These open world games just don't really feel like video games to me, I think I'm just used to a different kind of game. Unless it's one of this grindy crafting games throwing me into an open world with 200 hrs of shallow content and boring content and told to "make my own fun" just sounds like torture. We need to go back to Kotor with focused level and game design.

The reason they do this shallow open world game design is because Skyrim made a **** ton of money and these companies have been trying to chase Skyrim's success for over a decade now. Skyrim and it's consequences have been a disaster for open world game design.

Yeah George imagined everything being worn down and gritty in the OT, but the Rebel alliance weren't a bunch of sandniggers going on a jihad for kyber crystals. They were a primarily organized force of white people/Organized Militia + former imperial military + aliens fighting for the freedom of the galaxy and a higher quality of life than the tyranny of summary execution because a discord janny imp officer just doesn't like you.



They also suck at making interesting Fringe characters. Dash Rendar was far more likable, didn't have anything to do with illegal drugs or slavery, fit into the main plot bridging Empire and ROTJ, and I'm glad even Disney believed he died.

I remember playing the first TLOU it was good, later on i got very disappointed when 2nd game leaked but it was mostly funny too see and disappointment.

Ubisoft slop used to bearable at a deep discount but it’s not even worth that anymore with there new games.

I wanted to try out the gameplay first but the sheer amount and length of UNSKIPPABLE ******* cutscenes where you had to look at even more bug-eyed Debra Wilson made sure that I didn't get further than the first white granite planet. Oh, and the evil Sith ***** was ugly as sin. They chose the most devastatingly hideous pajeeta for that character face model.

My only exposure to the sequel is the video of some guy breaking out of bounds to the point of getting a development storyboard instead of a proper cutscene for one of the final missions.

Still waiting on someone to make a mod to remove her from both games. I suppose I could just exchange her model for one of the several female Kal/EU characters/Ahsoka replacements and see if it works but...my backlog is too large to bother with games that require modding to enjoy atm.

What I wanted from large open world games was more of a EQ in its systems (ie respawning mobs, rares, rare drops, etc...) all gated by a progression of getting gear, levels, skills, etc... with long extremely difficult dungeons and the like.. It is a simple design and would be a heck of a lot more entertaining than running fedex quests, farming for crafting, building homes, playing dress up and all of that garbage. Heck, even throw in the old school text input quests that are vague and take a lot of time to look for items to create unique and powerful items.

If it was balanced in a way to make it extremely hard (ie souls like difficulty, but with RNG systems), but properly risk vs reward based, I know I would enjoy it.

Instead, we get ******** WoW like models of mundane play.
