Honestly I don't know what to think of it yet. I thought HSR was even more simplified and mobilised than GI. But this one goes even further. It feels like a visual novel than an actual game. Not that miHoYo games were particularly engaging.

I suppose the idea was to create a space where teenagers can hang out doing their usual teenagy stuff.

I like the visuals, don't get me wrong. But it is basically just a fighting game with nothing much else to it. It's exactly what you want if you like those, but I need something more in my games than just a good fight system.

Even the combat is not good enough. You can basically kill everyone with left click spamming. Theres no heavy attack in a usual sense. You cannot freely switch between heroes. Ultimate energy is per party, i.e. only one hero can pop up his ult and then it goes on cd. Chain attacks lock you in animation sequences with no control over characters. Its just boring. And then there are these TV episodes which people complained about during betas. They are there just to distract you from the boringly simple and repetitive combat.

Also the translation was again westernised. Im playing with Chinese VO and I can hear the siblings calling themselves 'gege' (older brother) and 'meimei' (younger sister) more often than not. They rarely use their nicknames 'Wise' and 'Belle'. In English version its vice versa.

This games theme actually looks like sci fi and somd kiddy cyberpunk. Some characters actually look futuristic. Not like in HSR where most characters wear different variations of chinese national costumes.

I heard similar things from random players, yes. However if you look at metacritic reviews ZZZ is generally praised by the media while WuWa is not.

I wouldn't really understand those games even if I wasn't repulsed by weebart, because the mechanism of action that apparently makes people like gambling doesn't exist in my brain and is so deeply alien that I can only understand it in the abstract.

The character designs are very samey. It's all teenagers or people in the young 20s. No one who looks older than 25, no men with a non-twink physique, no facial hair, etc. I like young beautiful skinny people too, but when your entire cast all looks the same, it gets pretty stale. And then they have straight up model reuse with almost identical clothing silhouettes:

Its how anime works. Anime laws. Characters have to look young to be popular. Vreating a character with a beard wont make it popular. Everyone wants young chicks with big tiddies.

There is actually a playable character with a beard and a fedora in another gacha Wuthering Waves. But I recon its generally a nono in anime style games.

Character models and animations are unique for each character in this particular game. Genshin Impact uses the same models - small, medium, tall. But not this game.
