I was playing Baizuo's Gate 3 in honor mode.
My first almost death was in this situation. I missclicked the mob and ended hitting the chick that I was supposed to protect and in the very next round she was paralyzed.
But I failed. In chapter 2, during Sharn temple, I missclicked and ended triggering Gale magical nuke. Killing myself in the process

I misclicked a lot in combat because they play their idle animations and some of them move around a lot. Was very annoying.

SoD is actually decent gameplay-wise. If someone rewrote the story/characters it would be solid.

You can basically merge BG1-SoD-BG2 all in a single package. That's BG:EET, which is usually the best way to enjoy the entire series, provided you fine tune some things a bit.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 16:47I got the EEs a while ago without knowing any differences. Guide's here https://k4thos.github.io/EET-Compatibil ... -List.html
As you can see, getting EET to work can be a bit of a pain in the *** and it takes time and installing mods in a certain order.
Alternatively, you can download the Unfinished business mods for both BGs and @loregamer's Convenient Enhanced Edition NPCs 4.6 for a better experience.
This one's fine for both BGs, too. EE Fixpack

Don't see much of a reason to merge them, I played thru it not too long back and the character export/import worked fine. They all use the same engine, so meh.
The reason for the original trilogy mod was to get them all on the BG2 engine which was just superior.

You can return to BG after BG1, add IWD 1-2, get some BG1 companions back and **** around a bigger map. Maybe not much else but it aint terrible. All mods are installed in the same place so you dont have to install mods twice, too.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 17:03Don't see much of a reason to merge them, I played thru it not too long back and the character export/import worked fine. I’m gonna guess that those companions I would just randomly stumble on were added by the enhanced edition? Like that monk near the first dungeon and that gnome at the entrance to Baldur’s Gate?

BG1 has a LOT of companions by default, there was no reason to add more.Brother Michael wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 17:14I’m gonna guess that those companions I would just randomly stumble on were added by the enhanced edition? There's also Baeloth. And BG2 adds the homosexual ugly negress vampire.

Played and beat Crysis Remastered, and am in the middle of playing through Crysis 2 (Original). I think Crysis is a great FPS, and sort of a middleground between Halo and Call of Duty, with an open sandbox setting combined with a two-weapon limit, and combat against both human soldiers and aliens. The first game was always a looker, even the original 2007 version had stood the test of the time, and some would argue it looks 'better' than the remaster. Which goes for a different, more colorful aesthetic reminiscent of Far Cry 3. I didn't mind it, but I'll be honest I'd have rather played the original version if I was actually able to get it to run. Oh well.
The first half of the game is better than the second, which nosedives pretty severely with annoying, alien enemies and a terrible VTOL mission. But ends on a climactic note. Crysis 2 picks up in a disease-ridden, apocalyptic New York where the aliens have infected people wiith a virus and a PMC company by the name of CELL is imposing martial law. Despite the open sandbox being replaced by a strictly linear, scripted campaign like Call of Duty, it's a decent enough shooter. But it's a shame they chose to just copy Call of Duty instead of playing to the first game's strengths.

Not really, I think there's a few mods that try to "circumvent" that but just another excuse to mix everything in the BG bag. OG crysis is one of my favorite FPS ever, and I do think it looks better than the remaster. It's one of the few FPS that I've played through multiple times, including beating all of the difficulties. The hardest difficulty really makes you master swapping the nanosuit quickly. I would make a ritual of playing through it every time new GPUs dropped. The most ostentatious playthrough was probably triple SLI GTX titans on a triple 30-inch monitor setup (7860x1600). It's sad that nobody cares about pushing PC gaming and making games to scale with future hardware anymore.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 17:30Played and beat Crysis Remastered, and am in the middle of playing through Crysis 2 (Original). Sadly, Crysis 2 was a gut punch in the consolization trend, a precursor to the "modern audience." It's ok, but not half the game Crysis 1 is, and even the graphics were dumbed down. If you bought the Remastered trilogy, make sure to pick up Crysis Warhead separately since it isn't included. That's the standalone expansion to the original Crysis. It's just as good as the base game and more combat heavy. You play as Psycho and get a six-shot grenade launcher that is extremely destructive and a real game-changer if you play on the higher difficulties and master it.
Solidus Snake Did Nothing Wrong
Yeah Crysis 2 strikes me as a very average shooter, no better than a 5/10. It looks nice despite being consolized, but the gameplay is way too scripted, way too handholdy. It plays like every other, dime-a-dozen seventh gen FPS. Which is really what killed the franchise. If they stuck to what made the original a hit, it could've been a strong AA franchise to this day.DDC wrote: ↑ September 24th, 2024, 12:29OG crysis is one of my favorite FPS ever, and I do think it looks better than the remaster. Edit: Another thing that's offputting, but to a lesser extent, is the massive retcons to the storyline between Crysis and Crysis 2. The alien threat is vastly different, your nanosuit is more akin to "Venom" from Spider-Man than the Mark VI of Halo, and it does not continue the ending of Crysis in any way. None of the main characters are referenced either, aside from Prophet. I heard this pattern continues in Crysis 3, which has it's own set of retcons, but I'll wait and see for myself. I think that's another reason this series sort of fizzled out. If you don't have a coherent, overarching storyline then what's the point?.

After the shitshow that was Frostpunk 2, I wanted a fun strategy game, so I went to my backlog and pulled out Iron Harvest. It mostly delivered. It's basically company of heroes set in an alternate WW1 history with steampunk mechs. I had bought it several years ago when it was new-ish but got sidetracked by something else. Visually impressive game, everything blows up well and it's fun to watch the mechs slug it out with each other. They put some effort into the story and it has cutscenes of 5+ minutes between levels, unfortunately sometimes infected by girlbosses.
Overall I enjoyed it with some caveats. The first is that the campaigns had too many of the dreaded hero-centric "puzzle missions." If the campaigns each have 7 missions and 2-3 of them are puzzle missions, that doesn't leave much room to spread your wings. There just were not enough big battles where you have access to all of your units. The units also move too sluggishly, lending to a plodding feel at times. Lastly, on normal difficulty, the AI often wasn't aggressive enough, lending to a feel of methodically "clearing" the map (with slow units) rather than being in a real back-and-forth battle. There were some missions in the DLC where the AI pressed a lot more and they were awesome.

I believe that Swen's drive and personable autism is both the company's greatest asset and it's most damning bane. After D:OS2->"""BG""""""3"""'s 180 in terms of direction compared to D:OS1->D:OS2, I shudder to think what they'll **** up now that WotC/Hasbro has burned the bridge to Larian.Roguey wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 12:07This has been a problem people have been complaining about since Divinity: Original Sin and Swen is absolutely determined to never change it.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 23rd, 2024, 07:33I misclicked a lot in combat because they play their idle animations and some of them move around a lot. Dropped Crysis 2 near the end, just got far too repetitive and couldn't take it any more. FPS games are incredibly boring when they're this dumbed down, and aside from the graphics Crysis 2 really has nothing on offer that hasn't been done better in other games. Crysis 3 looks to be more of the same, so I won't even bother.
Recently tried both Shadow Warrior and Shadow Warrior 2, with both games being above average titles with boat loads of ironic humor. Some of it lands, while most does not. I probably would have been receptive to it back when these titles first launched, but I'm matured and find any bit of ironic humor tiresome and cringeworthy. As games they can be quite fun, especially the sword mechanic, but after Crysis 2 I'll think I'll just sit on any new FPS games for a while.

Just started Breath of Fire 2 with a variety of hacks including a new translation and a game balancing patch. I had some fond memories of the original BOF on the SNES but never played the sequel. The encounter rate and experience curves in the original must have been absolutely brutal, because they are annoying even with some rebalancing. I'm liking the art and animations a lot. The turnaround time of 20 months from BOF1 to BOF2 seems insane compared to modern development cycles.
Also, the contrast between the US and japanese box art is hilarious. Seeing Ryu as a jacked, He-Man looking chad and all of the party members looking super angry is ludicrous, especially compared to their portrayals in the actual game. Shows the rapid and harrowing decline of American society in that this is what was thought would sell just a few decades ago, and now game companies are hiring consultants to make their characters intentionally androgynous.
