Decided to give Trepang 2 a shot, and what I got in return is one of the finest FPS games I have ever played. I am almost tempted to say it is the BEST FPS game I have ever played. What it lacks in optimisation via the Unreal Engine, it makes up for with intense, butt-clenching action and some cool missions. Not to mention some surprisingly good voice work now and then. It takes heavy inspiration from F.E.A.R, since you are given slow-mo powers, but it isn't a knockoff by any means and feels entirely different to play. F.E.A.R is more tactical, this one focuses on the action, and is all the better for it.

Aside from the leader of the organisation you work for being a woman, I haven't detected much poz yet. It's just another case of a small developer bringing AAA slop to it's knees.

I tried Wayfinder, and it's exactly what you'd think. DEIified slop, terrible modern "fantasy" non-story, marvel quips in the first minute, etc.,
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Meh, gameplay is fine, looting and leveling.
There used to be a gaming tv show called GameOne and in one of the christmas episodes, they talked about what they like and he made a song about it
When I see a box, I stop to see what's inside
Maybe it's a weapon or armor - Oh no, it's just crap
But even crap doesn't stop me from seeing what's in the next box
And so it goes on all the time, I simply cannot resist
When I see an opponent, I quickly run over to smash him to bits
Could be that he's got something cool that's worth stealing for me
I also get experience points for every clown I kill
After all, my little man has to get strong and that's hardly possible without XP

Looting and leveling, that has to be in a game
Even with a dull story and ugly graphics, it's still a good deal for me

I love the moment when, after the job is done,
the Level Up screen pops up and I'm spoiled for choice in the skill menu
I always say yes to loot and experience
Even if I'm already the hero in the marquee and onehit standard mobs

Looting and leveling, that's just part of it
Most games without it are just damp rubbish for me

They wanted me to pick 1 of 3 characters but one was black and the other was a woman. That's an illusion of choice.

Finished Hard West II. I found it a lateral sequel that improves on its predecessor in some ways and is lesser in others. First and foremost, I like how they added manual saving and autosaves after every turn, though it wasn't quite as necessary because it was a very smooth and polished experience. It certainly looks like a higher budget game, and they even got Kevin Conroy to voice a character somehow. I like how card hands now give unique bonuses to a given character.

I'm fine with how luck is now just something specific to your characters that gives a bonus to your to-hit chances instead of a meter that protects a character from taking damage. The addition of Bravado, which refreshes all your action points after you kill an enemy, is nice but of course they balance a lot of the enemy numbers with this in mind.

I agree with Rusty that I don't quite like how the setting is presented here compared to the first game; in that one, it was a mostly normal world where the supernatural lurked on the fringes like true urban fantasy, here they hit you with big fantastic elements from the start and it's very pervasive throughout. The plot was okay, but the conflict isn't as personal, so I didn't find it as gripping even though they put greater emphasis on companion writing.

Overall okay, glad I gave it a shot.

Didn't you originally disagree with me when I brought this up about how hard west has a lot of fantasy stuff?

I checked the logs and I did not see any specific disagreement regarding this claim, no.

The other episodes are actually a lot better. They made a mistake making the first episode first.

Been enjoying the final DLC for Remnant 2. I won't lie I would of preferred a new world altogether but for what we ended up getting I'm content until whenever Remnant 3 releases.

I have been reading through Witch on the Holy Night in between playing FF11 with the HQers.

I remember the VN community talking about this a decade ago, when all we knew that it looked good and sounded good. The music was by Hideyuki Fukasawa. There was a partial English fan translation patch, but a lot of us were waiting for the full thing to get translated. Now it has finally come to Steam and has been fully translated into English, so I decided to check it out.

The VN is very highly produced. Ofcourse, there are other highly produced VNs like Muv-Luv or Utawarerumono, but this one has better visual directing/storyboarding than those and is able to wring even more mileage out of its plethora or CGs. Rather than introducing you to the whole CG or background, this VN instead has a tendency to start off by showing you slices of the background art, and then eventually shows the whole thing. Dialogue scenes also have a lot of movement and changing of camera positions to make it more visually engaging rather than just having a static camera and a static background with only the character sprites changing. It's hard to showcase all of these movements in a static forum post. I don't think making gifs would sell it very well.

There are lots of small touches that add up, such as when a character enters a dark room and flips on the light and not only does it fade between the darkened and lit room background art, but you also have that spark visual effect reflected in glass. Or when Aoko and Alice are fighting over the hot pot with their sticks. Etc.

It is unfortunate that the writing is not as good as its production values. First, there is far too much prose, which very bad for a book/VN. The most interesting part of a story is the dialogue as that is where most of the plot happens. People will skip prose and go to dialogue because they want to know how a character feels and what they will say. They express reasoning, feelings, and react to events. Dialogue exposes who a character is. Lots of prose in a book is already bad, but it's even worse in a VN when we have the audio-visuals showing us what is happening. I don't need the story to repeatedly stop and dump paragraphs about how Aoko is mad. That was already clear from the visuals. There is also too much technobabble about stuff being pulled out of thin air. There is no puzzle to predict what the solution will be here.

Second, the characters start off as being very stereotypical and unimaginative. Aoko is yet another furious high school tsundere. Alice is yet another deadpan kuudere. Yet another everyman wimp protagonist. And so on. There is little to grasp onto here. It does get more entertaining further in.

Started a playthrough of "Days Gone", a Sony Cinematic Slop™ game. Despite how badly these games are meme'd on nowadays, and despite the corporate logo on startup literally being a carbon copy of Marvel's, it seems pretty decent. It's not a sort of game I haven't already played before, being a standard third-person action game with crafting, but for what it is it seems quite fun. It helps that you're playing as a masculine white man and not some strong womyn or gay POC. I'm actually shocked the game exists because of it.

I only just started so I'm holding my breathe for some poz down the line.
Game journos **** all over it for that reason. It was blatant.
If had been an unlikeable mouthy lesbian negress instead...

Also, the game was pretty buggy on release, and ran poorly on those ****** consoles.
But runs well on a decent 5 year old PC. I only had one glitch on the whole playthrough.

It was a fun game. Would recommend if you like actiony open world shooters at all.

There's only one element of poz in it.
And of course it's an out of place dumpy black lesbian.

I misclicked a lot in combat because they play their idle animations and some of them move around a lot. Was very annoying.
That's why you can target up on the initiative bar instead, iirc.

Finish Saints Row 2022. I expected it to be woke but instead its just painfully inoffensive which is far worse because it’s just boring. Although the dialogue is cringey as **** and is definitely peak millennial humour.

Vaas is really crazy and unique if you're a pigskin libtard who never has to interact with brown people to know they're basically like apes where you have to constantly be on guard for when they randomly decide to get violent.
