rpgs and games in general, otherwise I would have chosen a different genre or at least different sub-genre. Of course I hope that someday I could earn my living with this, but it's probably not going to happen with this game. But I don't want to think about the future too much. Support is always appreciated!

The next update is only hours away. Even though it's mainly finished, I'm still working on it to squeeze in something little extra.

Update v.0.7.3 has been released and it brings fps limit to improve performance, two optional small dungeons, new lanterns, attack animations to some enemies and other changes and fixes! It's been a long night and day and there's still much to do before rest, so I will just leave this here:

Hey remember when the Codex started censoring users to make gay game devs who couldn't handle free speech feel more comfortable with the forum? Really makes me think
