My guess is that they went with a female samurai due to how popular Blue Eye Samurai is. The MC also kind of looks like Mizu, the main character of that show. Also, the game takes place in the same era as Blue Eye Samurai.

I remember watching Angry Joe's review of Skull & Bones out of morbid curiosity and even he was getting sick and tired of the feminist ******** in that game. If a liberal normie like Joe is sick of feminist **** in games that is a good indicator that a majority of gamers are also sick of it. This game could be good but the timing for the protagonist they want is very bad. Given the success of Space Marine 2 and the failure after failure of games with a female protagonist it is safe to say that games with masculine male protagonists are what is selling right now. Doesn't help that Western devs keep making female protagonists look like King Charles II of Spain with a personality of a viper. Nobody wants to play female characters like that.

You have to understand when this game was greenlit. It was greenlit around 2020-2021. The year that DEI was at it's height and companies like BlackRock had a ton of money to burn with pushing DEI initiatives. Now? Not so much. More and more companies are pulling out of DEI due to a combination of them losing so much money on games that don't sell and the economy being in the toilet. Even BlackRock is forsaking it (For now. That godless **** Fink will try again.) after losing trillions over the years and not seeing any profits. This game on release will be a relic of a dark time in gaming. It will probably be another 200+ million dollar game that Sony will waste money on. Funny how after Concord's failure they refuse to give up on DEI. Which shows that the higher ups at Sony are true believers in this **** as everyone else is in the pedophile hellhole that is Los Angeles.
