Can I get an Icewind Dale badge if I finished the adventure 24 years ago? No screenshots or victory message to provide other than a hand written journal.

The game was a day one purchase for me on release.

Not sure I recall there being TUNNELING Umberhulks in Icewind Dale 2, I am really liking this game! I really liked the 2nd one, but now that I am playing the first one, I would not compare the two, first one is better in my opinion on many things, though the second one will always hold a dear place in my heart.
I also really liked how there was a big chamber with priests and I sent a scout ahead and found some sort of idol, then made a save called "Heist" and did a mission impossible-style thing with putting Haste and Improved Invisibility on three of my party members and sending them over to destroy that thing, then sent also the mage over with an invisibility potion, who then started the full on fight by casting Summon Monsters and breaking the spell on himself. Seeing every undead that had us surrounded, and honestly made me think I might have just ****** up pretty badly, suddenly be destroyed when that thing broke was incredible. Love trying mad ideas I am not sure I will be able to pull off, and actually see the game reacting to them!

Sorry for the continuous questions, but I wanted to ask: is Malavon going to come back later on? I swear I recall his name being in Icewind Dale 2 as an NPC or something with the driders and some sort of rebellion (?), yet he is dead here. Did he do another simulacrum or something? Do not spoil it if he indeed is coming back for a "last hurrah" later on, though I do not recall him being so mad in the second game, and only remember him because the name was cool and the quest was about the driders, but otherwise I recall him as some random NPC from back then.

No, they never explain how Malavon (or Illmadia, for that matter) returns.

Yet another way this game makes me realize the second one is a sort of "modern spin-off" compared to the first one, thank you for the information once again!
Another thing that was on my mind if I may, I met some barbarian back in Kuldahar that spoke of taking the party somewhere, I do not see the main quest taking us anywhere but deeper underground from here, should I go back to him first or will it all come back together? Last time I spoke to him he said I wasn't strong enough yet, though it has been a while since.

That's Heart of Winter, the expansion campaign. You need to be at least Lvl 9 to start....

You have two options for HoW:
once you are high enough level, talk to Hjollder and he will transport you
once you complete the game, all of your characters will automatically be exported and you can import them in a new HoF game

You can also just start a new game for HoF with new characters if you want (but low level characters will have a difficult time).

Will speak to him before I see there might be a no-return point and see what the expansion is about and decide from there, will do it after the main game otherwise, thank you yet again

I noticed in my game Malavon had a *uses a scroll* text pop up when he died. I don't know if he was trying to use a scroll when he died or if that was a way for the devs to hint he did something sneaky as my broadsword cut his face in half.

That is interesting! Though I would say it was added by EE if it was a thing.
In my game I did not notice any text, but he died very strangely in my game, and it had me laugh in both pity and amusement.

Something is messed up because he's supposed to have some new spells, a new robe, and one other item. The only new spell he stocked was oracle. Supposedly it's a known issue and something about how the engine handles things and there's no way to fix it.

And yeah that sash is OP as hell.

That sucks, hope your Heart of Fury run goes well even with this issue. Issues I have encountered myself that I think it's engine or AI related is one that, if a dialogue begins, it cancels any spellcasting but acts as if the spell failed, wasting the slot and the spell. Another is that my party gets stuck all together as if stacking on top of eachother and cannot move until I manually move them all out of that "knot" one by one.
Also, thank you for the info as well!
