Yeah, Twilight Princess is an Action-Adventure.

Action-Adventure is a label so generic I refuse to use it. Every adventure contains "Action" or it wouldn't be adventurous. It's the white noise of "I don't know what genre this is".

Oh yeah, MM7 is the best in the series IMO, and DMoMM was quite fun in a karate kick sort of way.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is classed as an action adventure game on Wikipedia. Would you agree and want to change it? Never played it so not sure myself.

I couldn't care less about what Wikipedia says in all honesty. The largest difference between, for example, Twight Princess and Dragon Quest VIII are that the latter is turn based and has a party plus a leveling system and the other is not. If that is enough to count as "role playing" then the genre label has lost all meaning. (Any kind of reactivity or choices on the part of the player are almost completely absent, you wander across the world in a predetermined order similar to the Zelda series. There is no role to play because the protagonist is silent, generic and basically nothing but the vehicle through which you experience the story.)

Also, you already included The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in your list. I'd bet Wikipedia lists that as an action-adventure too but I haven't checked.

I don't care either way honestly, do as you like. If you still want to use the list feel free to remove Zelda, bump everything up a spot and put Mass Effect 2 in place number 5.

As I am not a game journalist, I am self aware enough that my top 5 are probably not great games because of great stories and game mechanics, but because I personally enjoyed them so much while playing.
It's tough to come up with a list of just 5, but as a start:

• Exile III

• Morrowind
• Jagged Alliance 2

That last one (#5) is the tricky part. Might be Jagged Alliance 2, Terraria (if you count it as an RPG), or one of many others like Chrono Trigger or Dragon Age Origins or Baldur's Gate.

The STALKER games fail the RPG test because the player's avatar has no inherent stats or perks or anything, it's all just equipment the player chooses and the choices are obvious as there is a defined line of armor, etc...

Anyone referring to STALKER as an immersive sim is both wrong and stupid.

If I go by the amount of time played. The first 2 easiely win.

1. Morrowind modded
2. Baldurs Gate 3 modded.
3. Kingdom Come Deliverance
4. Mount and Blade Bannerlord
5. Gothic 2

But Lufia2, Chronotrigger, Fallout NV, Vampires Masquerade are also really nice, just dont have that much replayability for me.

If you can clear up the Mount and Blade series bit with one game I'll get that added.

Played Bannerlord the most. But warband was also decent.

They're less different than you imply.
For example: Jagged Alliance 2 has more complex combat and character building than many if not most JRPGs. You can also kit your character out in more different ways than most as well.

You have a better argument for Terraria, but just because there's a lack of a proper narrative other than "defeat all the world bosses, just because".

I don't disagree but I just want something that is approachable for everyone. I'm not asking anyone to sign a contract in blood, just list your top 5 RPGs (even roughly), that you can change whenever you want, so that we can have a list of games that people can look at and go "Huh, maybe I should try that".

I did ask for suggestions here viewtopic.php?p=121397-various-role-pla ... ad#p121397 but didn't get anything so decided to do something and change it later if needed.
